  1. Ahhhhh, you're right silvertone. I was thinking tuning to open. Why'd you say 1st and 13??
  2. Yeah, you know when somebody sucks at something and somebody else says "Don't quit your day job." ??? Well "Quit you day job" Seriously, if this is your first one, you could definately be making some money with this. That magnitude of guitar you built costs thousands for a luthier to do. It's never too late man.
  3. The 1st and 13th ARE different. I think you mean 12, unless I'm horribly mistaken. Octaves, octaves, otaves. Try typing that fast 3 times, it's kinda hard.
  4. No, that's wrong. Fender4me is talking about a headstock angle, we're talking about the actual neck angle. I'm not sure if you need one, if you were wrong I think the action would be crappy and it wouldn't intone right. Not sure about that.
  5. That's cool man. But did you put any neck angle??
  6. I checked, and they said they were used on a bunch of hollowbodies. That's okay, if I need to bend it a little, then that's cool.
  7. As the old saying goes "The journey is the destination." I just want you guys to think about that for a while.
  8. I was thinking, does it really matter the distance between the bridge and tailpiece?? I mean, as long as the strings are long enough, it wouldn't even be a problem. Am I right, like I'd have no problem putting a trapeze on an sg?? Just my thoughts. It should actually be better than the big gibson hollowobodies...
  9. Yeah, badass finish dude. How many coats of clear did you put on?? Is it lacquered?? Sorry I'm a major finish newb. I'm gonna do a neck thru sg soon too, only white with 2 p90's. Any advice while you were doing that, and how'd you get those bevels on the horns so nice?? Oh yeah, and what kinda neck angle did you put on that sucker??
  10. Humbuckers use 500k pots, single coil 250.
  11. Hey drak, at it again--- Oh wait, I thought it was drak on another rampage. Those guitars are stunning. Might I ask what the occasion is for?? How much would one of those sell for? Just curious..
  12. On a humbucker with a cover, I thought you could take off the mounting ring, and peek back there, and be able to tell what color the bobbins are?? I just did that, and couldn't tell. I've got a les paul BTW.
  13. Tell us how it went man.
  14. Well, definately go for an ebony or maple fretboard, that's all I know.....
  15. What does taper mean?? I always hear, taper the fretboard, neck, etc. Sorry for the dumb Q
  16. Naw, I don't think so. Look at them now, they're tiny. That guy who said the thing about art is a wise man.
  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3774571791&rd=1 I could make this work on an sg right?? I mean, it's the same scale length. I think this was meant for an archtop, but I could probably get it to work?? Any opinions??
  18. That sucks, you gotta be more careful next time...... Yeah, just put some cool, like 7 layer binding. It'll look sweet
  19. How did you glue that top on, and as mentioned how are you going to fix it?? Are the 2 top pieces flush?? Maybe you shoulda planed it down a little before routing the humbucker routes?? Nice wood, looks pretty cool.
  20. The p90's preferable with a chrome cover, ala casino, and trapeze tailpiece, again ala casino. Thanks
  21. Nah, I don't really like 24 frets for some reason. Yeah you're right, I'll just deal with it being a little farther out. Can you help me out on my casino tailpiece problem??
  22. Oh really?? So Would it look too weird if I made the bevels a little narrower, or should I just go with the original design?? Is it that much better tone to have the cm closer??
  23. Hey, do you think it would be possible to have the Epiphone Casino tailpiece and TOM on an sg?? Would I have to make it longer, shorter?? And also I always heard the neck pickup sounds the best when pushed right up against the fretboard (especially on 22 fretters). But I noticed on the sg's with p-90's (which I'm gonna have) they were some ways from the fretboard. Any reason?? Or just so the pickguard can fit in there. Thanks
  24. For my first build I'm going to be doing a white SG with 2 p-90's. What kind of bridge did claptons have?? It was weird, kinda like a bigsby, but kinda like those weird tailpieces. And finally, does anybody have a link to where I can buy them and know if they require a neck angle?? Thanks
