  1. no, i dont respect you, youve dont nothing to me personally for me to respect you? why would i? you could be some serial killer for all i know. its not about respect, its about INFORMATION. thats why its a building forum. and not a counseling forum.
  2. im glad you two feel so close to each other, that was touching. snif snif.
  3. i dont know if i would buy a guitar off the tv, and especially since it comes with an 'esteban' amp. errrr....yeaaaah. i like how he goes "this guitar is great! solid spruce top!, ect ect" then he picks up his 20k guitar and is playing it instead. isnt it like 150$? i guess you get what you pay for.
  4. im just asking why is he here? it strikes me as odd that someone i have never heard of is making lude replies to my thread. and turning it into more of a regular net forum than what this actually is, a guitar building forum. personally, i would rather see someone with 700 post and have actually slightly contributed to some things in the past, make some not so great comments. than some guy just poping up out of no where making these comments, i mean, what kind of forum does he think this is? he should just go back to 'teen chat' on yahoo or something, cause i havent seen anything about guitars come up in his 2 or so year span on here. which is........kinda strange since its a hmmmm . guitar forum?
  5. wow, imagine that, a person who makes PROFESSIONAL guitars not caring about hotlinking. this just proves my point that much more. perry
  6. welcome man. ive never seen a tutorial on neck thru personaly. of what ive seen so far, neck thru's arent the easiest project to start off with. i know you hate to hear it, but maybe something like a set neck sg would be a bit easier/less stress on you. westhemann was working on a neck thru a while back, but i believe he never finished it. dont know if personal reasons or because of problems. but if your using korina, something that usually doesnt have some crazy grain and pattern, you could make cuts wisely, blend the heel into the back of the body, and it would be hard to tell a set neck from a neck thru...... for the most part that is. feel free to ask anymore questions. i'll do my best to answer!
  7. Jimm my friend, upon further inspection, i did a search for your user name. and the search proved my theory that you have been here for a few YEARS, have 36 post, and none of those post actually have you telling someone any advice, comments, or any work YOU have done.. sooooo.... this leads me to believe your a poser, and you just talk alot of BS. lets see some of the stuff youve done, you ARE on a guitar building site right? well what are you here to do then? build and share advice or talk BS? cause as of now i havent seen anything you have ever done that is worth anything. actually, i vote for Jimm to be banned, its called Trolling, and he is doing nothing but making low blow remarks and not helping the "community" as he calls it, at all. at least i have a few hundred post of giving advice and making new intresting post.
  8. about the hotlinking cost, gibson is a major coproration, do you know how many millions they are worth? plenty. do you think the ceo of the company cares about projectguitar.com's 20 members hotlinking their pics for THEIR benefit to get their products out to potential buyers? well, walk up to him on the street and see if he doesnt laugh in your face. think about how many page views they get a day, and what percentage of a sliver that hotlinking is being used from them. if you think about it, its not even worth discussing. and if it was of concern they would have employed something like Geocities, (or the other free hosting site) that doesnt allow you to use hotlinked images. hmmm... if they are loosing "so much money" to us evil people posting their pictures of guitars that cost more than i could ever imagine then why didnt they use this method? maybe cause they dont care, and they have better things to worry about, and guess what, so should you.
  9. nice blue text and bold words there sweety cakes. if i didnt allredy know you were fruity, this would sure be the final clue.
  10. respect? gibson inc. doesnt take any pictures. they hire freelance photographers and then the photographers are NOT allowed to put their website address or name on the picture, then gibson buys it for a few measely bucks. sounds like thats where you should be pointing your "respect" view at. they are the ones getting screwed over, and they have no input. gibson could give two shats less if you post a pic of a 54' re-issue. if anything, that probably helps them, cause if they loose .02$ of their monthly 500$ hosting billl is lost due to 'hotlinking', then if someone sees it, and goes out and buys the damn 4000$ guitar. they probably welcome you to throw their pics around. what they dont want however is someone taking their pic and then putting "KlingoN Kustom Guitars" on it and saying that i made it, THAT is copyright stuff right there.
