1. Heres a helpful site to help you find wool suppliers near your home. www.woodfinder.com ebay is also a GREAT place to find good deals on wood.
2. thanks southpa, im going to check it out.
3. Yeah, I already have the neck wood.. so thats not an option. And im really after the alder sound. would it look nice to seriously dye the back, or put a veneer over it? and leave the sides light
4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting I got it for 20 bucks, BM crotch walnut. I think it looks fine.. deminsions are 1/4 22''x15'' its goin on top of a peice of alder im gettin from litch. my only concern is that its going to look too woody, with this top, alder body, bocote neck, ebony FB. Im probley going to dye the alder a little darker to match the rest a bit more.
5. I like it a lot. Very good look, I especially like the black laqured neck. Does it feel fast (as in, is the back of the neck stickyish)? The only thing I dislike is are the yellow PUP covers! Ive never liked funky lookin pups, but thats only my opnion. great job
6. Hey, this may seem random.. but it seems like people are making suggestions on here. so... Is it possible to set it so that you can hover a topic with your mouse and see a little bit of the post? so if its somthing your not intrested in its not totally killing your time to look at all the posts. Its not a real important thing, but Ive seen it on other sites... it seems like a good idea.
7. Ive been wanting to use a tung oil finish on my bass, but I would like it to have a little bit of a shine to it. would grainfiller, tung oil, and 3 or 4 coats of poly achieve this? -Dylan
8. Yes, they are all the same size. Infact, the P and Jazz necks are the same size as well. intresting fact: Jaco pastourious use to practice on his jazz bass body with a P neck, because the P neck profile is wider and a little harder to play. And when He would play live, he would switch to the Jazz neck so that it was eayser, and he could play faster.
9. how much are the walnut blanks? and what tops? litch, your my hero...
10. Hey! im also a bassist my favriote sites are www.bassically.net (more advanced) www.activebass.com (greeeat site) www.victorwooten.com (has very intresting stuff and fun to learn) http://www.aic.se/basslob/ (one of my favriotes, very simple easy to learn stuff here) Welcome to the fourms, and good luck with the bassin.
11. you never saw bb king jumping around like a dumbass, but you could tell he was way more into the music than any of thoes bands you mentioned. Its more about presence than about how high you can jump. If your really feelin the grove that night, the energy is just there. but, jumping is a good way to keep time
12. Rain, or water beading off of your freshly waxed car/truck/motorcycle.
13.
Maybe if I throw a new set of strings on, it'll be good. A bocote neck: is that brighter than maple? Maybe I just like a really bright tone; I'm into slap/pop styles a lot. I'd say stick with the walnut; since I've only used it once, my results surely aren't the guaranteed average. Use it, and we can compare sound clips when you finish.
Bocote is a lot like rosewood. But a bit less heavy. I decided against the walnut, mainly because of price, and sound. im going to use alder, with a nice top. I may even do stainless steel frets, if wes's work out nicley. I like to get a real articulate sound, SS frets will deffinatly do that.
14. If you want to try and get your name out, www.interpunk.com has this cool thing, where they sell your cds for you.
15. yah, I was kinnda hoping to find somone that could sell somthin old for a bit less. If no one can, then ill get a blank from a source like that.
16. it would be nice if it was 1 3/4 wide, but 2 would work. Demins- 22''long, 15'' wide two peice would work, Or if you have a longer board you want to sell I would be intrested in that. -dylan
17. ooooh you want software. Well, I dont know of any programs. Try a little searching on google. Im sure somthing will turn up. If you find a good one, post it up here.
