  1. I think bolt on is much better, Because if you make a mistake on the neck, or it breaks you can eaisly replace it. sustain wise, i dont think there is a difference.. or much of one anyways. I would go with bolt on.
  2. Thanks for the link! its just what im looking for
  3. does solid works have free trial downloads? im looking at the downloads part and it has solid works viewer, is that the same kinnda thing?
  4. He said he dosnt trust ebay... i dont blame him
  5. I really like the shape, and the neck but thats one hell of an arm rest, you might want to make it a little smaller.
  6. its a beutie, i like how you did the heel. it needs a truss rod cover, does it not? ps. the toys in the background add a nice touch
  7. Hey lookin for one of these new or used, just as long as it works and its cheap.
  8. yah, that sounds like it would work, but im not a pro so dont take my word for it. If you do it, take some pics and keep us updated best of luck
  9. Yeah, but the pic is off the ibanez site (i dont yet have a scanner) http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=SR506 p.s. Correction to the neck wood, its bubinga and Wenge (not mahogony) i dont know how to put a pic up here, so ill link to it
  10. a tilt back headstock is not stronger than a straight one I learn somthing new on this site everyday!
  11. On some it is, but on some its not. You would probley be fine, if you didnt take off too much. do you use to bottom frets enough to actually do this, or just cause its somthing to do.
  12. do you know how he got a good sound from shitty wood?
  13. um, i dont know about that one, It would take stability of the neck away, and tear up the finish on your guitar, but I geuss you could. If your new to this, you should probley check with a pro, or get somone else to do it.
  14. http://www.warmoth.com/common/frames/guitarneck.htm There you go, its under the 21 to 22 conversion thing it may not be what you are looking for, as it is an extension, not a 24 fret neck.
  15. No point really. but theoretically you could i geuss, If you were careful not to change the angle with uneven glue. But the pocket for a bolt on may not be tight enough for a set neck, If not you could layer it with some kind of coating.
  16. oooo pimp, I love the simplisity. it looks kinnda like a toy... If i played guitar thats the guitar i would want. thanks for the pic curtis
  17. I think its also tilt back because it absorbes a blow better. So if you crash the head into a wall while violently tossing your self around the stage in a rageing skank, it wont break the neck as easily. but i could be wrong
  18. Ok, I have basses.. not guitars Ibanez 300 dx (4 string) and Ibanez 506 sdgr (6 string) this thing is pritty sweet, maghonoy body with 5 peice maghonoy and bubungia neck. It also has 2 bartolini soap bars.
  19. Do a google search, I am almost positive I have seen a bunch of good wood supliers in Flordia.
  20. Yeah, it would be killer! but think of how much the wood would cost :-/
  21. Get the book called "Build your own electric guitar" by melvyn Hiscock, It explains that exact topic in depth and its just a great book to have. Its only about 19 bucks. www.amazon.com
