  1. Bring it on! I'm currently building a custom 2x12 cabinet. I'd love to build my own amp too.
  2. my strat is swamp ash. it's great, light, sounds great.
  3. I had this dilemma not too long ago. I got lucky and got a nice bonus at work, so I got her a ring and bought my Taylor 314ce! Then 6 weeks later, the neck cracked up by the nut. DAMN! I'm still waiting to get it back from Taylor, but she has her ring............ Buy the guitar.
  4. I picked Mesa, but I sure would love a Hi-Watt
  5. Yeah, I should contact Marshall about that. It's really frustrating. I figured it would be a cheap fix, but the "Certified" Marshall repair shop near here charges $35 to look at it, then $60/hour for repairs. That to me is RIDICULOUS! I found a local guy here that builds and services vintage amps, he said he'd look at it for free and just charge me for parts because he likes my band. That's great, but I'm a little skeptical about it.
  6. I hated Marshall until I played this amp. I love it and would never get rid of it. I would never go buy a JCM800 or anything like that. This amp (was) the best sounding amp I've ever played. Now it's crap....
  7. It had a little more sustain after retubing, but that's it. There was no change in the level problem. I'd take it to a tech, but they charge WAY too much just to look at the damn thing. Also, the ones I've called don't even know what amp I'm talking about. They say "We're certified to repair Marshalls." But, when I ask them if they know my amp they're confused. They typically say "What model is it? I've never heard of that." And of course Marshall has specs on all of their amps online EXCEPT for this amp.
  8. wow. i have to add mine.......a roller?
  9. I may have brought this up before, but I REALLY need to figure this out. I have a Marshall 25/50 Silver Jubilee. I have had a problem for the past few months with my second channel. Here's the deal: My second channel is on 10 to equal the level of my first channel on 2.5. It sucks. I've lost my ability to get good feedback, there's not much sustain because I can't manipulate the amp at a low level. I've retubed it twice in the past year. I play it maybe 8-10 hours a week. Any ideas?
  10. CyberFret Try this one, there are a bunch of pop-ups when you load the page, but they have arpeggios.
  11. The site has been getting slammed because of all the people voting. I'm running a T1 line here and it was slow. Their server is just getting pounded. The address is www.streetfight.net. Thanks for trying, as of this morning we were #11 out of hundreds of bands(Urthmen), and Urthgirl wasn't doing bad either, so I guess someone likes us!
  12. just click on the link in my post up above. it will take you to the site where you can register and vote. thanks for the help man. it's appreciated.
  13. Loki- Did you go to Full Sail? I knew a guy named Loki down there, and I've never seen anyone else with that name... Just wondering...
  14. I second that. Much easier to use your third finger across two strings.
  15. Since we're talking about bands we're in and such I thought this an appropriate place to put this...... I need your help! My bands are in a battle for a Lollapalooza date. There are many evil bands that are trying to win this battle, we must defeat them! Here's how you can help: Go to Streetfight.net. Register as a voter. Search for Urthmen and/or Urthgirl in the "rock" category. Click on "rate this artist". Select "use it." (You can help more by selecting "lose it" on other bands' rating pages.) Thanks for your help! We can't win this intergalactic rock war alone! ......you.......are.....our.......only.......hope.......
  16. How about instead of a battle of the bands we could post our music to get opinions on it? I'd be totally in to that. I'm always looking to get feedback on my stuff. I'd love to hear everyone else's tunes too.
  17. well turns out the local music store i went to doesn't stock daddario cos they appearently had to many complaints about staying in tune so i got EB super slinkys instead i've never had a problem with the d'addarios going out of tune. you need to stretch the strings properly to avoid that with any string. interesting.....
  18. I picked Stevie Ray, but what about Joe Satriani? He blows me away every time I listen to him or see him live.
  19. touch the strings, then put your lips on an hot mic......it'll give you a nice zap!
  20. The line 6 should be able to get the tone you're looking for. A lot of that sound comes from the cabinets they're playing through, not just the heads. The line 6 does a good job at emulating different cabinets. As far as buying something new...the pre-amp/power amp setup will be more expensive. I would go out and play a bunch of amps, then try to find a used one that you like somewhere. You'd be surprised at what you can find at a pawn shop or small music store! Here's an example: I bought a 1942 Gibson 125T (i think that's the right model number) at a pawn shop for $200. It's not in great condition, but it's worth about $1100.

    Steely Dan

The engineering work on their albums is incredible. However, considering that they spend as much time as they want, and get the best studio musicians to play on the records, it better be damn good!
  22. I played GHS when I had an older Ibanez. Now for electric I play D'Addario and for my acoustics I use Elixir.
