  2. Ive had that happen to me, and a 'kink' in my E string (around the 5th fret) caused frets 14 - 17 to buzz. I thought it was pritty strange. but yes, new strings. If it still does it, then get a laser pointer and hold it around an inch from the 24th fret, and shine it down the top of the frets and you should be able to see any high spots or low spots. I doubt a manufactured guitar will have unleveled frets, but its worth a try. Leave the strings on when you are doing this, because if you take them off it will take some of the tension off of the neck, and it may have a relief or bow that it normaly wouldnt have.
  3. Well, If your body is premade then you dont have to worrie about it. just get the neck in there, and put that TOM on.
  4. I remember a thread not to long ago, where somone said that they used a roundover bit on a tely neck. Ive forgotten who it was tho. Give it a try on some scrap wood and see how it turns out. Would hate to mess up that ebony neck
  5. Hey there! Im lookin' to get some videos, or books on doing inlays. Nothing too advanced. Im fine with a burnt DVD or VHS copy or anything like that, or the original. If none of you have anthing Ill just buy some off of ebay, but I wanted to give you all a chance to rid yourselfs of your unneeded stuff. -Dylan
  6. wow, how much did that cost? and are you sure that will sound good. wont it be a bit harsh. PS have fun sanding :-p
  7. My first acustic whas when I was 7. It was an off brand I got from a pawn shop. First bass, Squire P-bass. Sold it for 150 bucks. I miss the strings I had on that thing. They were top notch ones I got from poland.
  8. Hey, if anyone has any extra furrels, Ill buy them for about 2 bucks or less each if thier in good condition. thanks

  10. What about that nice wood you used in that tutorial you were making wes? the flamed fingerboard and all, where did you get that from?
  11. Yes jivin, it is a matter of controversy at my school. ( I live in the south) And many kids are wearing shirts with confederate flags, and even go so far as writting things refering to hanging blacks on the walls of the bathroom. Its very horrible what they do. But some people just see the confederate flag as a sign of southern pride. And Nate- Try www.fullserve.com, its really a great place. If you have any questions PM me, im very eager to see this guitar.
  12. that looks sooo awsome. Im not kidding. I love the snake inlay. It looks really 3-D so whens the bass edition comming out ?? :-D
  13. one drummer is somtimes too much for me. :-/ i like them to keep rythem and a nice beat, but when they start killing it when its not thier desiginated time to kill it, it bothers me a lot. My durmmer really over does it ...
  14. If you are afraid of tearout you can also use drum sanders in your drill press to sand it down, and that keeps a nice 90* angle. But if your careful there shouldnt be any tearout with the router.
  15. In a guitar tutorial westhemann did he used 2 carbon fiber rods, with a truss rod. I THINK he may have used eaither birdseye maple, or flame maple for the neck. How much warp is there?
  16. Hey, welcome to the fourm. We have had a few disscutions on most flexible wood, and usually alder comes out on top. Its very cheap as well. What wood is the neck made out of? And if you do enough research, and practice you can deffinatly do your own finish. If you want more info on finishes try using the search feature here, and im sure you will find a gerth of information. -dylan
  17. I voted for bassey's tiger burst Im a real sucker for basses, and he loaded that thing up with a lightwave system, and that must have been a bitch to do, so he got my vote. But I was very close to pushing the button for guitar maestro. He got plenty of votes anyway. Great job to all.
  18. I am in my sophmore year of highschool. (10th grade) Its very easy for me, and I am usually done with all of my work very early, so I do a lot of doodling, thinking, planning, humming, sleeping, and finger conditioning (I have one of thoes grip masters from musicansfriend I keep in my pocket) I draw a lot of guitars in my marketing class, but Im a horrible drawer, so they all look like a third grader with a crayon dipped into his dads stash of weed, and went to town on a peice of paper. I draw lots of schematics for pickups, but they all seem kinnda wrong somehow. I also draw checkers on EVERYTHING, every one of my shoes has checkered toe caps now.
  19. could you ask the guy at the shop to let you try one of them out. Take a little peice of 2" pine over there and see which one you like. If its a small friendly place they may let you.
  20. You could try askin boggs about his paduak guitar. From what ive heard from his posts its a pritty good wood.
  21. My dad and I discussed this one night, and we decided that the best jigsaw we have ever used was a pritty old porter cable that we have had for about 6 years. Any thing from sears is pritty nice, because if it dosnt work for you you can just return it, no questions asked. And with the jigsaw you will need to get some really durable blades. I tried to cut a 2'' peice of pine with my jigsaw to see if it would work, and the blade nearly broke.
  22. my goodness lex, your very orginized. Anyone with an airconditiond shop is considered lucky in my book. It can be quite difficult to sand for hours at a time when its 98* outside.
