  1. this was just such a well-thought out design with so much innovation it had my vote from the start. But lgm's acoustic made me think twice about my vote. Good job guys. Everybody keep up the great work. Neal
  2. Well, today i found out that i can use the cad-operated milling machine at my school to build a guitar. Because the milling and all has to be done before the end of school, i need to get some pre-drawn cad blueprints. I have seen the ones on guitarbuild, and will probably get one from there, but i know about being able to access blueprints as an advanced supporter if i donate 10 dollars. I will do it eventually, but as of this moment most of my money is going toward wood for this. Can anyone tell me some of the body shapes that aren't on guitarbuild so i can determine if it's worth the money now? I will donate eventually, but i'm a little strapped now, so if you guys could tell me a few of the bodies that i can't get anywhere else, it would be great. Also, where could i get a cad blueprint of a neck? I'm talking about one with the radius of both the front and back of the neck. thanks, you guys have been an invaluable resource. Neal
  3. 5 posts in a row......so thats how he got to 10,000
  4. neat, that might be an idea for a future project. Thanks. Neal
  5. kinda the same topic, what would an ash body look like unsealed with a stain?
  6. i was thinking some kind of busty girl silhouette, so it would be something i could find, but maybe you could also crank out a couple variations. Also, i might actually be inlaying a 2nd guitar, so maybe you could put up some ideas, and i could see what i think would look good. Right now i'm leaning toward stars, but i'm pretty much just grasping. Thanks. Neal
  7. hey, i might be interested. I'll pm you if i find out more information, i just dont want you to bother designing something that will never be used. Neal
  8. Well, my precious black fender p-bass is up on ebay, please bid if you are interested, i would love to sell this to one of the members here. Thanks. Neal my bass
  9. problem solved, i wrapped the shims in tinfoil and cut them to match the originals, then i lowered the bridge, and it's feelin pretty good, cept for the fact that i forgot to tune the strings back up to pitch before unblocking the floyd and now its being a bitch, but all should be good now. Thanks. Neal
  10. well, the neck is the original neck with no freat wear, and it buzzes on 0-10, so i'll try a little less relief, but what should i use as shims if there is still open buzzing? Thanks for your help. Neal
  11. I'm setting up my rg550, equipped with edge floyd, and i've encountered a problem. I like the action, but i'm getting buzz on the lower frets. I'd like to raise the nut up a bit, or maybe put some shims onder the strings at the nut to raise the action there, as this seems to be the most sensible option. Any suggestions from you experts? Thanks. Neal
  12. i think you should leave it the way it is now... when the pickups are in there, and strings are over it, i dont think it will seem TOO big, and i think the guitar would look better with the larger space than with a solid coat of paint. Plus, you will have better versatility with 2 pickups as opposed to one. Oh, and if you put on mounting rings, they will make the space even smaller(you could even fabricate some thicker ones yourself if you want to make the gap quite small). That's my opinion, but its all up to you. Nea
  13. you lost a table?!?! Jeez, how messy is THAT house.....i can see losing a wallet or keys, but A TABLE?????for chrissakes.... lol
  14. sorry to be impatient, but there are 2 sets of generic pu's up, and i want to get the cheaper pair, so it would really help if i could get a price. Sorry for being such an a$$. Neal
  15. actually, i have the same thing on my cpu.......intriguing.... Neal
  16. also, is the peavey half-stack for sale, if so, how much? where do you live? thanks. Neal
  17. and #1 would also look pretty nice
  18. i think 2 looks best because the bubinga would keep constant with the wings, and i like the contrast of the maple, but 3 is also good if you dont like all the contrast. I think that you should have a thin-or medium sized bubinga laminate on the edges to blend with the body, then a thick maple lam. on each side, and then put whatever you want in the middle. After all, it is your bass and your choice. Neal
  19. how much for the generic silver pu's? Neal
  20. i hate you krazyderek, coming in here and posting a minute or so before me.......grrrrr it's like you read my mind. Neal
  21. if you want to see how something else will look, my opinion is that you should contour the left side(in the pic) a little more to match the contour of the right, and maybe flatten out the bottom to look more like an explorer, but i think it's a neat idea. It isn't my personal favorite, but if it looks good to you, thats all that really matters. Keep up the good work. Neal
  22. thanks curtis, i think that before i fell into this rut, i was about equal to where you are, because i know i can play, it's just that i get bored of playing the same stuff. I've recently been messing around with blues, and it'w working great, and I'm also trying to tackle voodoo chile, which is real fun. I'm lead guitarist in this band, but we haven't ever all gotten together, it's always just me and my friend the bassist, sometimes the singer(or me, cuz i sing better ), and my processor's drum machine.....lol, i find it to be great playing with people, it motivates me. As to who i like, i'd say vai, satriani, definitely hendrix, anything real bluesy, and then a whole slew of other stuff....thanks a lot for your help guys, i'll try to plow ahead and really work, maybe i'll get out of this darned rut. Thanks. Neal
  23. yeah, i just joined up with some friends, and in response to some things, it's not that i don't want to play or that i force myself to play, it's that i just end up playing the same things over again, and i get bored after like 30 minutes, and if i try to learn a new song, it's either real easy, or i'll probably get frustrated with it and stop trying. I want to play, and i want to practice, but i keep playing the same stuff and i don't seem to get any better. Thanks for your help. Neal
