  1. what do you mean 4/4 or 8/4 ? maybe a link with an example would help.
  2. I like it, the headstock is very original, and ive always liked single cutaways. few suggestions- smooth out the body a little more, it looks a bit choppy to me (i have the same problem when drawing plans) And to me it looks like the bass side body contour is a little deep, but its late and my eyes are tired so i dont know really. The woods sound very nice, it should have a very good tonal sound. What are the specs? like width at nut and bridge, scale lenght and all that. im very intrested to see how this devolopes. best of luck
  3. Yeah, it wasnt so bad for me cause i joined the jazz band and kinnda lerned as i went. It was cool cause i had a lot of people helping me out.
  4. nah, I like the sting sig bass with a printed up autograph on a block of wood inlayed into the 12 fret.
  5. Im starting mine tomrow! I have some original plans now, and i Just need to draw them out full size tonight, then Im cutting the body tomrow. P.S. Wes, if i draw up good plans with measurments and deitales and stuff, and submit it could i be an advance supporter or would it take more than that?
  6. For me, learning theory, and Jazz improv helped me Tons! Now I can just sit down, pick key, and go. And this is only after 4 years of playing, and 1 year of studying theory. this site helped me, but its mainly for bass. www.bassically.net and www.cliffengel.com
  7. What are you waiting for? parts or somthing. Or just not enough time.
  8. The 3 degree angle would do only a little bit i think, and with a string repressor it would be just as good as a higher degree. I say go for it, its different
  9. Ohhh Pau Ferro, I have that as a fingerbord for one of my basses. It plays very well, and dosnt wear too eaisly. (it looks amazing right after you put some lemon oil on it)
  10. Is there an explanation of schmatics in jason lollars book?
  11. Hey, you all know that musicman stingray pickup. (w/ exposed poles and all) Do you guys know how that pickup is wound? and how many feet of wire (or how many windings) they used. P.s. this is a bass pickup.
  12. What tonal qualties does sycamore have?
  13. OOh sorry, thats not a hit on you.. I didnt even notice your name till a second ago
  14. Untill they find out your broke, and sell the guitars to kids who want to be the next randy rhodes:(
  15. Can you put a drum sander on a tabel router? (I have a drill press, but I dont like using it, as it is in a cramped corner)
  16. Yeah, and women dig Business majors... its true, my friend Eric (now 26) said that in collage the only reason he got dates was cause he was a business major.
  17. for real! its not that hard to come up with some extra money if you are willing to put in a little bit of work.
  18. sounds like the buzz fietin thing may help a little. It makes it really easy to get correct intonation. It may help get that string back on track. www.buzzfeiten.com
  19. The measurments off of my Ibanez 6 are as follows Nut- 2 1/16 spacting at nut- 5/32 apart on all strings (this is from nut material to nut materal, not including string itself) and the B string starts off 1/16 from the begining of nut. Bridge is 4 1/16'' long 2 2/16 '' wide (Ibanez stock 6 string bridge) and spacing is 11/32'' This is on a 34'' scale I hope this helps, If you need any more measurments ill be glad to help
  20. EDIT: try the top (Later) sorry bout that
  21. That sounds like a complacated guitar for your first one. You may want to go a little simplier, and try the top.
  22. Im in the same boat. I got kicked out of public school system in 7th grade, went to cathlioc school for a year, got kicked out of that for the same exact thing and I am now back in public school (and almost got kicked out once again in 9th grade). My parents are hounding me to 'get my act togeather' and my dad is always makin me take drug tests and everything. My dad is also into woodworking (he builds lots of stuff) so now its somthing that me and him have in common and he helps me out, and i help him out. and now he is really starting to lay off me and is supporting my music more. its really cool the way stuff like that works. I want to also become a luither in the future, along with teaching bass guitar at a music shop or collage someday. It seems like it will pay well. But Im still tryin to work everything out. p.s. theres a guy near me in NC named Dave pushic (hes a really good luiter) www.dpcustoms.com and i asked if he knew about any aprentichips or he would take one on, and he said no.
  23. that think is bad ass!!! i bet it was a bitch to sand...
