  1. I like red and blue. I also like the purple and gold on the EVH models. Those are pretty cool. I like the black on the Joe Perry LP too.
  2. Locking tuners it is... Also, has anyone bought wood through Gilmer Wood? They have the mahogany and the figured maple I want and I was just wondering how they are to deal with. It would be about $90ish for the mahogany blank and bookmatched maple which sounds pretty decent. I just hope that one body blank will be enough for an Explorer, but don't think it will, especially for the maple top.
  3. Here's some pics... webshots album
  4. When I put my EMG ZW set in my Les Paul I had one of the engineers at the tv station I work at help me with it. He had never done a guitar before, but he knew how to solder and I didn't. It actually came out awesome, so he said let him know if I ever needed anything else done. I just always thought it would be cool to have both options in one guitar.
  5. Okay... I'm going to buy the neck-through neck on Carvin and try to buy something else for it out of each check. We'll see how that plan goes. Anyway, I also plan on getting mahogany for the body and maybe some figured maple to cover the top. I was thinking it would be cool to do an Explorer type design with a hard-tail bridge with locking tuners. Now I have a couple of questions... Is it possibe to put a flame maple top on it with the neck extension? I was thinking of getting a 3/8" bookmatched set and routing it doun to 1/8" think where it would be covering the neck. Would that make the body too high? Next question. I was thinking it would be cool to do a 3 pickup model with a passive in the neck and bridge (SD or Gibson) and an EMG in the middle. Would it be possibe to have a seperate output jack for the passives and the EMG? Maybe like a strat style on the top for the passives and a Gibson style on the side for the EMG. I don't know just a thought. Thanks for any advice and/or input... I really appreciate it.
  6. Ride the Lightning Audioslave Foo Fighters some of my own mixes Oh... and Anne Murray
  7. would you recommend using the neck through option for my first project? I keep thinking about trying to build one but keep backing out because I don't want to get completely overwhelmed. Also, if I were to use that neck, would a strat style hardtail bridge work or do you need the tune-o-matic to elevate the strings? Thanks for any advice and great work on a beautiful guitar.
  8. Let's give them a standing ovation for the nice guitars...
  9. They're putting some nice guitars on the market. I might have to give one or both of those a try. They also make a really nice looking SG Supreme style guitar for $269.
  10. Is it an easy process going from the Floyd nut to the Graphtech. May be interested in trying that.
  11. I keep looking at the white one and I was pondering trying to build an Explorer but am not sure I can really beat that price. I know even the Hamers are about $100-200 more than that. Damn it, why did I have to see that auction.
  12. Yeah... MSN is acting up on me. If you want pics, let me know and I can email them to you... Thanks
  13. I ususally post pictures through my msn account, but it is acting up. If anyone wants pics let me know and I can e-mail them.
  14. Here's the two finish options.
  15. Saw this one on ebay. It looks pretty cool. Was almost tempted to get one of those Les Pauls when everyone was talking about those, but I might actually get an Explorer.
  16. From what I've heard those guitars (especially the Orvilles) are as good if not better than Gibsons. So if you can get an LP Custom for about $700 it's worth it.
  17. I think I need to stick with combos for right now. Combination of townhouse life and ease of transport issues (sometimes I bring my stuff to work). I'm just going to try some out at GC this weekend. Look at the Marshalls and Randalls (not sure if they carry those or not) and probably some other stuff just to see what suits me best. Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it. I just know a lot more about guitars than I do amps.
  18. Excellent condition. Comes with Martin Hard Case. This is an all solid wood guitar with a spruce top and mahogany sides. It is definitely one of the best acoustics I've played. Unfortunately, I don't play it nearly enough and would rather it go to someone who will. I will post picturs later tonight. If anyone is interested let me know. I'm asking $500 or best offer (within reason) for it with the case. Thanks... Jim
  19. Those KH guards are designed to fit Strat Plus guitars. I e-mailed EMG because I wanted to get one when I had my Floyd strat and was told I needed to special order one to fit around the floyd.
  20. I just got one of Kirks guitars off ebay. I wouldn't mind throwing that graphic on it. That looks freakin sweet.
  21. Nice work Scott. The finish on the tele looks awesome.
  22. I'm diggin' the red and white swirl one.
  23. I'm not sure if any of you have played these, but I've seen the the Line 6 212 DuoVerb Combo for about $500. It showed a list of $1800 on it. Is this so cheap because it's a crap amp or is it just a great buy? I just want to get something that if I ever get good enough to play live I can get enough power out of it. It seems that everyone likes tube amps but I don't know crap about those. I should probably just try some but I know the tube amps are usually a lot more money. Too many choices... Not enough cash
  24. I'm probably going to purchase a new amp in the near future. A friend at work just got a Marshall 30 watt with the effects built in, (can't remember the model) and he paid about $270. I know that I could get a Randall 75 watt for about $330. I plan on spending about $300-$350 and was wondering what you guys recommend. I want something with a nice full sound that I can get a good metal to classic rock tone on the dirty channel but will also give me a nice clean channel. Thanks for any suggestions.
