  1. i wish that guitar was mine, but i can't take credit for it. it was a guy on guitar.com that did it, but i really wish i could do something like that.
  2. looks great man, thought you might also be interested in this guitar... 7 string, with an inlaid piece of ebony for the 7th string. 7th string ONLY is fretless...pretty cool thing aint it?
  3. dunno what it is, but it could make a killer guitar, specially if the wood really is spruce and rosewood. a trapeze tailpiece would look pretty cool on that guitar, but it'd have to have a tune o matic on there too. strip off the wood on the headstock, maybe there's some signs of a logo, or some other defining features. i gotta tell you though, it's a helluva project, but it could have amazing results if done well.
  4. that's pretty cool. i think if you were to put sdome bullets in the lions claw routing, it'd look sweet.
  5. "thats called a nut, its usually graphite or bone, not plastic" not always my friend. 2 of my guitars(my schecter and my takamine) most definately have plastic nuts.
  6. it'd look different to say the least. why not paint the back black, then put a clear coat over the walnut(which is a nice looking piece, might i add) and leave it natural.
  7. there was a prototype made, and in production lespaul floys rose, in the early 80's. it was just like that one(the bunch of thin springs in the back) and had terrible stability and stuff, as well as other issues. if this one he's redisigning is anygood, i'll be quite surprised.
  8. it'd be easier(in my oh so humble opinion) to do the dark first, because it's a much smaller area to tape off, and easier to get a straight line. i assume you're going to want the lines perfectly straight, you're going to need a level, ruler etc, and dont wanna scratch the yellow now do you?
  9. looks pretty cool, but i suggest for the black, you spray that area down first, just wider than the line you want, then tape it off and do the gold. for the blood, you could just take some red paint, cup your hand, and toss it on, it wont come out like that exactly, but it'll be a nice splatter effect.
  10. an LP dc would look sweet with that wood, but you gotta keep it natural. the color of the body is just too nice to cover up. and that blackbean you have for the fingerboard is a beautiful piece(the one you're holding at an angle), would look killer. i hope this projecy turns out well for you, that wood is so nice.
  11. alright, i was kinda figuring on a no. if at any time you want to though, just drop me a PM and we can talk.
  12. hey man, dont sell it off, that's a giant waste of your time and money. you spent the time to do a sub par job, one that you yourself feel is all wrong. why let that time go right out the window, as well as some money down the drain? pick it back up, strip it(i reccomend you use a chemical stripper rather than sanding, much better results all around), then spray it, and be done with it. if you want to sell it afterwards, you'll at least pick up some extra money, rather than selling the guitar as aproject got $15. and i feel your pain. i redid my jackson, three times. first time i scuffed up the finish and sprayed over it, didn't work. the finish bubbled up all over. next i stripped it with sandpaper, and had shitty results with the wood, so i covered everything up, made it all smooth, sprayed, and it came out crap. so finally took my time, chemically stripped the paint, filled the grain, prepped, sprayed, finished up, sanded and it came out great. you just gotta take your time. if you screw up, well, just start again. it's a pisser, but you'll be happy with yourself in the end.
  13. you should get some very highly quilted maple for the top, with a nice tight pattern to appear as scales.
  14. hmm, you have that much left over? would you be adverse to building a neck and selling it(to me)? maybe, i wont have the time till, next summer to really work on anything hardcore...
  15. try it, what's the worst that could happen? but i'd advise you to use a card of some sort, rather than a brush to remove the paint.
  16. cool. what's the body gonna look like? hardware? cmon, you cant leave us hanging.
  17. i'll post a pic over at gcom in your thread...i dont have a host to host my pics...
  18. dont know what you'd think of this, but why put the pots and controls along the bottom contour of the fins towards the mouth? they'd look more like an integral part, rather than just tossed on there.
  19. that neck looks GREAT! i love the paduk and the walnut you used. the lightly flamed maple isn't bad either. looks like this thing is gonna turn out killer! what body shape you goin for?
  20. 3 guitars playable, 1 not. 1 bass playable.
  21. that's gonna be a beaut! that paduk as the center lam really brings out the colors of the other woods. very nice looking neck. the body, well...i'm not sure how to ferel about it. it looks OK, i dont like the horns all that much, but it's your call. but, with that burl on top, it'll look killer, no matter what. hope this project goes wlel, i look forward to seeing a finished, high quality product.
  22. oh...my...that's friggin beautiful!!! i wish i could do some wood working, any kind of wood working, because that's a helluva nice piece!@
  23. you could do an acrylic inlay. take some sort of colored paper/other thin film, cut it to fit the inlay, cut the acrylic to fit, then get it all seated.
  24. i didn't think i was gonna like it. i honestly thought when i saw the striping like EVH, it was just gonna look nasty. well...i got a surprise. it turned out a lot nicer than i thought. the color changing paint is really cool. the gold striped give the guitar a touch of class, and with all the stuff back on, it's gonna be a rocker. that's for sure.
