  1. I have a LTD SC-607B so if you have any specific dimension requests I should be able to help you out.
  2. I hope thats an april fools, because its f**king aweful lol
  3. I'm from the UK so stuff is kinda limited how well will beech take stain? Cheers
  4. I want to pinstipe between a body and top of a guitar, but I cant seem to find black veneer wide enough.
  5. Cheers for the reply, how would you go about soaking the veneer with out it warping during drying? Just dont use a water base dye?
  6. Isnt 20 coats of poly rather thick? Isnt it in danger of cracking after about 3 coats?
  7. Hey does any one do it? Do the big companies that supply it use any kinda special techniques or can any one do it with a pot of stain and a rag? What would be the best wood to use to get the blackest result? e.g what takes stain best? When ever I see black veneer it tends to be stained sycammore. - Cheers Neil
  8. WRONG!! Are you nit picking? Care to give the right answer?
  9. Hey on some guitars there is a wall between the neck pocket and the neck pickup pocket, on others they just join into each other... Here is a wall pocket http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/jwe...m/MIMPocket.jpg Here is a no wall pocket http://www.etguitars.com/images/Flame%20Maple%20Top.JPG What is your preference? I'm guessing there is no significant structural or tonal difference in either? I used a wall on my first build but it was kinda anoyin, I was worried I was going to break it, so I'de rather just not use one. Cheers Neil
  10. Having just got a guitar with a high TOM I can say I prefer the recessed one on my build, I like playing closer to the body give your hand something to rest on *is use to the most comfortable Ibanez trems to rest on*
  11. How long is a bit of string? What sound and look do you want?
  12. Scale length is the vibrating length of the string so the fretboard side of the nut to the fretboard side of the bridge saddle.
  13. Sounds good although I wonder what the grit equivalent of the repair is? E.g if you have a guitar that is buffed out above #2000 and the scratch repairs, will it be invisible? and the likelyhood of getting two scratches in the same place on a guitar is higher than a car, so it wont last forever.
  14. I think it will be at least 10 guitars before I would sell one, and more before I would take a commision.
  15. You wont find hipshot 7s in the UK as far as I know you can get graph tech saddles off of ebay and such, but you will have to get 2 sets for an 8 string.
  16. The intonation room required for an 8 string TOM would make it a pretty wide bridge. 1 or 3 for me
  17. I want to make a sound hole in a semi acoustic top, a rather intricate design, but I am worried that the hole will be of too smaller diameter for the clear to produce an edge, and will instead plug the hole. Imagine a 1mm hole in a peice of wood, if you spray over it, it will probably just get filled, but a 10mm hole would not, the clear would stick to the top and sides. So I'm staying whats the minimum width of a hole so that the clear will not cover it. Sorry its kinda hard to explain.
  18. But if its a sound hole and I want to get finish on the top and in the edges of the hole, whats the minimum diameter to still get a crisp edge without it sticking to the other side of the hole? Could I remove the lacquer thats filling the hole while it was still wet, just leaving it on the sides?
  19. Hey how small can I make a hole and clear coat over it so that it doesnt block the hole? Imagine the holes on an ovation acoustic here... http://en.woodbrass.com/images/woodbrass/GOV+1680+NWT-3.JPG Well if I made those holes too small and clear coated over them the lacquer would just seal over the hole yeah? Could I just make them really small, and then wait for it to dry and just re drill the hole? Cheers
  20. Thats what I was going to suggest, I'm a sucka for pin striping