  11. word. if someone pays 18k for a guitar then they need to do a little research and find out that ebony laminates are about 200$ and not 1250$. i should email that guy and ask him what mystery sacred trees he thinks should bring about 500$ a BF
  12. nice way to chop up a reply and make it look like your smart jimm, real mature. seems like this forum have turned into a bunch of political, treehugging hippies who care more about the background of a picture and where it came from, than just looking at the damn thing. good grief ive never seen so many people make rules and try to bring LAWS into PICTURES posted on a HALF RATE GUITAR FORUM. seriously, you people need to bring the paranoid level down about 300% and stop thinking the fbi is gonna break down your door if you posted a picture of John Doe's Gibson he got from his aunt on his 14th birthday.
  13. sorry, i dont turn to projectguitar.com to capitalize on my spelling and grammar skills. i keep forgetting this is a mini-version of school, and its very VITAL that if you type something at 4AM it must be perfect, or 30 yr old people will make fun of you. so sorry.
  14. good grief has it really come to that..... what they are talking about mainly is people stealing images and saying its theirs (such as companies and people that sell stock photos like corbis.com) they do NOT give a crap about projectguitar.com linking to some 15yr old kids washburn acoustic he got for his birthday. thats like saying the FBI is cracking down on jaywalkers this afternoon. your blowing it WAY out of proportion man. of all the years ive been active on HUGE message boards, this is the first ive ever seen of copyright photos. its just redicilous.
  15. Ebony neck laminates 1250.00 man what is that guy smoking?
  16. are you serious? 25k? man, thats gotta be 99% labor cause those arent very crazy woods. probably 500$ worth of woods in his guitars (or the ones ive seen).
  17. sounds nice, what kind of amp is that thru?
  18. i agree erik, it seems that builders experiment with their shapes alot more than elec guitar. and just think about acousitcs' what a dry standardized market that is. for the most part lol.
  19. nice skibum, how much do Alembic's usually go for? ive never seen a price for one of their basses, they all seem to be 'sold guitars' and not anything currently for sale.
  20. hey, EAD dude, youve got 33 post, ive never heard of you. dont start this thread into a big frickin flame war MORE than it allready is. ENOUGH. post some pics allready of guitars DAMN. END OF DISCUSSION. START A THREAD IN OFF TOPIC CHAT IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS THIS SOME MORE OR IT WILL NEVER STOP. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ _______________________________________________________________
  21. d-string? you mean like the d-tuna? if its what im thinking about, its a preset little lever/knob you turn to drop to D really quickly. i dont know how precise it is, but im sure they wouldnt be selling alot of them if that was the case. the drawback that i see is just visual. the one i saw was about 2" long looked kind of obtrusive. but you may be talking about something totally different.
  22. very nice work there! thx for putting the time into them. however, i wish someone would do prs plans though there are hollowbody plans out, but they are different.
  23. thanks buddy. its great to have some good input like that. my main mission on this guitar was not trying to get A+ tone in every aspect or be 100% proper weight or playablility. im not to much of a hardcore guitarist as i dont have to much time to practice. so its almost more enjoyable to build it than it is to play it *ouch, that sounds bad*. so i just am trying some stuff ive never seen people do before (you'll see as it progresses ) and not worry on to much of the basic guitar stuff. experimental in alot of ways, we will see how it goes. about the templates. they are pretty flat for the most part. i think where alex was saying that the wood moved in the laser cutter, but all the lines were precise, just off axis. i dont think the nut line is flat, which may cause some problems, cause when i hold a rule or a square flat with the centerline of the neck/headstock and then one on the nut, its not a perfect 45 angle. the only other problem i have with them is that when you hold the top and body templates. you cant get them flush on either side, one wants to stick past the other about 3/16" tops. no matter how you position it, so i dont know. thx again. your comments are much appreciated. to bad i dont get to work on it much now as im out of state/ in school from the woodshop im using. but hopefully i'll get to work on it some this weekend and update with some pics.
