  1. cycling you tube! Graeme Obree was so ground breakingly brilliant that they had to ban his non conventional cycling style twice because he won everything! and three of the best racing drivers of all time Colin Mcrae Jim Clarke and Jackie Stewart.
  2. and naturally as a brit you feel it would be bad form to actually win!
  3. The problem I can see witha drawknife is that the bevel is facing up I'd be worried about digging in?
  4. The stig doesn't measure the stig just does! I like the book alot but I hate doing the conversion (funny considering I'm studying maths!) I like to use a two fold system mint imperial for guestimation and metric for accurate measuring.
  5. I was poking fun at the fact that america produces some pretty shoddy cars with outdated suspension and transmission to the rear wheels and could it be related to using and outdated measuring system? I guess you need to grow up with topgear to get it!
  6. yeah! who? did anyone see the light up guitar that was shown on the right hand side panel of related videos? combine the two together and you have instant micheal jackson light up pavement effect!
  7. I removed my grandpas much loved no7 from the grasps of my dad who doesn't get looking after tools. I like getting something that needs a bit of work You learn much more about a plane that way and that first perfect curl you get is superb! http://www.toolbazaar.co.uk this place is very close to me and if anyone is looking for old plane irons (of the quality stanley variety etc) he lot's I got some excellent bits and pieces from him recently. Including a hugely thick NOS wedge shaped iron to build a plane around!
  8. Can't fault you for that my bad. I meant to suggest that if money is a issue put the work in, good old tools aren't to expenxive but you need to do the research.
  9. Sometimes its nice to see a clean nonfancy wood/paint effect guitar in a classic style. It stood out for because of this! Like you say I would have walked away with most of them but it got my vote.
  10. couple of drops of conductive paint syringed in and then whack the fret in immediately?
  11. A jack plane would certainly be a good choice no7 are not unnecessary but to start you off a jack will do. you can thickness very successfully with a plane it might take more time but if you read up on how to do it yu'll probably find it quite rewarding. I'd agree again that a spoke shave would be your best bet for the neck. depending on the contouring on you body you might also need a curved one. in addition a pair of flat and curved scraper would be ideal. routers are very useful but all woodworkers should have some planes you learn to read the wood and note grain direction and when you get the hang of it you'll love it for its ability to take of that tiny sliver rtequired without the noise and hassle of a router. you can find ones second hand for cheap on ebay and garage sales etc I wouldn't go out and splurge a ton on something shiny and new.
  12. I've often thought this would be possible but your next one should use leds on each fret maybe red and green for the marked ones that would be very cool! if you watch the video you can see what he's doing to attache the frets and the wiring at about 0.33
  13. This isn't the place for for personal comments like that. Avengers you are always going to have someone that takes exception to selling your work I think you were pretty honest on your ebay sale. I can't see anything wrong with what you did. I'd urge you not to respond again its just going to spiral. Supernova You've made your point we get it you don't approve and as you yourself said it doesn't affect you so why keep picking the scab? Lets all take a big breath and release. Isn't that better?
  14. I was so close to buying a gold topped sg2000 but it was so damn heavy! beautiful guitars!
  15. I'm not sure what hardware you have. Kicks are hard to get right I find if you really can't get it to sound good you can run the kick track through a gate and use it as a trigger for a sample and mix the two together to get the idiosyncracies and a fuller sound. I'm sure you could do this in software but I've never done it and wouldn't know where to start! where was the mic placed on the drum and what was it also was the drum tuned? that makes a BIG difference! I can't recommend that book enough by the way.
  16. At the very least you could have read throught he forum and found there actually is a muscians section! My computer took such offense that it won't let my listen to it! and then it did! If I had to pigeon hole this in three words... tryhard self indulgence and i only got as far as the end of that horrendously eq'd bass bit on the first track. "I could have made a nice version of Greensleeves but that's not where my head's at" pity that might have been a better idea. Harsh perhaps but I have listened to to many musicians talk like that its boring.
  17. I used Imperial once and I ended up with cart springs and a live axle!
  18. That is what I call useful information! I've never had a problem with mine but if ever I do....
  19. Thats why i said you should do what feels comfortable. I sometimes use them towards me when its awkward or i'm being lazy. but you might be surprised if you try it the other way. they are designed to be pushed. if you hold it the right way round you can see where your thumbs are supposed to rest.
  20. not that I care and you should do whatever works and is comfortable. but you do realise that you are supposed to push the spokeshave like a plane?
  21. AH right got you yup they would look pretty sweet in my humble opinion!
  22. sounds good! dog ear p90s are the way to go on any LP junior though! EDIT: or is that what you mean?
  23. LPjr! LPjr! possibly the coolest looking guitar ever! P90 and scratchplate?
  24. And if you are anything like me not the last!
