  1. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y125/mcmeat51/100_0333.jpg how heavy is that thing?! Seriously nice.

  3. it'd prolly be a nice project guitar. you could get it, look it over, ask more experienced luthiers and/or guitar players and find out what needs a fixin and fix it up!
  4. i don't think you're being compared to Litchfield here. Perry is just saying that if you sell just the bodies, someone can do the routes and finish, sell them on ebay, and then your name can be tainted and tarnished, like Litchfields is today. Cudbucket just wanted to read on all of this since he wasn't here (like me) when litchfield was to be up to date. -Jamie
  5. I have tried the metal zone, metal master, pro co rat, and uber metal. Asking here which pedal is better could lead to a war. it's best for you to go to a store, tell them you want to compare the metal zone, metal master, pro co rat and uber metal, and if you're lucky, they'll give you all of them to try at once lol. If that doesn't work, just do it one at a time and play with the knobs now and then. I own a digitech metal master and it is a great pedal that covers all the bases. I like the uber metal however i bought my metal master before it was released, and even if it was released at the same time, i wouldn't have dished out another 20+ bucks for it. It's nice but i find the metal master more up my ally, and if i want a noise gate, i'll get one seperatly. Personally. I find boss metals to lack a bit. Like i said, go in with your guitar (or use a guitar there that's the same model as yours), find your amp in the store (marshall mg) and try the pedals out. If you use another guitar, you may not get what you expected in the end. -Jamie
  6. i think you gotta slow things down a bit matt. I know you like money (hell so do i), and building guitars, but remember you got time, you're young, its not the end of the world, so don't worry about trying to get all these bodies out right away. if you get a patent and sell the body to a company, and you keep building them and selling them, their is a possibility of a lawsuit going on there. LGM is right, companies aren't all gung hoe to taking independent designs, look at what happened with Les Paul. He brought in his first design, they laughed at him, now it's not so much Les paul is Gibson but Gibson is Les Paul. They have other popular designs but none so much as Les Paul. There are a few times too when Gibson screwed around Les Paul with royalties, endorsements, and other things. I think the most noted was with the SG. Les Paul wanted to change the design and Gibson said no and pulled the plug on him (i believe). Every recent picture i've seen of Les Paul he's playing the Les Paul recorder, it seems like him and Gibson have a social agreement, "lets leave each other alone until some kind of anniversary comes up" lol. I say forget about patenting and selling the idea. I say make yourself some small goals and large goals and write down what you're going to do to attain them, and work your way up, and if you're stuck you can always PM LGM, Myka, Perry or anyone else around here that i forgot to mention who has their own guitar business. "If you BUILD them, they will come" - if you really love what you're doing, and work at it extremly hard, you can make it. No one says "NICE AXE MATT!" for nothing. -Jamie
  7. i guess you could say it's like university or college tuition. Maybe Matt you could do what Perry said, get 1-2 jobs, keep going and build guitars, combined with then make a nice budget and put a percentage of money towards the whole patent thing and all. but what do i know. i'm just a 18 year old lol EDIT: don't think it's the end of the world. You're 21 or 22? you got time to get this whole thing off the ground. Heck, my Brother is turning 25 in September and he's still in university lol. -Jamie
  8. maybe this will help you Matt since you're from Canada like moi. http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/sc_mrksv/cipo/welcome/fees-e.html -Jamie
  9. k im a little confused here. I have the ozzman cometh CD and on it the version of war pigs is totally different lyrically than Black Sabbath's. Was this a demo or did Ozzy just change the words for the heck of it?
  10. lol im 18. the game came out when i was 8
  11. that red stain is my absolute fave. The only thing is I'd have an ebony stripe in between the bloodwood. oh man i want that guitar.
  12. whats wrong with things being naked? as long as you think it's hot, let it be naked! haha
  13. lol. I wonder if Shang Tsung will bid and then posts in the paypal statement "YOUR SOUL IS MINE! FLAWLESS VICTORY" haha
  14. i don't have my setup yet but i have it all planned. i'll be doing it through a computer. there are a lot of independent recording studios in toronto, some cheap (20-45 an hour), some expensive. The only problem is you have to work on their time table, and not your own, and that's why i want my own workstation. Computer recording is getting so cheap nowadays. There's a lot to learn but it's not too hard. PM sent.
