  1. on the original its a wavy line, not just a straight cut. but who would know? if you were careful enough i reckon it could be done.
  2. oops, thats me not reading it properly eh. it was all the excitement!
  3. aawww that is awesome!!!!!! im completely jealous, i was really hoping to build a devestator to go with my anni, but youve beaten me to it! the shape is really spot on and looks just like jerry's. i wouldnt have bothered with the pots, thats just me though, i mean, how much will you really use them? for me, having that higher tone and volume is worth the small walk over to the amp. completetly kick ass, im going to use all your pictures when i come to build mine. are you building a neck or buying one? if you find a good skull to put on the headstock do let us know where you got it!
  4. thanks man. its looking a lot better now. a few coats of black and its starting to look mean hopefully over the weekend (weather permitting) i'll get as much paint on it as possible.
  5. before i clicked on this i was thinking of the extravagant "Pulse" art work, but the wall is classic floyd. watching with intregue.
  6. http://deadmike.150m.com/bat_5.htm it doesnt rain, it explodes.... after spending a week in the house frightened to go out into the -8 degrees of my shed i finally bit the bullet and routered the pickup slot. all good and well. but after that there wasnt much to do, my rattle cans say 21 degrees for spraying. it wasnt too bad today so i bloody went for it! and ooops. i shook the primer for the requesit 2 minutes and did a little test spray, it was all good baby, then as i directed it to the neck it blew up and covered everything in grey blobs! im sure all the sanding will be good practise eh.
  7. i swear to god someone is stealing my ideas! i was thinking more stylised though... great name lord, is that vince noir and the glam band in your pic? i saw those two girls "robots in disguise" about 8 years ago in london and they were superb!
  8. you shouldnt have any quams about posting this baby up, a repaint is a repaint regardless of what brand of guitar. the warlock is an intresting shape, ive always wanted to see one with just a simple stylised white border round those pointy edges. i really think that would make it just stand out.
  9. thanks guys yeah matt, the wood is rubbish, but when i get my confidence up i'll buy something decent. its just in the UK hardwood blanlks arent that cheap. the best price ive found is £40, the parts for this project only cost £28, so you can see my dilema. teisco, ive already bought a wallhanger! so even if it plays like crap, it'll at least look like art on the wall. the pockect was actually very easy to work out. i just checked the depth on the old body and it was 2cm, the classic fender 3/4". i double checked it on the new body with the bridge (just in case) and it seemed dandy.
  10. neck pocket done and dusted. http://deadmike.150m.com/bat_4.htm what took me months to do on my last guitar took me half an hour with this one. my confidence is definitely up and im liking this guitar more and more!
  11. are you putting some spikes on that or wot??? that is one SHHHPIKEY geetar. the whole buzzsaw theme just fits it perfectly, what about a silvery finish similar to a blade?
  12. aaaww come on, you think up a good idea and then someone goes and steals it.
  13. ive always been weary of the middle position because ive only ever seen it on those dreadful black Encore guitars that cost about £30. someone needs to invent a sliding pickup that cant be moved to any position, next project maybe
  14. cheers guys. i think your all right, the h/s/s isnt going to work. i think i'll just use the humbucker, that will give me plenty of space to stretch out! why the middle position? in my last project i had it close to the bridge and i think i hit lucky because it sounded amazing!
  15. your right nitefly, two humbuckers would look a lot neater, and thats obviously the reason why you never see h/s/s on V types.... but theres something about that, the mere concept that "its just not done" makes me want to rebel and do it! also the fact that it would be so different. single coils are something ive never worked with before and im keen to learn a lot with this project and get my confidence up. but at the same time, i dont want the guitar to be a giant pair of clown shoes when its finished... im still torn. updated body pic: http://deadmike.150m.com/bat_3.htm routered the edges a lot more. i was happy with it before but my partner persuded me it needed more detail... im happier with it and think with a bit of clean up these edges will look great.
  16. its coming on so well! im already very jealous of that axe. why even discuss colour, its black, you know its black, what KIND of black? thats the question. names: the crushinator gisarme (it just reminds me of the weapon) the jabbinator hell forke the stabbinator
  17. i love carved bodies and im amazed more people dont do it? this is something im going to get myself into in the future. great work !wood!!, thanks for sharing.
  18. already seen that one, a bit too advanced for me, i have other plans to accentuate my bat's body right now im contemplating a few things. i had originally decided to use the three pickups from the Session for the bat, but now im not so sure. http://deadmike.150m.com/bat_3.htm laying everything out, it looks a bit cramped and forces me to bring in the neck so that the neck pickup isnt too close to edges of the guitar. im not sure if i would like it stretched out more (not that it will need it) but i reckon it would look extreme with the neck as far out as it will go. it would still sound decent enough with just the humbucker... but i dunno comments welcomed! also ive gone nuts with the router, more pics to follow tomorrow.
  19. "bling" comes to mind. as said before, very classy.
  20. i dunno why it does that sometimes curtis, its just temperamental, try again and see if they pop up.
  21. yeah it is couldnt really be avoided its my last door! all i can say is, the last guitar held up really well. if it doesnt work, thens its not a total loss, the wood was free.
  22. you do that matt sort of nitefly. i did see the bat guitar jerry and doyle built, presented to myke hydeous... then flogged on ebay. theyre bat had enormous wings, it might not seem like it, but i wanted to to something different to that, so i sat down with pictures of all the bats i could find, vamp bats, batman logo's, other bat guitars, fruit bats... everything! i wanted something unique. at first i was going to have the neck coming out of its head. but later i opted for the V style, it just looked better. i dunno what happened with the wings on this, the original design lookeed so much better after the routering is done it should look quite different.
  23. ... yeah thats right its a telecaster... only kiding folks, its a bat of course. this project should have started about 6 months ago, but with swindlers on ebay setting me back and christmas getting in the way i had no choice but to keep putting this off. but no more. http://deadmike.150m.com/the%20bat.htm its going to be a bit of fun, im not 100% on the body or the parts, so im just going to go with it and see what happens, as always im open to advice, suggestions and good 'ol constructive critisism.
  24. i prefer the matt finish you get with chemical black. but black is black baby!
