  1. Celestion 30's appear to be the speaker of choice... so does anyone have the specs of these? (detailed stuff) As for that program if you could send it to jammyuk AT blueyonder.co.uk that would be great - thanks
  2. I've been looking into making myself a pair of closed back 1x12 speaker cabs for my stereo rack setup and I was wondering what you guys know about cabs? Ive been looking around and have found out that the volume of the cab makes a big difference to the performance. There are a few "calculators" online to work out optimum sizes, but they ask for a "Q" value....anyone? -Have a look here to see what i mean- Does anyone who has made a cab in the past fancy passing on any gems of knowladge? Thanks alot people, ill look forward to replies...
  3. very true I dont know why, but i just presumed it was a 2x12
  4. yeah, you need a rebating bit *goes on hunt to find a picture/supplier*
  5. series youll get 16 ohm, parralell youll get 4 ohm
  6. bassurgery use optical pickups on there basses, have a look at there site. Ive never heard of them being used for guitars tho. I would reccomend EVERYONE to look at that site - there instruments are increadable, and the guy makes them all (electronics included) and they are without doubt the best playing basses I have ever tried - shame they start at about £7,000 (or $12,500). Go and druel people
  7. The 2 pickups on a guitar (neck and bridge) are not always used at the same time, infact they are more ofen used seperatly. Even though the pickup types may be the same the sound produced by each is very different; this is due to the placement of the pickups. The general rule is - the close the the bridge you go, the more treble (or high frequencies) are produced. People normally use the bridge pickups for rhythm playing. The closer to the neck you go, the more bass will be produced; giving a smoother tone normally used for lead playing. Hope I helped
  8. 24 grit? is that pebbles glued to paper?
  9. If anyones interested ive got a drop D tuner im looking to get rid of - the normal EVH one. The spring is missing but Im sure I can find one if someones interested. As for the Drop - d using the fine tuners idea, its possible on some floyds and not others (eg: not possible on my edge equipped RG550, but is possible on my schaller equipped charvel). I think it depends on many things aswell...string gauge, scale length etc...
  10. one vote for radiused sanding blocks
  11. F**king amazing! You fancy telling us how you did the LED work?
  12. 0.5cm exactly (thats from the face of the guitar to the area where the studs are mounted)
  13. Gimmie a min - ill see if i can do it witout taking the trem out. If im not back in 5 mins, wait a little longer
  14. I have an origional jem to hand - let me know where you want me to take a measurement and I'll try to do it. You gotta remeber that the lions claw may make it difficult for me to give you a definative depth measurement - but ill try my hardest.
  15. Looks excellent mate! 777DY without the hole...
  16. All I can tell you is that the mounting tabs are not rectangular - there like rounded triangles. To take the other measurments I would have to take the pickups out of my guitar - and I cant really do that. Email dimarzio, they seem to be nice people and im sure they would help. tech@dimarzio.com
  17. ooh, the above was humbuckers; how for single coils (I should read stuff carefully ) Width (along neck line) 17.6 mm Length (up/down) 77.27 mounting holes - 90mm
  18. width of pickup *bobbin section* (along neck like of guitar) 36mm length of pickup *bobbin section*(up/down, when guitar in normal, playing position) 77mm Distance between mounting screws (centre to centre) 90mm Gimme A shout if theres anything else you need...
  19. The peghead angle sorta keeps the string in the nut. Not only is the string tension pulling along the neck, its pulling the strings back against the nut. The acutal reason why i do not know, but it can be used with all bridges etc - its just a preference
