if you need a cheap straight edge, go to an art store look in the drawing supplies, dont waste your money on the stewmac ones they should b exactly the same if not better MzI

thats what ill prolly end up doin unless i just change the cad drawin reprint and check it against the epi, depends on how up to it i feel MzI

hey, i printed out the sg file on guitar build and made my template, it seems kinda wide tho, i held it up against an epi sg and it was like 1/4" to 1/2" too wide on each side , then i also looked at the sg file in the download section and that was even wider, would sumone tell me the actually dimensions of a gibson sg the new style not the 70s style i heard they are different or tell me which one is correct thanx MzI

its all red oak, its gone now anyways it all got choped up o well i may be coming across some maple logs in the near future so im not too worried bout it MzI

I had some fun ripping up my dinning room floor today, not really, but now there is a huge pile of oak floor boards that might just get thrown out, is there any reason why i could salvage some of the longer boards turn em quarter sawn and make glue lam necks out of them, all of it is pretty straight grained and isnt oak fairly similar in tone properties to maple? MzI

couple easy questions for sum experienced builders bout the neck, i looked through the tutorials and the forums and couldnt find answers to my questions 1. the angle of the headstock needs to be cut and glued on bfore the truss channel is routed? 2. im a gibson guy so i like their truss rod covers, how do they route their channel so they can have the truss rod cover with the screw in the middle of the channel? 3. what is the best alternative double truss rod to the hot rod so i dont hafta shell out a ton of money for the damn router bit $20 imo is a lil excessive for a bit specially when i can get a standard size one for 10 and not hafta pay for shipping thats all for now thanx in advance MzI

ive been playin for 5 years im 20 now so that would mean i started out at 15 i guess not really sure, fuzzy memory hard to remember the details, ne ways i think i suck sum people say im good at school (college) but then again all those people play is pop punk and alternative stuff and i play like metal and classical, gotta love the classical im just startin to learn scales and stuff i taught myself how to play at first and now im ready to learn the technical stuff i definetly dont play as much as i want to tho MzI

what does 10 vintage marshall 100 w tube heads, 10 vintage marshall cabinets and yngwie playin 6 million miles an hour??? my ears still ringin the day after and its 130 in the afternoon, good god that was a crazy show. my first time seeing malsteen and i was 2nd row center stage. it was good to see someone that actually still has the ablity to play, to me it didnt seem like he was playin alotta sweep arpegios it looked like he was pickin out every note but nevertheless it was incredibly fast, kinda disappointed he didnt play black star he only played a couple bars from it, it was totally worth the 15 i paid too especially when lookin through the first couple rows i could see every single person was just standing there in awe not moving during the solos MzI

if you wanted to make it really crazy mayb start the lightning bolt as an inlay on an ebony finger board and run it down to a point on the body where its hittin a lighting rod or sumthing MzI

dont cut any wires ever, you dont want to make em too short and unusable, soldering isnt that hard and it dont matter if its messy cuz itll b covered by a control cavity plate ne ways MzI -

scale length is the back of the nut to the saddle on the high e string, there is a fret calculator on guitarbuild.com works pretty good, with 24 frets all you hafta do for the pickups is move the neck pickup back a lil unless of course you already routed the pickup cavities MzI

i got a pair of 60 81 combos in 2 of my guitars ones an esp explorer, both pickups are great the 60 is perfect for clean rthym and the 81 is nuts for solos, its good to combine for the rthym solos too MzI

emgs are solid so you cant change the covers, they do sell white emg's, however you can paint them, if you check out kirk hammets mummy guitar he has them painted on that particular guitar MzI

both my sets go towards the top of the headstock i got a set of 6 in line on my explorer and 3 per on my v MzI

if im not mistaken the lil peg goes toward the top of the headstock MzI
