  1. Hey i was just wondering... does the corevtte have a belly cut in the back or is it jsut rounded. I know that the Long and Mcquade has a bunch of em I just don't have a ride to get down there and check. Any help is appreciated. Also anyone know where to get brass frets i was interested in trying them out on this one. Bass-man
  2. Well Xanathus what i did is a printed off a decent sized picture of the bass then I made a transparency of the picture so that it could be displayed on and overhead projecter. Then i got a tape measure and measured from the 12th fret to the saddles and made sure that its was 17.5 (half of a 35 inch scale) then traced it.
  3. Thanks man I can't wait for it to be painted. It will be a super dark candy purple, with silver leafed bevels. Its gonna look insane!!
  4. Yeah I have always wanted a warwick so bad but I just can't afford to shell out $1600 on a bass I want So im building one instead, im taking ectra care on this baby though haha
  5. Kenny you saved me quite a hassle right now I can't believe I missed that hahaha thanks a bunch Bass-man
  6. Thanks man yeah it is probab;y the best thing that has ever happened to school. A new teacher there last year started it up and me and my other friend whos on this forum ngaa were taught how to build guitars last year. He helped us with our last ones but this time around for the latest ones i just pick his brain for its useful info on occasion But yeah the club only consists of a couple of us, only like 2 of us are gonna finish, one of the guys there is so clueless im scared for MY life when hes in the woodshop hahaha Bass-man
  7. Wow. Okay its been a while since i have posted haha. Well the body is a week away from being ready from paint. I just need to route the area for the cover plate for electronics cavity drill sopt of output jack and straplocks. I jsut need some freakin' tuning keys cause niether stewmac or allparts sell individuals anymore and this is frustrating and i want to get this done so i am this | | close to just getting 2 packs. But anyways on the neck it just needs some sanding at the heel and volute, side dots, Keys and frets. So while body is in paint I'll do all of that. Anyways heres some progress pics, And I just realized I DO NOT have like any pics haha Ill take some more and update ASAP, no more dissappearing Bevel up close http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00166.jpg PU cavity http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00161.jpg And by the way I couldnt find a router bit to do the bevels so I did it all by hand with a hand planer for the straight bevels, and a half rounded file for the inside wing bevels. They turned out amazing but you can't relly tell by the Pics Bass-man
  8. Well as my 7-string is nearing its end (Will post updates after done this thread haha) I have decided to get rid of my first bass so I took what hard wear was valuable, which was the bridge and tuning keys they are in perfect condition. It was an old Washburn Bantam series 5'er that i had de-fretted and then it jsut stopped working so i repaired output jack and that helped, then it just stopped working again so I just don't care and i never played it anyways, so I donated the neck and pickups and other stuff to the guitar building club at my school. ANYWAYS hers the plan. Neck through 5 string Pickups-1 or 2 Seymour Duncan SMB-4d's Black Hardware Natural Satin Finish 35 in scale For the Body wood I am yet undecided I want to do a Wenge back, 1/2 inch maple core and wenge to because we have some VERY nice wenge at school for 8 dollars a Board foot!! but I am going to an exotic wood dealer this weekend fopefully and that may effect my decision. The neck will be maple, with wenge stringers possibly, wenge or whatever top wood i use for the head cap. Progress Made the body and head templates today. Body template looks nice, but I think I may have to fix the head template a touch so heres some pics. Enjoy Templates http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00190.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00189.jpg Hardware Bridge http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00193.jpg Tuning Keys http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00194.jpg

  10. Man those are some of the NICEST tops i have ever seen...EVER. When i first saw the red one i destroyed my pants LOL you should hurry up and finish that one off its gorgeous. Bass-Man43

  12. Okay new body is well on its way neck is ready to be bolted that will be tomorrow...hopefully but heres some pics of where it stands now. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00120.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00122.jpg
  13. No not yet i will hopefully have some up tomorrow perhaps. But its all good i routed it to match the other body, i need to route the noeck pocket PU and control cavity that can all be done relativelty quick so im excited to get this thing done.
  14. Yeah i totally agree with you I was gonna make a new body from the start i was just trying to figure out a way to salvage it for perhaps another build, like it was mentioned above ill perhaps use it for a neckthru build in the future. It just looked stupid the way the bridge was now its gonna be centered which will look waaaaaaay better Bass-Man
  15. Yeah i made a new body today. USed old body as a template cut and routed one half perfect then glued it onto another piece of mahogany. Now i'll wait and see what tomorrow brings, i'll probably have the neck bolted on and the body and all the cavitys routed, cause i have all the templates
  16. Well ive done lots in the last few days got the neck on but i think i need to make a new body the template was lined up crooked the damage in your opinion what should i do.... http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/DSC00117.jpg
  17. Have the neck fully shaped except for the end of the heel, and i got it bolted on today I don't have any pics right now but i will post them ASAP, it looks and feels great. Bass-man
  18. Man this guitar is gonna be sweet, i have never seen a fretboard like that whichs is cool. although the design may be "borrowed" i say its a one of a kind guitar. good Luck bass-man
  19. Oh okay now i get what you are saying, i do that with like every hole i drill jsut to be safe haha, but with like a phillips screw driver i think we got a punch or sumthing in our schools woodshop.
  20. YEah bridge all ready came in yesterday going to get it very soon. im always a little weary about using ebay ive heard bad stories haha but thanks for showing me that in the future maybe And prostheta i have no idea what a counterpunch is haha, but yeah i have heard ferruls can be a pain to get to go in straight. bass-man
  21. Thanks for all the replys, the damage is at the 7th or 8th fret it elludes me at this moment but with the neck shaped now its mostly gone ive gotta make some maple and some purpleheart filler then fill it, unfortunate but no big deal. As for the bridge http://www.allparts.com/store/guitar-bridg...010,Product.asp thats the one, its not the prettiest thing in the world but its all i could find should be here soon its been on order since like mid-sept. Its hardtail but string through so i need ferruls for the back. peace
  22. Okay today got the majority of the neck/volute shaped, i jsut need to do a bit mor in the mid section, sand it and ill be done that sucker. Then ill be able to make a template to blot the sucker on. I'll get some pics tomorrow when i get to work on it again. PEACE
  23. I totally agree with you Maggotbrain, that was the first thing it reminded me of when i saw it, On the 7 string V im doing were using that same effect except with candy blue and a white overcoat so it looks like ice, but the bevels will stay the candy blue.
  24. Well i am not at liberty so say what he used to get that effect haha but it was really cool its all automotive paint theres like 4-5 coats of candy on there 3 clear and the back of the neck was fiberglass resined but you can still see the wood grain in the flames its really sweet. But thanks for the compliment i appreciate it.
