  1. Oh yeh Oh yeh, there are desktops out there and they cost less than a new LP. I can tell you from expierence the good ones will churn out bodies at twenty four per eight hour day. Yes thats about twenty minutes per. I allready have a feeler out to Delmar Prod's let hope alot is'nt too much.
  2. Oh no, I do not plan on cloning or copying anything. I believe what I have in mind to be a little on the original side of fabulouso, and not scratchplates. If I can secure a supplier and I can get a desktop cnc machine my fellow builders will be amongst the first to see my products. I am in the planning stages right now so much of what I want is so much flotsoam and jetsom. I will keep us informed.
  3. Hey guys. I'm looking for a pickguard material supllier. I have some really cool ideas for some cool stuff and need to find a source for material. I do not want to buy from a retailer such as Stew- Mac or Warmoth, I would prefer to buy wholesale as I may manufacture these item some tims soon. Can anybody help. I really need to find the people who make that neat pearloid like swirly stuff.
  4. Hello boys 'killa here. This string leads me to a topic I've wanted to delve into for some time now. Fender and Gibson, both top guitar manufacturers, sell a number of different types of each of their top models. Why I ask myself?. There must be at least a dozen models of the Strat not including Squire, and nearly as many LP's. The clone builders included use mostly known pickups with all the same tonality, same wood spieces, same hardware same old same. Why not just offer a standard Strat or Tele and a Custom Shop Special with all that stuff as options. Same for Gibson, limit the prices to a moderate number and revolutionize the retail business. Do we really need so many like choices of the same old dog?????
  5. Oh yeh I've seen that but I want it on metal, maybe aluminum or silver I'm just playing with that idea
  6. I have it in my head to do some parts, such as maybe a body mask or design overlays with engravings on them much like the stuff for Tele's . Does anyone know of a source for this. I've seen some Tony Zemaitis work and fell in love. Now I want some for myself. Any ideas?
  7. try a machininst tool supplier. you want a 4r graduated flexible rule. should cost about $25.00. try MSCdirect.com.
  8. Say can anyone here set me in the right direction. I'm looking to have a body mask engraved in the fashion of what a leather man might do. Sort of like the stuff for Tele's. Anybody know of a source for this kind of work. I'm just curious at this stage.
  9. Hey, yeh I've used it on a friends axe. Goes on thin at about thirty five pounds pressure, needs multiple coats to get a shine, but it dries fast and hard in about forty eight hours.
  10. For figured woods a plane with a low angle blade is tops. It's the angle at which the blade enters the wood that creates the tear. The wood figure and the blade are at different angles so it tears at the grain rather than to shear it off. KILLA
  11. Kudos to Metal Matt. Not long ago I posted a topic on body styles being all from the same parent designs, ie, Strats, LP's and soforth, but you are a cut above all the rest. I think from a design standpoint what I've seen of your stuff is astheticaly superior. Form definitely follows function here. GOOD WORK Matt
  12. Hey guys. If your drill press is multi-speed, with a stepped pulley, you can use it to remove material with a tool called a Wagner Safety Planer. I will say though by the time you purchace alkl the required tools to do the job right you will have spent enough to buy a top end router. I must add this never use a drill press to rout out anything, the bearings aren't designed for side to side stress. This will cause the drill chuck to fall out causing much damage to human skin and bone. To echo Jay5 never use a sander drum in a router, you may end up wearing it on your head.
  13. Just got a flash. What if I could bind a body with neon fiber optic flexible rod? Anybody got some resources for this kind of stuff. Killa
  14. I would like to thank Matt for his assistance in posting my current work. Kudos dude.Killa

I have an album and it's public with Photobucket.com. I add the url to my post and I get a user posted image window not the active link everybody else gets. I've emulated the url the same way all the others have and still no luck. Could someone walk me through it step by step. I'm really frustrated by this, people must think me an idiot. 21. Hey Mike, I used an Exacto knife with #11 blade and a small Stanley Router Plane. I made a brass plate and used it as a template. Wish I could get a handle on uploading pictures I'd include pics of all the custom parts I've made.
  22. Please help, can't seem to load the pictures from photobucket. HELP
  23. Hi fellas. Just thought I'd post a pic of my latest and probably last guitar for a while. Thats spalted maple on the front and mahogany for the body wood. The horns are capped with bloodwood, gooood stuff to carve and scrape. I plan on a fender style bridge saddles on a custom laser cut plate and both black and gold hardware. More pics when its done. Thanks for the advice on working with spalt Drak. Killa. CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE PICTURE UPLOADED HELP!!!!!
  24. Hey Big G. The problem is the bearings on the shaft are'nt designed for lateral pressure, so while you are using the sanding drum you set up harmonic viabrations in the shaft and it losens the taper and the chuck falls out. Once you get the chuck back in, use the pressure method not the hammer, purchace a router bit collar fron the parts page in the manual and those troubles will be over.
  25. AJ first let me say that Mahogany is a wood that has a red-orange resin content thats very hard to erase. My advice is to veneer the top or drop top it with a maple or ash wood then clear coat the mahogany to the back. The lighter woods lend themselves to coloring much better than mahogany or any of the darker woods. Good luck on future projects, Killa
