  1. Ooopss.. Missed that.. Sorry.. It's Swamp Ash, not Alder.. Gotta go fix my site..
  2. Damn.. I should have spotted that one.. Thrown off by your avatar..
  3. Hey.. This one was about SG$800.. I bought the body and neck from a shop here in Singapore.. It's an Allparts one, I think.. The neck and body together were about SG$400.. But it was sort of an introductory offer.. The prices have since gone up..
  4. Heheh.. Finally got around to doing this.. It's not much.. Mainly an assembly thing but that's the best I could do with no access to tools/wood/etc.. Body's swamp ash with a flamed maple top and the neck's maple with a rosewood fretboard.. Here's the rest of the photos and some rambling by your's truly.. If you're interested, click on Home at the bottom of the page to get to the rest of my site..
  5. Try having to study the stupid things..
  6. Shocking news.. I'm not a fan either, but this kind of thing shouldn't be happening.. Such a sad state of affairs..
  7. I'm like a week out of date but, hell that's a good one!!
  8. I'm not a big fan of the evil metal thing but I must say that the inlay work on Anastasia's Baphomet caught my attention.. And my vote.. Great work guys.. Had a really hard time this month!!
  9. Small Chinese hands here.. My max stretch is the 1st fret to 6th fret with my index and pinky on the same string.. That also renders all the rest of the strings muted.. Heheh.. I get by a lot by using my thumb.. As for double-jointed, well, I can bend my middle finger back to within 1/2 inches of the back of my hand.. Used to be able to touch the back of my hand when I was younger.. And the first joint of my thumb has a full 180deg of motion.. It's like some sick party trick..
  10. Ok, I've been using the ol' Fender nickel plated steel ones (.10 and .11 depending on which guitar they're on) and they're pretty decent.. Used to use EBs but I really wasn't too impressed.. I'm going to try Rotosound's .10's and .11's.. Still waiting for them to arrive...
  11. Nope.. Tried both the same cable and guitar on another amp and they both worked fine.. Like I mentioned, the on/off light isn't even on but there's a faint, barely audible hum from the back of the amp... Edit: Sorry, LoveKraft, didn't see your post until I hit 'post' myself.. Thanks again for the suggestions, guys!! Will poke around in there a little more..
  12. Yup.. Wasn't the cable.. The little red indicator LED didn't even come on..
  13. Hi guys.. My Blues Junior just decided not to work.. I played it this morning ok.. Then I turned it off and went out and when I came back to try to use it again, it didn't turn on.. When I turned the amp on, I could hear a very soft humming from what I'm thinking is the transformer but absolutely nothing else was working.. The humming's not from the speaker but from the back and the little on/off light's not coming on either.. I'm thinking it may be a blown tube but I'm really new to tube amps.. I did notice that one tube is a little bit blacker than the rest but not by much.. What's a blown tube look like? I did opened up the back cover AFTER unplugging it and leaving it for a bit to hopefully get the caps to drain.. That got me a bit nervous.. Anyway, after poking around with a multimeter, I know that the 2 fuses inside the amp are ok and so is the fuse in the plug.. The switch also seems to be working.. Problem is that I don't know what the rest of the electronics do.. Any suggestions??
  14. Hey, thanks for the help, guys.. It actually belongs to a friend of mine and I only play it when I go to his place but it still bugged me endlessly.. Just thought I'd fix it up for him.. And yes, it does have a wonderful tone.. That's what makes the intonation thing such a shame.. I'll change out the strings the next time I'm over.. Frank: The bridge and saddle look ok.. The saddle has been lowered by someone in the past but he or she did a pretty neat job of it and the strings still break nicely over the saddle.. The high e does bite quite deep into the wood of the bridge itself.. Would that be a source of problem? Whatever it is, I'll change the strings first.. Thanks again guys!!
  15. Oh nuts... Sorry for the multiple posts.. I kept getting an error so I thought it didn't go through... Sorry.. Haven't tried that yet.. Could it be the cause of that? Thanks for the reply!!
  16. Hi guys.. First post in this section but anyway, I've got an old Seagull acoustic (I think it's an S6) that has only recently begun to develop a problem with the intonation of its high e string.. It's almost a full semitone flat at the 12th fret.. In tune when open, though.. The funny thing is that the rest of the strings intonate just fine all up the neck.. This has only developed over the past half a year or so.. As far as I can tell, the neck seems to be normal.. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks!!

  18. Wow.. That's a lot of sounds.. If you give me some time, I should be able to do a schematic up for you.. Just something to note, though.. Some of those combinations may not sound that much different or, even if they do, may not really have much of a use.. I'm talking from experience here because I did some mother of a wiring on a Strat and came up with plenty of different tones.. After a while, I realised that all I was using was the 5 basic Strat combinations.. Go figure, eh?
  19. Heheh.. I've done that before..
  20. The dude at Frets.com has a pretty good nut tutorial.. So does Stew-Mac if you don't mind the fact that they recommend that you buy their entire stock..
  21. Yep.. Shielded 'em.. If you do it correctly, I'd say that it's important, especially if you're using single-coils... Use the 'search' tool to find out more..
  22. I love Strats but when it comes to body shape, I seem to have developed a fetish for those semi-hollows.. There's just something classy about them..
  23. SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Morse.. You know, I just realised that the title was 'Fav Guitarist' not who do you think is the best.. Just an observation.. In light of this, I'll just say that I'm a big fan of all 3 mentioned guitarists.. I think they're cool.. Hah..
  24. No worries.. For a while I was afraid that my maths was screwed..
