  1. what's a drum sander? lovekraft, i guess i just like the theory of starting clean, maybe next time i'll try and get a heatgun anyway....
  2. is this healthy? i just assumed...i'd take the old paint off, won't it affect the guitar? (bridges height would be raised slightly...guitar....getting....bigger...captain!..) i got the front and back down in no time...too late to turn back..
  3. hey, there's an idea! cheers, wonder if i'll be able to get thin enough sheets though?...
  4. not sure what i'd actually use... just throwing suggestions around
  5. if you add water it has to shrink when the water evaporates, but there's no need to add water in this case... so i assume 'non shrinking' won't shrink
  6. cheers curtis so how's the intervals going for you?
  7. i'm reading the lable of a container right now... "Timber mate, water-based woodfiller, NON shrinking"
  8. i imagine a little woodfiller would do the job fine too
  9. yeah i gotta sand though 3 reasons= don't know anything about heatguns don't have a heatgun do have sandpaper
  10. ye gads!!! it's the old friday bounce clip!!!!!!
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...3732096821&rd=1 saw this and it got me thinkin, if i could stick something to the back of some perspex(plexiglass) i could make a pickguard with any design.. thing is, what material would the design have to be on to stick to the perspex and look good... paper seems like an easy one to get the design onto, but then how can i stick it without the glue or whatever being noticable?
  12. if it's anything bigish you'll probably pay around 15% (10 for GST, 5 for customs duty)
  13. nah i'm sanding it this time and it'll be a swirl finish
  14. just wondering if anyone's got a good way to sand the curvy sides of a stratlike guitar? other than simply going at it with sandpaper in hand..
  15. yep, always known it as perspex here in australia, it's what i'm gonna make a clear pickguard out of
  16. that second one is much better, still slightly harsh but it's not too bad
  17. if people are finding this thread useful, is it worth stickying?, cos it could be lost soon
  18. jeez, it's all guitars right? just different forms if people didn't take techniques from other instruments and break down boundaries, where would music be today? bland me thinks
  19. different techniques can open up your playing too because they often force different phrasings onto you... for instance, i'd reccomend string skipping, legato, tapping...type stuff to get out of a blues rut
  20. check out some of the modes in the beginners scales tutorial thread a little further down there's a link to exotic modes too
  21. wow, i didn't expect so many to not like it! i Feckin love it!!
