  1. My friend just built one out of a piece of aluminium he found somewhere. It looks quite nice, but his piece is quite thin so it is quite 'fragile'.
  2. Looking fantastic. Loved your soloist too!

  4. I think he believes 'he's not good enough yet', but damn if I even was half as good I would be more than happy! Great job as always hyunsu, I love your experimentations with different woods and guitar models.. Just fantastic.
  5. Well then there is definitely no tearout
  6. Thanks for all the feedback. Criticism is allowed, as it will help me improve for further projects. Neck is bolt-on, so no tenon, and I will have a neck angle. I'll try making some templates for the next guitar, and try being a bit more careful when routing . It's not all that bad though . I'll try to fill the places where the tearout can be seen. It will be painted with a solid cherryburst. There is ink on the body, not a burn mark.. Anyway... THANKS for your positive and negative comments, I appreciate all.. Today I routed the back cavities, and soon I'll route the pickup holes, and then I'll try carving the top... Trying to scan through the various methods of carving, and I'll probably do it with a sander-type way.. Edit: Oh and by the way.. The thing you have pointed to as tearout on the picture is not actually a tearout, it is newspaper .. I'm not entirely sure what a 'tearout' is, as I thought it meant some kind of uneven routing, but there is definetly no tearout, if it is what I think you mean.. (I don't know if that edit was understandable)
  7. Sorry for the off-topic, but where are you from Jimbo? Finland too?
  8. http://www.gibsoncustom.com/Historic/LesPa...s/57BBeauty.htm otherwise looking hot.. don't take any extra stress, otherwise you might screw it!
  9. I'm not sure if it's that great for guitars, but Ruokangas uses flamed birch as tops. But I believe it doesn't come from the exact same specie, but a close relative.
  10. It wouldn't have to be anything advanced and digital.. just for normal tunings, and then you could say have all LEDs red, except those on frets 1,3,5,7,9,12,15,17,19,21 which would be blue to make it easier to visualize the fretboard.... Maybe I'll try it someday...
  11. Well anyways, I have a crazy idea for a training guitar, where I would place a LED under every single position on the fretboard. Then I would connect together all LEDs which 'have the same note', and connect them to a switch. Then say you want to practice a scale, a flick on all the switches of the notes in the scale, and they would light up on the fretboard, and you more easily practice . The only problem is that 22*6=132 LEDs , and it would become quite tight under the fretboard.. But do you think something like this is possible? edit: and the leds would probably need a lot of power
  12. Well bought is bought, and I don't really care if it looks cheap as long as it plays good Anyway, a small update. Neck pockets routed and some other small changes. Les Paul pocket with neck Les Paul pocket with neck 2 Les Paul pocket without neck
  13. Ojala is a common last name in Finland too, and I'm sure Timo is from Finland, because I saw his inlays on a Finnish forum (muusikoiden.net).. Anyway, those are crazy!
  14. All you have to do is take a 9v battery and connect it to some sort of battery clip. Then connect the positive wire of the clip to a resistor and then to positive leg of the first LED. Then if you are gonna use many LEDs connect the positive leg of the second LED to the first LED's negative leg directly or with wire if you want them further apart. Then when you have enough LEDs connect either to an ON/OFF switch or to the ring of a stereo jack to make the LEDs goes off when you pull out the cable or the battery will drain very fast. Use this to calculate the strength of resistor: http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&...dcalc/index_eng edit: it might thought be smarter to wire them in parallel, if you are gonna use a lot of LEDs..
  15. I have built 2 before this, and I'm not building alone. Building with 3 friends.
  16. It should be fine.. must be the picture.. I bought an already laminated spruce board for this, and it contains quite many pieces, yes.
