  1. would a template work? sorry if thats not what you mean but if you need a template for routing goto http://www.floydrose.com/instructions.html
  2. wow, really nice man. im wanting to stick a thorn inlay on my project, what did you use to slot the fretboard for the vine?is a dremel enough to do all of it?
  3. you caught me at a bad time, id take that acoustic and the LP body but im buying wood right now so yeah haha good luck
  4. well the only thing i use now is a spider II amp effects...im gonig to buy a RP50 soon though just to have.
  5. ack ive been hearing so much good news from both.....to hard to choose... sooo with the EMGs you dont need copper shielding but the SDs shuld have them?
  6. the part i like is that they are both used ALOT...but the SDs are about half the price sooo...i love the looks of the EMGs but looks mean nothing alot of the times
  7. looking good...the damn diagram you sent me confused the heck out of me hahah
  8. I think i might go with the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker Guitar Pickup Set (Jazz and JB) i hear they are good for both clean and distortion...only $125 for the set also
  9. well im making a mockingbird which is going to be a mahogany body with a quilt maple top and a birdseye maple neck. im looking to stick a nice smooth sounding pickup in the neck because thats what i switch to when i play clean, then i switch to the bridge for distortion...i probably will end up putting 81 and an 85 in but i just wanted some other options
  10. is there any good sounding active pickups that could make clean sound nice and crisp?
  11. hey, im currently getting my parts together for my build. i want an EMG in my bridge possistion (because the bridge is what i use for distortion) and something more good for clean tones. is there a problem with sticking a EMG with a nice warm pickup? if its all good, what would you guys recommend putting in the neck? thanks
  12. yeah, im still interested, not sure when i can get the money order so if someone wants them before i PM about the money order, they can have it, but yeah keep listing new stuff
  13. would you by any chance know if you have anymore Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, plus other metal bands?
  14. i make mine. "compression" truss rod is what someone here called it
  15. would you accept Canadian cash? like i could go on a money converter and put the grand total in American and make it Canadian
  16. the way i see playing guitar is all about personal preference. if something is comfortable for me, then i play it that way. my friend has been giving me a hard time the way i do power chords...he does his with an octave, i leave the octave out because i think it sounds weak. but to answer your question, i agree with primal
  17. id take your metallica books, megadeth, slayer, and the acoustic book...but i live in Canada and would have to either send you cash/money order
  18. not sure where to get one but they do make them for ESP basses http://www.guitarshop.net/esp/B208_stblk.jpg
  19. im thinking of going all along the fretboard with a caliper locked on 1/8" and make a line to simulate the strings and then make sure the actual strings lay over top
  20. haha who knows (i edited my last post) but ill say it again "im also a beginner at guitar building so if its not top of the line mahogany, or some perfect quilt, i wont be heart broken...i trust them though, my shop teacher gets all the schools wood from them so i think they are trust worthy...or maybe im just stupid "
  21. ok sorry about not giving all details...i do however know that they kiln dry. they only told me that they have genuine mahogany that is "perfect" for guitars, and they said the maple is very figured and is 1 inch thick. i ordered 2 bdf of each...to my calculations, thats more then enough for a mockingbird. the mill is located near Nanaimo on the Island im also a beginner at guitar building so if its not top of the line mahogany, or some perfect quilt, i wont be heart broken...i trust them though, my shop teacher gets all the schools wood from them so i think they are trust worthy...or maybe im just stupid once again, sorry, truce?
  22. i wasnt trying to insult anyone...and this saw mill specifically tells you its for guitar...alls i know is if i see a piece of wood on the net that is located in the US, i am NOT going to buy it mainly because i will pay more for shipping and duties... and i dont need to skimp out on quality of wood, i have plenty of money that doesnt have to pay for gas, bills, car patyments or any of that junk. sorry if you guys got the wrong inpression, but why retaliate with something as childish as making me feel bad with out letting me explain (thegarehanman) at least thats the impression i got from what you said
  23. thanks alot now getting the bridge properly aligned i could set the center of the bridge with the center of the neck and mark all my holes. or should i put some thread on to simulate the strings and put them through the tuners and find 1/8" on both sides? sorry for making it sound confusing, i could explain it better if you need it
  24. i would like to ask a question... when you have a blank body with no pickup cavities or neck pocket or bridge studs, would it be better to make your neck pocket first then attach your bridge to the proper scale?
  25. how much clamps do you use? and what kind? because my schools shop has these crappy wood ones that dont put equal preasure on all parts, so my glue joint sucked. then i used 12 big C clamps with a couple wood blocks on both sides and used a couple tiny C clamps...got a perfect glue joint, maybe that helps?
