  1. Made the nut for the S9 and the SG
  2. I have been busy with work and the approaching holidays but I did manage to get a few things done. Cleaned out neck pickup route on the SG Sanded the SG to 220 and still trying to decide if I paint it or not.
  3. Very nice. Appreciate all the great pictures. I really enjoyed following the outside the box aspects of this build.
  4. Tx. You should see what is hanging on the other walls. Building 2 at a time is easier and faster than building 1 at a time
  5. It is hanging around... I had some offers for it but never enough money for me to part with it.
  6. Back to the S9 to clean out the neck pickup area
  7. Set the neck on the SG. West Systems Epoxy for this one.
  8. Can not see it from the front. Last picture...
  9. So if anyone remembers the Hand of Doom build... during the build the HOD threw itself off the bench and broke one of the horns. I managed to find all the pieces and fix it. To continue with the broken horn mojo I decided I didn't like what I did with the recessed strap button in the horn. So time to plug the hole. Ugly. But it cleaned up nice.
  10. Titebond will be fine as long as the crack is clamped tight. I use epoxy on Ebony/Rosewoods because it is clear and is not affected as much by the oil in the wood.
  11. Already thinking about painting the SG body white and hitting it with a batch of clear lacquer I have that has been in the jar so long it yellowed. And I know said I wouldn't paint it.
  12. RG... SG... Don't make me paint them both Neon. This SG will be nothing special so no reason to get all competitive... I guess I could peel a layer off the top and put a maple burl cap on it and carve the crap out of it.
  13. Dig the fretboard out of the trash. Those cracks are easily repaired. I would just work some good epoxy into the cracks and clamp the board back together. Fretboards do not have much load on them and are secured to the face of the neck by a large gluing surface. Trust me the cracks will not affect stability or the sound in the long run. I have make fretboards out of some very questionable pieces of ebony with the help of West Systems Epoxy.
  14. I have just enough time left today to do a rough carve on one of the necks. I will finish it up once the neck is set and I can work the heal transition.
  15. Next is smoothing things out. I use a regular hand drill with a 5" disk and 120 grit paper for this.
