  1. Well, after a long time, today i finally installed my leds. Least one set anyway. My green leds are put in my v fretboard, i will post pics tomarrow morning.
  2. I will get some pics as soon as possible, i gonna grab a digi cam from my brother. I have get the cam cause im installing leds today in my fretboards and im sure u guys will want to see that.
  3. I cant flatin it down cause its the edge not the center of the heel thats rounded. I dont nkow, in those warmoth pics to me it looks like the edges of those heels are rounded a little and arent just a screw edge. What pisses me off is it wasnt me who did, it was my teacher, i asked him for the rasp and he grabed my neck put it down and started just rasping cause he wanted to see if i need a different one. Then he started at the wrong end, and messed up my heel.... *sigh* guess i will just have to find a way to fix it. Is there a router bit i could use and run across the bottom of the neck pocket to make it accept a rounded edge instead of a straight?
  4. The heel its self is flat its the side/edge of the heel that started to get rounded over.... But im starting to look at some pics of some warmoth necks and it looks like its supposed to be that way.... Am i right/wrong? Do i even make since anymore??? lol.. let me know
  5. Nah there isnt, plus i cant get a pic cause i dont my my digi cam here. I will just have to shim it, should come out ok. Cant convert to set cause its way to thin at the heel, plus i dont want a set neck. Ill figure something out.
  6. Well, kinda both, i have a little bit of it rounded and some not. I started just going to work then realized "hey thats wrong" so i stopped. Right now i kinda have both. What should i do?
  7. Im building my jem neck and im rounding it over when i realize that i cut the whole thing flat and thin, with no extra wood for the heel of the neck. Does the heel matter? I mean technicly it still bolts on, i will just have to route my body to accept the small heel of the neck. I dont know, i just hope i didnt screw up this neck, i already went through one piece of flamed maple cause i screwed up and i dont want to go through a piece of birdseye too.
  8. When you get the info post it please. Would help me a lot for my neck project. I want a universe. I played for the first time over the weekend and wow is all i can say, i almost bought it. It was used and 800 bucks, needed a new neck finish, casue someone sanded the old one off (have no idea why) and the body need a new paint job, but other then that it was in great shape.
  9. Haha, Rggr looks we both feel in love with the same guitar man. I saw that on rich's site and was like man thats badass. I want to build a 7 string universe for my next project so im gonna keep a close eye on this one. Just glad your doing it first cause i dont know a whole lot about seven strings.
  10. I got the binding glued, least i think i do. Ive been repairing it all week long. The first time i glued it i didnt use a thick enough bead of glue (didnt know i had too). SO over the past week little parts of it have been coming undone and ive been reparing them, but i think i finally got all the weak bonds reglued good. Today i started rounding over my v neck, its coming along nicely for only an hours work. Tomarrow i will finish the rounding and sand it with 60 girt then move to my jem neck and round and 60 grit it.
  11. Well remember to compensate for the thinkness of paint and clear coat, i know it doesnt seem like much, but every little bit counts. My explorer neck felt perfect to me, then primer, paint and clear later and its one of the biggest necks ive played, everytime someone plays it i get comments on it.
  12. JemHere is the template for it. Save it to ur comp as a pic then open paint and zoom in and look at it. Also try searching next time, this has been covered .
  13. Personally i dont nkow, but why dont u ask the person who told, you which goes where, or look at some pics of some ibanezes and see what they have.
  14. Yes, but the money u spend for a bit wont be nearly as much as if you have someone to pay to do it. Plus look at it this way, spend money now, have bit forever incase u ever need to do it again, pay someone now, and pay them for every other little thing ya need done, ya know?
  15. I can pretty much gurentee you he doesnt. You will have to get one on line, i got two one with and 1/8" cutter and one with a 1/4 cutter. About 20 bucks each.
  16. I got the fretboard binding glued and the back of the fretboards cut with a little channel for the wires for the leds. Im going to install the leds as soon as i get the binding sand down flush with the board.
  17. Take the router with a template bit. Let the ball bearing of the template bit ride agaisnt the channel as the cutter makes it deeper. Quite easy as long as you have a template bit, dont pay the money, practice on some scrap and do it urself.
  18. Tis a maple fretboard and neck my friend. SouthPa is right in everything he does, he knows quite a lot to be honest.
  19. I got my binding glued to my fretboard today. Stew mac says wait two days till you scrape clean. Is this true? Also, my fretboard is at 12 radius but im going to change it too a 16. Is it ok if the binding is sanded down with the sanding block? Or should i scrape it down then reradius the whole thing. I guess what im trying to ask is, is it ok just to use sand paper on binding?
  20. What do you guys use to scrape your binding? Just a razor blade?
  21. Im starting a binding right now too. My first. Im doing a fretboard and body, my question is should i rough up one side of the binding to make sure i get kinda rougher suface or will the slick surface the binding already has on it work fine? Also the binding im using is wider then the fretboard. What i was going to do is was glue it so that some binding hangs over both the radiused side of the fretboard and the flat side then sand it back down. Is this a good idea?
  22. Im going to glue the binding to the neck tomarrow. My question is that can i sand the binding? I saw something about using a razor blade to scrape? Whats with this and what does it do? The bindings im using are white plastic and white pearliod.
  23. How many guys use pretty much just a router to build guitars? I have a band saw but find myself using my router more just cause if i take the time to make a couple templates or something things just seem to come out a lot better then if i use my band saw and sand things into thier place. Just wondeirng if anyone else does the same?
  24. I did an explorer as my first guitar, good learning curve on it. You can see the specs of mine here and the pics here.
