  1. wouldn't the "deadly heat gun" warp the neck? I'd og with what daveq said, I've done it 3 times, but all on bolt ons. Like he said, I don't know if it would work with set necks/
  2. okay, this leads me to a second question then. I've decided on an unpowered mixer and to use a seperate amp. If I just fused all 10 inputs together (5 xlrs) then split them for each out put (2 rca and 1 usb) would I have any problems or should I use capacitors for the splitting, etc. Thanks LK, your a true guru. EDIT, oops what I meant to say was "10 inputs (5 xlrs and 5 1/4")"
  3. My amp has an "emulated line out/headphone" jack. What does emulated mean? My reason for asking, is I have a small cabinet I made using my phone's speaker for speaker phone, and I wanted to know if I could hook the speaker phone cabinet up to the emulated line out, just for fun. In case your wondering I have the Marshall MG100DFX.
  4. Wow, DPDT's are handy little buggers arent they? So, would this be the correct way to wire that DPDT switch for a volume pedal? BTW thanks.
  5. Maiden, not to step on ur toes, but i wouldnt call that an RRV copy, i'd call it a RRV/Bo didley mix. My "rice rocket (?)" is so funny. Let me first fill you in on the sound and playabilty. EMG 81/85 set. One volume knob. Kickass action like no other. OK, for the looks (haha!). It's an SG. Thats the best part of the optics in my opinion. It's got 1 knob like i said, and no switch, I havent filled the switch hole or other knob holes yet. That means theres 4 holes near the knob/jack. I also changed the bridge from a chrome TOM to a black tom wraparound stopbar. I filled all 4 original holes and drilled 2 new ones. this means theres slops of bondo over it since I havent finished level sanding. Theres no paint on the body except for inside of the horns which is a mix between red, black, a yellowish sealer, and bare wood. Since I've left it unfinished for a while theres a dark spot over the wood where my arm would go. About the neck, its painted red with a huge chip near the heel on the players side. Its got a black cross on the head which is horribly crooked. Also, you know that bondo "hardener (yeah, the red stuff)"? I've got a huge smudge of that stuff on the body.
  6. Also, does anyone know how I could get it to be just one switch instead of 2?
  7. it's not that i couldnt do them before, it just never occured to me how htey worked.
  8. yeah, in the end it's gonna be a mixer, and I'm amplifying the 5 mic inputs.
  9. hey, I am building a mic amp and i need 5 xlr inputs on it, and the schematics I can find have only one input. I was just wondering, would an amp with multiple inputs amplify all the inputs the same as an amp with one input all else the same?
  10. I can't believe I just got this. Pinch harmonics are just like any other harmonics. But instead, the note that you are fretting is acting as the nut, and since there is more tension on the string being fretted, the harmonics are harder to get, thus making it only usable if you only barely brush the string wth your thumb. bogus!
  11. http://www.jophis.com/tconline/music/thelo...eutral2002.html theres a link, i like "Downfall a lot, just seein what yall thought of them.
  12. Wow, great work man. How can you po these suckers out? I'm still owkring on my first project! But, I guess it's different with me being 14 and having absolutely no money.
  13. hey guys, I was wondeirng if this mod would work to where if both switches were flipped, instead of being a wah, it would be a volume. heres a link to the original picture http://www.geocities.com/j4_student/crybaby.gif and the site its from...http://www.geocities.com/j4_student/schematics.htm
  14. he was talking about guitar amps, i think. thats what it says in the title.
  15. I got a guitar off ebay once. It wasshipped in a huge box. Then inside the box was a bunch of tightly packed wrapping paper and a coffin shaped box about 4 inches thick then there was a few layers of bubble wrap and a guitar and more bubble wrap and wrapping paper. I was pretty happy with the condition in came in. I'm sorry to hear that about your guitar, Matt.
  16. The joint can be basically anywhere I want it to be in the neck. I also forgot to mention, the joint would only be about an inch across total because I'm laminating this peice of maple with ebony and purpleheart. So not ALL the stress would be on it. Thanks for the post Wes.
  17. Here's some lyrics that pertain to the subject, and for now this is all I will say. "Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal? It’s a natural plant that grows in the dirt. Do you know what’s not natural? 80 year old dudes with hard-ons. That’s not natural. But we got pills for that. We’re dedicating all our medical resources to keeping the old guys erect, but we’re putting people in jail for something that grows in the dirt?" -Underwear Goes Inside Of The Pants by Lazyboy. for more information, and funny lyrics, here http://www.anysonglyrics.com/lyrics/l/Lazy...e-The-Pants.htm .
  18. HEY GUYS IM A TOTAL n00b AND BEAR WITH ME BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT GUITAR BUILDING IN ONE SENTANCE READY SET GO! Just kidding. Back on topic. Ok, I got some maple in today I'm using for my neck on my RR V coming up. You see, it came in 2 peices and the big peice is like 4 inches too short for my design, so I just planned on glueing the short peice right onto the end of the long peice. I've seen people have joints that are angled (scarf joints I think their called?) and I've seen people have flat joints (usually on multiple-peice bodies and neck laminations). I was just wondering, would it be really beneficial for me to have some elaborate joint so it will fit together perfectly like a puzzle, or could I do just a butt-joint, or should I have an angled joint, etc. Just to make sure everyone knows it would be perpendicular to the string tension (parralell to frets). Thanks.
  19. I was wondering, if you built a les paul, and then you gigged with it. Would that give Gibson the chance to do something aobut it?
  20. Wow, classic design, yet metal enough for most anyone. I so wish I could get one of those things. How is the sustain in those pickups?
