  1. punk is not about great guitars.punk is about doing it cheap. i think a $1500 punk guitar flies in the face of the whole punk motto, don't you?
  2. Indeed....not the way to play metal. Seems to work for the classical guitar players though. ← definately true..they do quite well that way...but i think the difference is that in classical guitar you want no interference with the nearby strings that barring would cause. as i am sure you know,in metal you want to mute the nearby strings as you play to keep the gain from creating noise with them
  3. well it is great that you have your own opinion...everyone is entitled..but the only problem is that since most of us build...we know that a name means nothing.all those names you mention have great guitars AND very poor ones as well...but to get the great ones from them you will pay over $2000...some of them much more....and if you want a custom shop model from them...holy moses you are in for a shock. you won't get a nice prs for $800. maybe your idea of a truly proffesional instrument is different from mine.those guitars you mention by model are allright...some of them very decent.but that is as far as it goes really by the way...notice on their website they have some guitars in stock for much less.i am not promoting them...i know nothing about them.i just want to educate you about the notion that mass produced guitars are as good as a true custom.i think you will most times get a more enjoyable, great instrument from a custom shop.
  4. talk to ormsby.he is very reasonable and knows how to make a metal axe. but i say again...i see NOTHING wrong with those kxk guitars..or the price
  5. that is exacly how i did my first vee as well....(six string by the way)
  6. don't get me wrong...like i said depending on the song i do switch up fingerings quite a bit..."panama" for example... what i usually do is i try to play the song as the artist wrote it....watching hetfield back in the eightees obviously taught me to do my power chords that way...but there are very few applications it does not work well on. but my fingers are fairly well trained....i use them all i do disagree about using three fingers for three string power chords...there is no reason..it creates sloppiness at the speeds i play rythm
  7. feylya...off topic, but i think you may enjoy me telling you publicly that i finally got my hands on a set neck ltd george lynch baritone....and it is every bit as good as anything else i have. very well made instrument.
  8. actually, using more than just power chords 24/7 helps quite a bit.metal is supposed to be intelligent and well thought out,not just a barrage of 2 string power chords.how boring is that?
  9. really?and where exactly might that be? i am just wondering, because handmade guitars are always close to that price range or much, much higher. $2000 is quite fair for a handmade professional neck through guitar with emg electronics,an original floyd, sperzel tuners, cocobolo fretboard, mahogany body,etc... and what exactly qualifies as "more guitar"?from what i see those guitars have all of the high end appointments and they look very well made. a more fair statement would be that maybe "you could get a guitar almost as nice for much less" but it sounds like you are just player hating basically
  10. no...the taper continues the entire length of the neck.apparently none of you have ever used one. i have
  11. X X 7 5 5 X for example. only problem with using 2 string power chords for everything is that it makes the music very plain and monotonous.very one dimensional.
  12. fairly counterproductive really.might take a lesson from drak and learn some discretion
  13. i think you will be happy with either bridge pickup...but the 81/85 combo is a better matched set than the dime/59...mostly because of output
  14. most people in metal prefer the more powerful ,fuller sound of the extra string.heck...i play my barre chords with three strings as well(pinky on the octave)
  15. it may not be his fault.i bought some screws once from ace hardware(made in china) and, even though i had pilot holes of the proper size drilled, two of them broke off flush with the body under very reasonable pressure. of course, these WERE very small screws.but now i only buy ss screws of good quality.that is no place to scrimp
  16. but frowning on premarital sex IS centuries old dogma. ummm...yes....you can all you have to do is ACTUALLY go back to building guitars
  17. ← so is that a vote for or against WesthePope?
  18. naw...i don't accept anything solely on "faith".i think that excludes me. and i don't know...i am feeling pretty celibate lately.
  19. actually they resemble the bc rich speed vee more than that esp king vee....which is really just a copy of the jackson anyway. but yeah..different strokes
  20. you should only use 2 fingers for power chords...even for the full 3 string power chords. watch anyone in metal play them and you will see what i mean.james hetfield is a good example.just flatten your pinky to cover two strings ← You really use your pinky for that??? It's ring finger for me....leaves pinky for PowerChord-sus4. ← don't know what chord that is...i am no theory buff. but yes,i do.but i change fingerings depending on the rythm it is tucked into. for example...the prechorus of "master of puppets" i use the ring finger...it just makes more sense in that particular application. but it's easier on the hand to use the pinky on frets 1-5...less fatigue for me. like i said...hetfield does it too.
  21. http://www.kxkguitars.com/index.html first i have ever heard of them.they look nice.
  22. i think the church's point of view is that if you are not having premarital sex,you will not need an abortion. but i am a big fan of premarital sex.i see nothing wrong with it,if steps are taken to avoid just such a problem. but then again...i am not the pope.
