  1. You might be waiting a long time for the completed pics but here's a few more, most of the sanding is finished now
  2. I use Schaller strap locks and cheap straps
  3. Thanks I've been listening to Maiden since I was 8 years old, Adrian Smith was a huge influence on my playing so it's nice to be compared to him.
  4. I was only born in '82 I found a free program the other day called Advanced MP3 WMA Recorder, which seems to work very well but I need to buy a phono to 3.5mm lead to get it recording in stereo.
  5. Yeah the program I used to record it to PC was only a free trial, so I could only record 40 seconds.
  6. Here's something I recorded on my digital 8 track a few weeks ago, the backing is from an old Guitar mag CD, the lead guitar is me It's not perfect, there are a few dodgy bits but it was all improvised I had nothing worked out.... http://www.fullservesite.com/blacklabel/solo.mp3 Let me know what you think
  7. If you want some pics hosting, e-mail to me and I'll post them up jonsimnett@aol.com
  8. Yep that works now, thanks for your help
  9. Hmmm I've created an acount and uploaded an mp3 but for some reason when I try to play it, it says...'page cannot be found'..... I uploaded a pic as well and that did the same thing ? It's proberbly me being dumb but I can't get it to work
  10. I've got some recordings on my 8 track I want to upload onto the net, but I can't find anywhere decent to upload them for free I've used Geocities but it was hopeless, can anyone suggest another website I could use?
  11. I saw these bodies on ebay yesterday, I e-mailed the seller for prices of body blanks he seems cheap....... £15.00 piranha mahogany & piranha £20.00 one peice ash at £30.00 £8.90 for p+p I've brought a Piranha blank for my first build
  12. Here's the plate, t still needs polishing properly but it's a nice snug fit
  13. I'm just using an off-cut of 3 or 4mm flat alloy, I've used diamond plate before but seeing as the cover is on the back of the guitar the pattern will stick out further than the body itself. I might get it anodised gold to match the rest of the hardware.
  14. Sorry but I don't have a scanner I've done loads more sanding today, I'm going to make a new rear control cover out of a sheet of alloy tomorrow to replace the shitty plastic one it came with. I'll post some more pic's in the 'In Progress..' forum very soon
  15. A cross between a Strat and a Jem/RG, my first proper project from scratch (apart from the neck) and my Black Walnut Rhoads project
  16. I kinda liked the idea of oil because it seems like an easier option to do myself, am I right in thinking you can use wax after it's been oiled?
  17. don't worry I think I'm going with the natural look, what method would you guy's recomend? I haven't got a clue on how to do it, but I'm sure I'll have fun trying
  18. Still loads of sanding to do in the bridge cavity and there's some white primer in the grain, but at least the worse bit is done...
  19. I've stripped most of the paint off this afternoon, took quite a while. I used some paint stripper and a stanley blade and gave it a very quick sand with an electric sander. I still need to strip the bridge and pickup cacities a lot more. More pic's coming shorty
  20. I brought this off ebay a few weeks back and today it finally came It's not a Jackson but the seller said it was an exact custom copy, if this was made by a pro luthier, by another manufacturer or if it was made in someone's shed I don't really care, it's well built I was told it was Black Walnut?, I have no knowledge of wood so if someone could corfirm this for me please? I'll post some better pic's when I've stripped the shitty black paint off
  21. thanks for the info, that sounds really good as my woodworking knowledge is shocking I think I'll need loads of pratice before letting rip on a nice piece of wood
  22. Doh! I meant to say I've ordered a catalougue from www.craft-supplies.co.uk not Luthiers Supplies. £30 sounds pretty good to me
  23. Before I joined this forum I never thought I get excited over a piece of wood but that is beautiful
  24. Thanks, I've ordered a catalogue from Luthiers Supplies
