  1. What you really need to read about is the history of temperament and harmony and some basic physics. This is what Buzz didn't do when he was formulating his "system"
  2. It'll be tarnish free, but I think you'll find if it's real gold it won't have much wear resistance, gold is very soft.
  3. What type of guitar is it? Strat, Tele, other?
  4. Do the bridge saddles have to move 3/8"? I make it 3/16" If your new scale is 3/8 shorter, that means your 12th fret to bridge distance has been shortened by a proportional 3/16", that's not so much. If you have intonated using a meter, the intonation is probably flat above the 12th anyway and needs to be tempered, which would bring the saddles forward slightly. You might find you can just get away with it. If it doesn't have through-body stringing, there may be enough room in the pickup cav. to shift the bridge a couple of mm forward as well. I wish you Stateside guys would go metric it's much easier!
  5. Use a small engineers square or straight edge and see if it rocks on the fret. I bet it does. You need to be careful to hold it exactly parallel to the string or it will rock on the board's arc and give a false reading. Fixing it is a job for a professional, sorry. They have the tools, skill and experience.
  6. You probably need to take relief out and raise the bridge a little. This is happening because you have too much relief which makes the action high. Lowering the action at the bridge then causes the strings to fret out at the higher notes. The relief only needs to be about .010". The fact the the bridge is already high is irrelevant, if it's fretting out at the high notes it needs to come up. If your bridge is really, really high (like, off the pegs almost!) and you have a bolt on neck you might have to reshim the neck or I should say get it done by a professional! Somewhere I've got an article I wrote on setting up your own guitar. PM me or e-mail me on octavedoctor@macunlimited.net and i'll send it to you. put Project Guitar in the message header or it'll get canned with all the spam.
