  1. Whered you get these laser cut templates? Looks neat so far
  2. Go through his website a little more, he makes a bass using the side bender, I'd look it up for you right now but I gotta run. Kirk
  3. http://www.billsbest.com/thsidebender.html Kirk
  4. You might think one would use the [bACKSPACE] key to remedy such a problem. I dunno though, therapy sounds pretty good...
  5. The guitar will eventually have DragonII Treble and Bass p/u, though we're not installing them. The guy preferred that we just put the Korean p/u in it and he'll put the Dragons in. I compared the size to the actual Dragon II's and it shouldnt require any extra routing. The neck is rough cut already, but I can do no more until the fingerboard and truss rod arrive.
  6. Haha i worked at a hardware store for 2 years, selling power tools. Not to argue, but try that, and then decide if theres a difference between a jointer and a joiner. I won't dispute that they often name the same thing, but when someone comes into your store asking for a "jointer..er joiner, you know..." you gotta be like "Which one?"
  7. Thats what i was thinking, NO WAITS! I acquired an ash tree. And i cut some of the boards up and they're a long ways from dry (i got it a year ago). I'm gonna have to slice it all down i guess and give it another year or so...
  8. Are you saying you've got a problem with my skills at the bass guitar?
  9. And we all apologize for thread hijacking.... NICE WOOD!
  10. Does anybody know of any ways to dry wood in your home, besides letting it sit there for a few years? The oven? Thanks.
  11. WOW! It looks like its coming along VERY well. I'm humbly impressed. Nice workshop too, good and big.
  12. Thanks Drak, for backing me up there. You forgot joiner though. JOINING is not typically done on guitars, but on other woodworking. It involves taking a board that has already been joinTed and cutting little slots (they're gauged from 0 to who knows how high, biggest i've seen is #20) into which biscuits of some sort of wood/cardboard compound are glued, the two boards are thus pieced together. VERY similar to the wooden dowel method of doing things...
  13. REALLY COOL! The vids are killer! Only thing...What's the purpose of the skunk stripe? Previously I had thought it was to install the truss rod from the rear, but i guess i was wrong? It seems to me they do it for no reason...
  14. It's actually pretty complicated. You need a joiner, a jointer and a planer.
  15. I would get a drummer, or a drumset perhaps. I pretty much learned the drums right before I recorded them, which might explain for the untightness of the song, seeins as how i dont play the drums...
  16. lookin Good! That pearl is quite pretty. From where did you acquire it? What the body wood? Fretboard wood? I know i saw this guitar somewhere else, but can't remember...
  17. Here you go, I went ahead and put everything that I thought would be useful. These dimensions are from the actual guitar, as instead of measuring from a real PRS (my friends CE22) i just traced it for my template. The top was originally 7/8" If i had it, I would have used a 1" top and back, but alas, I did not.
  18. The carve was done essentially from Bob Benedettos book for archtop guitars... I drilled a series of concentric holes at descending depths from the portion that i wanted to stay flat in the middle, then i shaved off all the extra with a belt sander. After that, I went down with a pad sander to even things out (i still have a little of this to do). I am unfortunately not avoiding the heel from hell. I offered the guy buying to do so (along with offering him the traditional PRS curly maple top) and he declined. His cousin owns a jet black CE22...he wants it exactly the same. asm: I assume you mean like the width at the body curves, lengths to the horns..etc? If so I'll go ahead and draw something up for you.
  19. I've been workin on this for the past week...here's my current progress. The pics will probably only work for a little while as my server is out of room or something so i had to upload on a place with limited bandwidth. The intent of this is to make what the title says a PRS copy, its all measured out and spec'd from a real PRS. PRS Hate mail welcome EDIT: This is my first carved top instrument.
  20. you can't find the bodies. That's the answer. No really makes anything besides fender or Ibanez in replicas for the most part. To find a warwick body, well, you'd just have to buy a warwick.
  21. no idea....my music instructors brother in law did it all
  22. Where'd you get the piezo?...electronics?...is this recorded just plugged into a computer?
  23. what program? ProTools... Everything was miced...32 tracks audio on the whole thing....I had parts written for 36 but .dat files can only hold 32, and i wanted it mastered...
  24. ummm EKG stands for Eddie K....Guitars? Please correct me if that title does NOT say "Eddie Kolesar Guitars Guitars" Cool website, does he do things other than ibanezes...?
