  1. Are you saying the diameter of your posts are .436 and .444? If you are the closest thing in inch measurement is 7/16, which is .4375. You should be able to find a 7/16 brad point bit no problem. I would drill a test hole first because your posts seem to be couple of thousandths too small. Probably won't be a problem, but the test hole can't hurt. Finding 7/16 bits outside of the US might actually be a problem... Dayvo- try bunnings I've found some brad point bits there wich where imperial... on a sidenote?...didn't the US officially convert to the metric system in like the 70's...what's taking so long??
  2. I'm finally starting to do stuff again...a vacation where all my money and time was spent led me to put the project aside for a while.. But now it's back..I'm gonna get as much finished before I go back to sweden. And back there I will order the pickups from the UK. Pickguard is done (except for making holes for the pickups ) and all the electronics where completed. well obviously except for pickups. (and I also have to get a capacitor for the tone pot) But anyway...I've never done any work on guitar electronics before, well I did changedthe swirch on my lp once, so It was a big surprise when everything actually worked when I plugged it in.( stole a single coil pickup from my little sisters guitar to test the circuit) . Back of pickguard
  3. I've thought a lot about modular designs.. But It will definately not be something everyone likes...more people will probably like a simple unique solidbody design better... But It would be cool to have..
  4. Anyone know where you could get that VHT nitrocellulose on the Gold Coast?
  5. I was gonna try to cast a guitarbody out of concrete....Now I definately know it's a good idea!!
  6. I've played my first guitar I ever built!!! put strings on it and played for a while It played a lot better than I expected, only got buzz on 2 places....and I haven't done any levelling yet.. Just need to get started on a pickguard and then finish this baby up...then I'll get going on the electronics.. Here it is with strings on it!
  7. Allright...here are some pictures...haven't cleaned up the glue from the bindings and neck gluing yet... You can clearly see the mistakes I drilled http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1306.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1297.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1295.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1291.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1288.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1286.jpg
  8. Update! Cream binding is now installed front and back Altered the headstock shape a bit. Got all the hardware from stewmac now, got everything except pickups! installed the bridge (adjustable string spacing schaller bridge). Tried to drill the string thru ferrule holes....calculated wrong and drilled too tight. plugged them and I'm gonna drill new ones. Drilled holes for the tuners (Schaller locking)...wasn't happy...filled them and drilled new ones....happy with those... Glued in the neck!! drying now...will post pictures tomorrow..
  9. Placed an order for everything except switches and pickups from StewMac now...should be here next week...can't wait to get started again!!
  10. If you split it down the middle you'd have 2 2x4's...then you could just glue them bck together
  11. Ok thanks...problem solved then...I'll send you an e-mail when it's time for finishing
  12. I'd do something about the pickguard..
  13. Well first of all YES there is an HCSB stamp. These are mine and my best friends initials. He is helping me in guitar building so i decided to put his initials also. Second,i didnt say that i ve builted this guitar a year ago!!!!I said i built it in my free time!!!And its my own problem why i want to change the neck!!I think it would be much more better to help me like some members do and i show total respect to them, than being suspicious all the time!!!And i am really sorry for the porn wallpaper i had when i painted the PRS!!It was the only magazine i found along with MAXpower and i used it!!Whats your problem??i didnt post that pic!! Third i am building 7 ibanez RG 7-string copies and i ll try my luck in GOTM with one of them(i will post pics from all of them)!that might sound crazy to you but you will be the judge guys!!(i will keep 2 of them and i am going to give-away the others to my friends)for those who will ask:why 7?? And i would like to thank one more time those who help me!! So you've never finished a guitar?...but are simultaneosly building 9
  14. Does the wattyl come in a spraycan? I've heard not to spray enamel...but the problem is it seems to be the most common type of paint.. Any tips on where to find the wattyl paint?
  15. I'm currently building a guitar wich I soon will need to finish? It's made of an oak "core" with ply top and back here's a link to the progress thread. My first build I'm going to have to finish it with spraycans, so what type would be the best ones available in australia? And also what type of sanding sealer/grainfiller should I use with paint from a spraycan? and does any aussies here know where I'd be able to find some?
  16. Rockeros, Did you build one from these pans? It would be awesome if you posted pics of your build and tell us what it cost you to build. Maybe even show some cut pieces. One limitation I see has been finding reasonably priced 3-d CAD software that you can turn into g-code. It seems like if you really want to design something with complex 3-D shapes (like the arch of an archtop or a compound radius fretboard) you need pro versions of CAD software that all cost between $800 and $1500. The few budget 3-d cad software I have seen seem to allow you to build simple shapes, like a tube from a circle, but not complex shapes. there's always another way to aquire that software..
  17. If I can afford it at the time....I always buy
  18. He he i did not see that myself until now Suport Denmark! No...will never support Denmark...
  19. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1251.jpg Scalloped the fretboard now!!.. PS-on the previous pictures I haven't gotten rid of the glue yet.. Now I have to find me some binding material..
  20. Inlayed dots now!!! the glue is still drying though...gonna get them smooth tomorrow.. The last one is set deeper because I'm gonna scallop the last 4 frets..
  21. This is one of those threads that make me want to build another guitar... ...so what are you waiting for....
  22. Thanks man...that means a lot coming from you..I've seen your work and it's just amazing.. anyway...I'll probably be putting in position markers today...And the back is being glued on..
  23. Well...let's put it this way...I never thought I'd be able to make a neck...I am shocked that I've come this far honestly...I thought that I'd screw something up before this point... If you buy a preslotted fingerboard...it's not really hard at all...I'd give it a try if I where you...I can guarantee you that your woodworking skills are probably better than mine...
  24. hmm...I agree with skibum...it looks off... And um...strat?...looks more like a mashup between a strat and a sg to me...with a little lgm thingy on the bottom.. But the main objective when building your guitar is what YOU want...so if you like it...just go with it and don't care what other people think...it's your sweat and labor...it should come to what you want it to be..
