  1. There's a million and one things that can go wrong a cnc is a tool no different than a planer router or drill press. At the end of the day its as good as its opérator. You could put the wrong bit in a 1/32" bit oversize would completely ruin the whole thing. Then you got the glueing up process that can be tricky and there's no machine for that. Then finishing where another million things can happen. And some times every thing goes right but the guitar still just isn't right.
  2. It might make some interesting tops even with some knots if they are solid enough
  3. recently i have been thinking more and more about getting an acoustic the other day i stopped by GC and played a few Martins and Taylors i am looking at there lower end guitars (under a grand) any way i like the feel of the taylor necks but the martin seemed to have a thinner body i liked that. to make a long story shorter im looking for a non asian guitar thats afordable any recomendations other than martin and taylor?
  4. Seems like a good reason to build a neck from scratch.
  5. local custom car audio shops. a buddy of mine uses plexi all the time in installs.
  6. carpal tunnel syndrome? if so i could see how playing could help prevent it. i used to worry about it when i was drafting.
  7. There have been 5473 threads on pickup placement and in the end they all boil down to the same conclusion put them where you want.
  8. i didnt mean that it was a bad design i just didnt see you pulling off straigt strings with it. i atcualy liked the look of the first design.
  9. Once you try and put the tuners on I see problems. I don't think that desighpn lends itself to straight string pull.
  10. Well for the most part the Mexican gov is looking for drugs so are the Americans at the boarder I would be willing to bet it woukd be pretty easy to get a guitar across just leave it out in the open like its nothing special.
  11. Being a strat I woukd think its a 25.5" scale (measure from the nut to the 12th fret and double that to check). I would work the neck pocket until the scale is correct. Don't worry about the gap the pickgaurd should cover that.
  12. pics lets see some pics first thing i would do is check the scale. and see if the neck is sitting in the right place if not then i would start working on getting the scale right. if the scale is right then i would probably either make a filler block or leave it alone it depends on how much effect ist gonna have on structure and apearance.
  13. ship the guitar to mexico or canada then the guy can drive there and pic it up.
  14. If all for if you can fix it and save some money and maybe learn something then do it.
  15. Oh sorry they are chrome I was just stating my experience between mim and Mia witch to me seem to be the exact same tuners.
  16. i may have been lied to but a while back i baught a set of used american staggered fender tuners off ebay and they fit right on my mim strat.
  17. I would put it in a more suitable environment for a while and see how stable it is befor any thing. if it didn't straighten on its own then run it through a jointer to re straighten it.

If I were to build an acoustic I woold look long and hard at a martin kit. There is so much more to an acoustic than a electric I think the first round a kit would be the way to go. Just my opinion.
  19. Andy im not a fan of zebra humbuckers i dont like the finish on the hardware i dont like hockey stick head stocks im not a huge fan of explorers. all that being said awsome guitar i love it and it got my vote.
  20. You could evem rout it to the rear of the chin rest and have the cable go down your back.
  21. Well I won't argue. I honesy don't know all I knew is I had seen the four coils before. But a lot of things happened in the 70'a me being one of them.
  22. Motherbuckers are four coil basicallt two single coil sized humbuckers put together.

First welcome Second i and I think most here will say go ahead and get a decent guitar you don't have to spend a grand on a beginer but get something that's worth playing cheap guitars Will turn you off playing. As far as 12 vs 14 fret access you will be fine for learning basic chords and scales.
