  1. i dont wanna have to go through guitar center, so where can i get the best deal on emgs online? im looking for an 81 preferably.
  2. what kinds of tools do you guys use for doing things like bevels and stuff? i have a rasp, a file, and a dremel.
  3. ive been away from the forum for a while. and i come back to this. . . .sheer beauty. the suspense is building...big time. i dont wanna hazard a guess on the paint for fear ill be dead wrong. but looking extremely great as always.
  4. thanks man. that means a helluva lot coming from "the man" himself. those bevels are only about halfway done. i went at it with a rasp one day until i got tired and ive been working so much on getting the neck down a bit thinner that i havent had time to go at the inner bevels with my files and dremel yet. the bevel on the smaller "leg" of the v is a lot closer. its that long one thats giving me the trouble.
  5. heres a much needed and long overdue update on my work. so ive had a lot of time to plan some more because i havent been able to buy many parts or tools. i have everything now except tuners and ill have those within the next two or three weeks. its almost ready to go to paint. the fretboard isnt finished in this picture. i just layed it on top of the neck to show what it would look like. the pickup route was done with fences and the divets in the dge for the screws were done with a pillar drill. the holes are for a volume knob, a miniswitch, a tone knob, and a jack. i went with a chrome hardtail bridge and a dimarzio evo 7 as the pickup. the paint is probably either gonna be pearl white with black pinstripes or pearl red with black pinstripes heres more pics truss rod slot back cavity semi put together please questions and comments are very welcomed
  6. omg, i love it. i had a similar idea a while back but had to choose a different project. have you seen the gibson mandolin that has a half scale guitar neck? its tuned like a guitar so you dont have to learn a different instrument. cheating but really cool. it reminds me of that. amazing work bro!
  7. i really like that finish. its killer, like a well used axe thats been worn down over the years.
  8. putting in a sustainer would kick butt. im always looking for new ideas to creat different sounds, so maybe ill go for fretless on my slide guitar, it would solve two problems. but seriously, awesome work bro!
  9. simply beautiful so far. makes me wish i had that kind of talent. i might try an lp now.
  10. so how does it sound verses fretted? ive seen fretless guitars but ive allways wondered what it sounds like...i can imagine that theres more possibilties with technique like sliding and hitting notes in between frets.
  11. i love it. very clean for a first project. really nice woods.
  12. wow, thats like a complete clone! i dont even want to know what happened to that thing.
  13. the lower horn is gonna be just like having a normal king v isnt it? only with a short upper horn. the only potential problem i see is balance, but im not an expert, so correct me if im wrong.
  14. well the plywood part sucks, but still progress is progress and youve definitly made some. so what kind of electronix are you putting in?
  15. that continuous wood cover is gonna be awesome. ive never voted for gotm, but im definitly gonna vote for this one when you get it done. your choice in wood is awesome.
  16. i can testify to that. i have had the same air guitar since i was five. the sustain is beautiful. it was handed down from generation to generation in my family. its made of the finest new england air. i once got a dent but filled it in with some prime grade AAAAAAAAAA memphis air.
  17. wasnt there a chet atkins gretsch that had a knotty pine top?
  18. pics would be cool. im really interested in how your projects gonna come out. i love the rhoads v and youre doing one for the most part. so rember to take lots of pictures and fill us in on what goes down.
  19. that graphic is awesome looking. please do post more pics. i cant wait to see this in progress. i love the body shape and every time i see cool shapes like bc richs on here i get excited for pics.
  20. ok, lets just ignore it on this thread. we owe hyunsu that at least. hyunsu, ive been watching with awe and respect for the past few months. you are an amazing builder and with so much speed. im jealous, very jealous.
  21. has anyone seen that guitar in his profile? 'nuff said. how he can say anything about a pure genious like rhoads handywork beats me to hell. i cant wait until he finally does get himself kicked off.
  22. he is giving horrible advice that even contradicts itself. isnt that something that can be used against him?
  23. about iroko, hyunsu used it on a guitar, check his threads. he always gives his opinion about the different woods he uses. i like the way iroko looks, really cool grain pattern. i put a wraparound on my gretsch and it has great sustain. better sustain than all of my other guitars. a bit more research would show you that maybe you should rethink what you just said. how can you in the same paragraph say that the tuners are taking all the string tension but also say that the bridge wants to lift off from taking so much string tension?
