  1. What bridge are you using? You need some kind of support to hold it down, the top wood will not be strong enough, and the string pull will bend the top and probably yank the bridge out of the body. I think that you can revise it to fix this problem, but you need to do a lot of research before gluing the top down!
  2. Beautiful top and back you got there! That redwood is flawless!
  3. hahah does 6'1 160 count as very skinny? i think so Yes it does!
  4. Looks very nice! You must be a very skinny guy judging by the tummy cut on the rear...
  5. Neck looks nice! Thanks man, I will take that in mind.
  6. That is awesome!!! Wes, have you heard the Blackouts? I haven't, but I was considering getting a set. At about $30 less than the EMG's they are not a bad buy if the description is true.
  7. Whatever it takes to bring it to the next level! That's why you haven't seen any of my build on GOTM in a loooong time.
  8. +1, the knobs and the cover plates and headstock were the reason I didn't vote for it. g1_, you need to post more than only entries... I know a lot of people here will love to see more of those bass being build than just posted as an entry.
  9. I made a Cherry sunburst bass too, what 'ya yalking about blue...
  10. I'm here!!!! You know I love them big curl quilt maple!
  11. I can tell that you sealed it, because if not there would be a lot of swelling in all the edges and pots holes. It is mostly grain lines, maybe what you used to seal the body shrunk a little after you finished sanding.
  12. Looks great, that red was definitely not cooperating with you. But it looks as if the body was not completely prepared. Like raw wood (can see the grain in some pics). But I do think that you have great skills on the style! I tried a few times and got frustrated quickly. I might give it a shot, since my son appears to like it (thanks to you I guess)!
  13. This is what I mean. It is not that Perry was the one that came up with it... but he is the only one, to date that I have seen making it, or posting it here for that matter. I have exchanged PM's with him a few times and this is one of the few reasons you don't see many build from him here. If you recall better, he was not the one that posted about the multiscale guitar, but killemall8 did before him. There are a lot of gifted builders here, and I'm sure that if you use an idea from them, they will be more than glad that you give them that pad in the back by giving them credit. Like I posted on my case, I know that there are a lot of people that had stained their guitars before Myka, Drak or anyone here, just that I emulated and made "mine" their method, and everytime someone ask me I point them in their direction. You are developing as a good builder, that is why I'm following this build. I'm not criticizing you for "copying" a style, I do that all the time (copy)! Keep up the good work, and let's leave the debate for now and concentrate on the build. Wow, certainly sounds like a lot of work, have you tried making a jig like the one Myka uses for his neck pockets. I used a temporary jig like it to make the angled neck pocket for my single cut and it worked great. I could even fine tune it to shave about 1/8" from the heel of the neck too!
  14. I finally got here to see the pics! Great work Drak. That DC is growing on me, I like the chambering too, same like your "Iceman" inspired guitars from the beginning. And I like how your "patented" 5 hole configuration follows the contour of the body. From both, I think that depends on the finish. I like both gold and black with that body, black is always my favorite, but gold is very classy on that body.
  15. Actually, it is not if he will be upset or disappointed... but I think that you should had given him credit for your inspiration. Same like I give credit to David Myka and Drak for my stain work. So far it is coming out nicely. Can't wait to see more pictures.
  16. Lot of people use an intercoat after the base before doing any graphics.
  17. Darn, why I'm at work now!!! I can't see the pics here. Com'on 7 more hours and I go home!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I can't wait to see more progress! I know you are very tought on your build, so I'm most definitely looking to your work on this.
