  1. Also fine sawdust from the fretboard wood makes a good filler.
  2. 27" Rules for 7 strings. Look foward to this build though.
  3. For inlays you probably want upcutting bits to remove the wood as you cut?
  4. You posted on UG at 7.09 PM, on ss.org at 7.39PM and now you are here saying you didnt get any help? You gotta give people time to respond to your questions, forums are not chat rooms.
  5. Hey was just reading the manual to my new planer thicknesser and it says dont cut composite wood with it, e.g plywood and blockboard as the glue will naker the blade. So what you do guys do when planing say a 3 peice neck? Is there a lot less wood than say plywood that it doesnt matter as much? Cheers
  6. Hey I was wondering, when does a peice of wood get too thin to put through a thicknesser before tearing out etc? I imagine it depends on figured on non figured wood (quilted maple etc tears out easier?) I want to thickness a peice of wenge it is about 7 or 8 mm already but I need to even it out to 6 mm... Is a drum sander the only option or will it be alright through my thicknesser? Cheers Neil
  7. Hey does any one have any experience routing Azobe wood? It seems to be a very dense, hard wood that would dull blades easily. If I used one of these and made very small cuts at a time would it be alright? http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-CMT-Mil...aring-33382.htm Cheers
  8. It was on ebay and I lost, it went for £21 lol shame but it was only a whim purchase, I didnt need it.
  9. Hey does any body know if this pup is any good? http://www.wdmusic.com/7_string_single_coi...ckup_black.html Cheers
  10. Hey is there such thing as a profile gauge where you can lock the pins in place once you have the profile? I know it seems a bit pointless considering if you changed the profile by accident on the gauge you could just measure it again, but say if a customer lent you a neck he wanted you to copy for only a short period of time, a locking gauge would be quite handy. I couldnt find any googling in the UK, are they out there? Cheers Neil
  11. Well if you made an individual peice for every fret you'd only ever need a peice of shell about an inch long, I doubt that would break that easily.
  12. Yeah I dont really want to have to do it myself, powder coating seems also like a viable means of colouring metal. I'm not sure how to find a company that will do a very small batch though, I just want two white knobs lol I emailed the frets on the net guy, see what he says.
  13. Hey is any one here capable of making knobs and anodizing them? Is it a pretty expensive process? How white can you get it? I'm after some white knobs for my Ibanez RG and just painting them doesnt cut it. Cheers
  14. Look foward to this, looks great so far, but yeah really sucks about the finish.
  15. Not a fan of the body shape, but the woods craftman ship etc looks excellent! Go with gloss please
  16. Yeah you're going to want small diameter bits for the corners of cavities, and the biggest bit possible for hogging out the majority of the material. I'm not sure if smaller bits cause less tear out, never heard that.
  17. Hey can I use iron on veneer for pin striping neck lams? I would guess the iron on stick wouldnt be strong enough so would have to supplemented with glue? Do I need to remove the iron on sticky bit? Cheers Neil
  18. Is an 8 string TOM really a good idea? The intonation room is going to be very tight.
