  1. Hey, im looking for a neck blank of almost any wood (NOT PINE) its for a bass, so the measurments have to be at least* 2''x 5'' x--35'' the face could be as little as 3'' as long as you also send a few scraps for headstock ears so if you have extra wood, cut me up a slab and ill PAY YA
  2. Im using the nchardwoods.com I live like, an hour from there, so its cheap shipping. for the neck wood the total came out to 48.95 !!! i figured it would be cheaper, oh well.. i havnt paid yet, i may think about getin some wood off of ebay for a tad less money. Its my first neck, so i think i will go cheap.
  3. its ok curtis. I dont know what the hell any of that means anyway
  4. some use an iron, but its not totally nessecery (reccomended tho) and some people put masking tape around the fret, so that if anychunks come out, you can glue them back in. Other than that its just going super slow and being super careful. I pulled frets with a knife and had no problem, with out using an iron even. but on a high end bass you should take all the precautions. what are you going to fill it with? are you leaving lines as markers or just filling it over the same color as the fret board?
  5. wait, does that mean wood chucks cant chuck wood
  6. depends on how long, if the wood chucks chuck is long, and he has a long time then a helluva lot.
  7. yah, thats what it says in hiscocks book
  8. LOL, i want one of thoes things, thier pimp
  9. oh, i havnt had any sap problems. the sand paper gets a little gunky, but i just scrape it with brissles
  10. I post on Here www.bassically.net (totally devoted to BASS) www.totse.com www.mimf.com www.norml.com (leglizition of marijunia fourm)
  11. Yah, but nobody really buys thoes, In general most guitar players wont buy a guitar unless its a design they have seen a rock star play. but bassists on the other hand seem to be more open to different designs, which is why im lucky that i make basses
  12. actually, its not that bad looking. I built a 'practice' guitar out of pine to hone my cuttin skills. and once sanded it looks decent.
  13. hey devon, have you recieved the check yet? i sent it out yesterday morning, so it may take a day or two to get there
  14. well, the string harrdly moves in the sadle at all, is it really a problem?
  15. ok, I tried fullserve, photobucket, and image shack, and none of them would work. Image shack wouldnot accept a bmp file. so how do i change it?
  16. well, ive decided to use wood anyways. And I have the design drawn out, and its on my computer but i dont konw how to get the bitmap file onto here. Im going to search for some picture hosting tourtial and see if i can get it up.
  17. I hear ya on the temps!!! right now its 98* and humid as hell out there, latley ive been waiting till night fall to work on my bass (my shop is with out AC)
  18. scroll allll the way up, and try clicking the third icon from the right.
  19. I kinnda like what frank falbo was talking about. The IPE is probley strong enough to not wear out that quickly, and if it does, ill just make new saddles yes, im doing a tune-o-matic style bridge, but a little bit different. I will get to work on thoes drawings after I mess around here a little bit. and I have a high power metal grinder in my shop, I could use that to shape out an inlay for the saddle. im also gonna check out carl thompsons basses, see what he does thanks for hte replys
  20. i dont get it, I dont see any recess for the neck? and its suspsed to hold with 2 bolts like that?? i hope your replica is sturdier
