  1. actually thats what it is. its sanded down thru different level of paint. i figured most wouldnt like it.
  2. you could also ask huntindoug. he is always offering to cut custom inlays and mirrors when people dont even ask him. so you could ask him and im sure he would be happy to cut them for you.
  3. ya i forgot to mention that. the kl headstocks have a really close fit. your SUPPOSED to use mini tuners for this headstock. but it works, so o well
  4. finally got the black hardware. just waiting for the coco fretboard to get in. http:// box of stuff from stew mac http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...elespaul001.jpg bridge and stop tail http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...elespaul006.jpg rear view of tuners http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...elespaul005.jpg
  5. yeah I was wondering about that, same with some of the stains on the other stuff.. im curious though if I rub it could I throw off the level surface and make a low spot? Maybe I'm over analyzing.. and it all started just trying to find a decent bandsaw, and I couldn't let it all go... naw no way. thats hardened steel your talking about. there isnt very much you could do to damage it. rub away.
  6. yes that is compared to the 81/85 combo. ive never used the 81/81 or ther 81/60. but it seems like the guitarheads neck pickup is just like the 60. great mids and low end, great for rythm. yes you can get harmonics very easily with them. but i dont know how consistant these are. i have only used one set. i pulled these out of my v to put on this guitar.
  7. they sound better than the emgs ive tried. ive tried emgs in a jackson dk and an esp viper. i think they have a much crisper sound and a ton of mids wich is what i like. you definitly need a neck pickup tho because the bridge doesnt have very good cleans just like emgs. but i have never tried guitarheads in a set or neck thru guitar. i think they will sound better. i dont think i will ever use emgs again.
  8. good stuff. i like delta and jet. make sure you wipe down the rust on that jointer with some wd 40 and some steel wool before you use it.
  9. what would you like to know about them? ive never done a review before
  10. yes it will. the body template was made for a 22 fret 24.75" scale length neck and thats what the neck will be. i have measured it out where the neck will sit, and it works. but ya i dont really like doing it this way though.
  11. they are active pickups from guitarheads. 1/3 the price of emgs and are the best sounding metal pickups i have ever heard. dead quiet without sheilding. i think i will go with gold or black hardware instead. i cant choose between those.
  12. check out this thread and let me know what you think http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=30529
  13. yes you should. you should get it as close to the line as you can, and after the finish is dry scrape the binding clean with a razor.
  14. mockups with all parts! http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ulprogress5.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...progress007.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...mall_luie/f.jpg
  15. im pretty sure you can. i dont see why sanding sealer and epoxy would react with each other. but if your really unsure try it on a piece of scrap wood. but i am sure it will be fine
  16. pretty much 90 percent of fenders are bolt ons. cant stand fender.
  17. you mean the ring on the selector switch? you just unscrew the nut to the switch and take it off.
  18. i had one in a v guitar i had before. yes it does extremly high output. but it handles distortion very well and doesnt get muddy. but you definitly need a neck pickup with it, because the cleans arnt that great
  19. yup built it from scratch. here are some pics from the beginning. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...lproject001.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...lproject003.jpg i did the scarf joint the way Godin guitars do there headstocks. cut the angle, clamp the cut off piece, the flip the neck over and stick it under the clamped wood and glue it. if that makes sense.
