  1. I hate how those steinberger tuners look, the Yamaha ones are the one i'd like to get, but i haven't found them anywhere
  2. well, i don't think trapezoids would take any attention from the body wood, i see it as a complement that adds a touch of class, if you will . Inlays when well used are amazing
  3. I haven't been able to find LSR tuners ANYWHERE, but even if i do now, i can't buy anything from the internet
  4. Just don't put dot inlays use the trapezoid ones or the ESP flag inlays
  5. 6. Here's another picture of the Kelly, with a better light:
  7. I wish i could get for the roswell the LSR tuners, but can't find them anywhere, and if i do, now i can't buy them. I was hoping to find ( when i could buy stuff on the internet) those new style Yamaha tuners that resemble the LSR. I don't dig the steiberger tuners not one bit. And yes, i believe this is the first Roswell Rhoads finished in a guitar forum... One picture of the Explorer

  9. How nice! But IRW doesn't smell of roses does it? cuz the pieces i've cutted/sanded, whatever smelled like anything but a rose...
  10. I too think neck thu is the easiest construction method, provided you don't use a maple cap or of other sort of wood and don't change plans regarding the bridge you'll use. I seriously find it million times easier than routing a neck pocket that's got to fit PERFECTLY in order to have that good sound transfer...
  11. The SG will be black, and the PRS will be transblack and i'll use black pore filler to accentuate the effect There is a carve but yeah the pics don't do it justice, and it is not a subtle carve The top is 1" thick and it's 1/4 at the edges, but i guess that without the glossy paint it's hard to notice...
  12. Hey Andronico! This Quebracho it's not the same as Quebracho colorado that you guys have in Argentina, this stuff is like african ebony, but more chocolate in color, although when oiled it looks as black as ebony. They don't know what the name of that wood is, and some guy at the lumberyard said it was quebracho, so i call it like that, but i have NO idea of what wood exactly is. All i can say it's that it is stable as hell, hard, looks great, i love it Caferana is the top wood of that PRS, it looks like mahogany because of it's color, but the pores are HUGE, it is used for doors framings here.
  13. PRS singlecut. I am building this for a friend: Specs: 3 piece laminated mahogany neck Spanish cedar Back, Caferana top Quebracho fretboard, 22 frets wilkinson wraparound bridge GFS Crunchy Paf pickups. And this one is for me It's a neck thru body, 24 frets SG, with an ebony fretboard, it will be black. I still need an small 61 style SG pickguard in B/W/B
  14. funny, out of my 3 wins only one of them had a blue (actually teal) figured maple top!!! I like the look of this guitar - although i would have liked to see less square looking bevels - maybe more graduated and organic.. although i do like the big block of cut stone look You don't need a maple top to build a PRS or a Les Paul and let's face it, we guitarists are VERY traditional, and there are very few of us who like pointy guitars I'm sure everybody here have heard people slamming Bc Rich for having "only pointy guitars" but we all know Bc Rich have very PRS ish looking guitars and super strats and other designs
  15. build first a bolt on one or even a set neck one OR build the King V without the maple top, THEN build one with a maple top. The experience will help you a LOT. Building a neck thru guitar with a top isn't that easy.
  16. as cool and clean that guitar looks, it won't get enough viotes on the GOTM...only les pauls and prs clones win there ;)hehehe
  17. Carvin necks aren't angled. You can get away with it by using a recessed OFR, but some people likes to give it a bit of neck angle. Glueing a veneer is a bitch!! Glue has water in it, and wood + water isn't a good combo, it's a nightmare to glue properly, although there are a few tricks that work out rather well, but i'm afraid they are better suited for set neck guitars or bolt on guitars as you work the body separately. I too suggest using a thin maple top, easier to work with, and looks better
  18. BC Rich Warlock with the pointy 6 in line headstock, and Jackson Randy Rhoads RR1. Gibson SG with a small pickguard and in black comes close too.
  19. better build a new body, it isn't hard at all best of luck mate!
  20. been looking for my camera but can't fin it... i'll see if i can take some shot with my crappy camera, thanks for the comments guys!! Bygde, do you know Victoria Silvsted ( sp?) LOL Sweden rocks! ( even if i only know Göteborg)
  21. Well we've actually just hired a fella who moved here from Uruguay who's really enthusiastic and a good worker...he doesn't speak much English though and his accent is really heavy so training him is very interesting Ok so what do i have to do then? I can speak english just fine, i even picked up a british accent while living in London, so there's a pretty good chance i'll pick up the aussie as well I can build neck thru guitars, set neck, bolt on, carve necks, do inlays, carve tops, anything you want I have thought about moving to Australia, since they need dentists, but the exams are expensive and are a pain in the arse!! I'd rather build guitars for a living!
  22. Finally, after 4 years of being finished, here is my Flying V : Neck thru body, mahogany neck, mahogany wings, ebony frteboard, stew mac's hot rod truss rod, EMG 85 in the bridge, Grover tuners: As you can see it is inspired on James Hetfield's V he played on the whiskey in the jar video...actually, it was gonna be the same, but the painter didn´t paint it like i wanted ... oh well, it grew on me and here i am, showing it to the world...at least it's finally done
  23. if you can hire someone from Venezuela i'd move to Aussie in a heartbeat to work with Maton guitars
  24. doesn't look right to me. To figure out your bridge placement measure from the face of the but to the 12th frte, the double that amount and that's where you should locate your bridge....
