  1. sealer does exactly what it sounds like. it seals the wood. you cant stain the sealer itself, it has to take to the wood.
  2. thanks dude. this was quick build. 4 days total, actually.
  3. ya, i love that headstock. even more now that i can acutally make my own necks. that les paul with it was my first neck. i have done it on a les paul, this rg, and the diamond plate rhoads i have in this section. its my favorite headstock.
  4. wooo, just finished the zebrano neck. looks great. i love linseed oil. just have to glue it up tonight. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0028.jpg
  5. definitly. i was about to take a long break from building. so happy it will work.
  6. haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! its not messed up. stupid me for jumping to conclusions! the neck wasnt all the way up in the pocket, wich threw the alignment off. it will work perfect! just have to make a sustain block for the string thru.
  7. basicly finished. just a few more coats of primer, and then i will be painting it flat metallic purple. pavo purple if any of you have heard of it. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0024.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0023.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0022.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0021.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0020.jpg
  8. because, the diamond plate covers the top routes, and the control cavity. the bridge and the neck are aligned, they just arnt aligned with the pickups. the strings would be way to the right. it looks awesome in good light. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0027.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0025.jpg
  9. well to me, it doesnt look like a scarf. it look straight, not at an angle. looks like they just glued a smaller pice on the back parrelell to it to make it thicker.
  10. neck pocket template slipped, so the string alignment is way off, it is a string thru, and the rear ferruel holes are really really crooked. since the diamond plate is off, there is nothing really i can do.
  11. i just got it in today. great looking wood. has some purple accents. i will post a pic in a minute, but i can assure you, you wont like the pic, its nitetime here, and my camera sucks unless there is plenty of natural light. let me know if your still interested. EDIT: stupid camera! it looks so bad at night! looks horrible. not worth posting, but o well. this is a sample of the stock i have. will get better pics tomarrow.
  12. i hate chrome. i only like it on chameleon finishes. chrome screams "stock" "cheap" and things like that.
  13. thats awesome. some people bump into all the right people. no one around here even knows what the difference between a hardtail and a trem is. thats a great deal. congrats
  14. yup, i just turned 18 last weekend. dont feel any different
  15. well i havent used walnut in the past, but i did use a curly maple neck, wich is almost exactly in the middle of mahogany and hard maple, and made it thinner than an ibanez neck, and it even fell off my bed and landed on the headstock, and it was still all fine, and no truss rod adjustment was needed. i think it will work fine.
  16. well, now i am debating on wether to use a walnut neck, because i already have a curly maple neck sitting here from a board that i got 3 necks out of. what should it be, walnut, or curly maple? and also, i found out that the peruvian walnut is actually tropical walnut.
  17. Pickup switch on the side? Howso? Pickup switch on the side? Howso? like this. look on on the top side right by the strap
  18. whoa, i actually have 3 builds going on at once. 1 just waiting for some parts to assemble and be done, and 2 waiting for neck wood. here is the latest. les paul with a floyd, duel hums, and peruivian walnut neck. i will recieve the walnut next week sometime. should be a cool build. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0003.jpg
  19. how about this? http://store.guitarfetish.com/activepreamps.html
  20. by the end of the week, i will have about 9 peruivian walnut neck blanks, great looking wood. smooth planed to 3/4 inches, perfect for bolt on or set necks. this is great looking and sounding wood, so let me know if anyone is interested. any desired lenghth if you want, but most will be cut to 28", wich is long enough for even the long headstock guitars. thanks for looking!
  21. no, i really dont like the switch there. but due to a major screw up on my part, i will have to put a diamond plate top on it. it really hurts to do this on such great looking wood. but i must salvage it somehow.
  22. i am expecting to see more first time bolt on makers, but i could be wrong. i admit, my first build was a bolt on.