  15. i think that's what he's getting at. At least that's what i think would be cool. You could do that, or have the metal trim on top of the shield, and also around the sides (sort of like binding) what about this wood? or do you want it to not have a nice figure? figured flame maple -Jamie
  16. hey all. I finally got around to trying to fix this thing. I looked for a new bridge on several websites but none are of the same size, so i'm going to try and repair it, and if that fails i'll get a book on building classical guitars and hopefully find something on building bridges. Here's a picture of where it's cracking on the bridge. It's also the same on the other side, and the centre of it seems to hold it all in tact. Before I remove it, attempt to repair it, glue it back on to the body and test it all out, I have two questions so far. 1. Should I just fill the spot where it's breaking off with glue or should i break the piece off entirely and glue it back on? 2. I can't use any clamps because it'll be very brittle, so what else would work to hold it down just to give it some pressure? a heating bag? *NOTE*: I will get a hold of clamps to hold the bridge down when I glue it, but I want to avoid it for glueing the broken piece back on. EDIT: I forgot to post the picture (doh!) If you can't see the break, let me know, i'll circle it. EDIT 2: Okay. i was playing around with exacto blades under the bridge and i kept hitting this bump under the dotted inlay on the bridge. I looked, i didn't see anything (spacing is pretty small). I stuck my hand in the soundhole, and felt under the bridge and it's a wooden dowel i believe. How am I gonna get this bugger out? -Jamie
  17. yeah i got the idea. really nice. you could call it Relic wood seriously this sounds awesome. i can't wait to see it man What kind of hardware are you going with?
  18. good advice Perry. Now I see what you meant by that. At first I thought a war was going to start lol. So do you think it would be better for matt to go down the path by completeing guitars and selling them on here? *future reference for all of us here* -Jamie
  19. yeah that's the one. i didn't know if that was hotlinking or not, so now you can take the heat for me I understand what you mean by the rough smooth idea. You could use maybe a mahogany with a dark stain, a nicely figured walnut, or a spalted maple with a dark stain. you could do the straight line thing, or even just a circle and have 4 rivets in it. one at the top, bottom and both sides, or have 12 rivets (refer to the shield you posted in the center, or like a clock). I wouldn't use anything too radical for the pickup ring (like a Tribal sun ring) because the guitar is already pretty radical and too much can turn a nice piece into a POS lol. Man i can't wait to see this! Someone has to do this one now in photoshop. I would but i'm TERRIBLE. -Jamie
  20. that sounds awesome. remember you can do all of these designs, when you have time and resources of course and just give them different names under the Sentinel series. i don't quite get what you mean by leaving it rough and sanding it smooth. do you mean just a natural finish? maybe you could have a leather back with the wooden top, then you can use chrome pickup covers, since many shields have that emblem of metal in the centre. Check this bad boy out: http://www.bytheswordinc.com/acatalog/Func...nt_Shields.html it's about the 6th or 7th one down. It would be cool maybe to have a metal trim like that one. for alternative wood tops you could maybe use walnut. If you had a huge flow of cash maybe even ziricote or a dark rosewood. You can also do a wood stain. I'll play around in photoshop and post one up. EDIT: k i am terrible a photoshop. Damn it! someone wanna help me out here? walnut top, or something dark like that, humbuckers with chrome covers, and a metal trim. Then you can have the metal trim with the rivets. Make sense? How does that sound everyone? and Matt? EDIT 2: lol. k, what about also around the pickups you have a kind of tribal design? Kind of like the sun design around the pickups on Tribal guitars. Not as big though. -Jamie
  21. what's with the shaved eyebrows? i see more kids doing this these days around toronto. i saw one with shaved eyebrows and a shaved head and i felt like calling him a Fetus. okay im done my rant now -Jamie
  22. haha. there is also leather or tolex, for that old fashion viking thing. oh yea! i think we got some good stuff going on here. can't wait to hear what matt thinks haha. -Jamie
