  1. Hi, before i post any pictures, i must say that there is no detail work done yet and i mean NONE. That means no sanding, bumpy edges and no planing done on the top (thats why it looks like theres a line in the two pieces). These pictures are pretty terrible but you can see the basics. ill post more after i do detail work and get a better cam. (using webcam) http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...al/Picture3.jpg mahogany body with minimal quilt top (quilt is there but you cant see it on these pics) oh and the left wing is looks a bit off because the little circle cut away thing isnt circled enough due to no detail work http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar.../Picture005.jpg if it doesnt look exact, it is haha i made sure of that and the neck joint is all rough and probably not even square critiques welcome and remember, no detail work yet
  2. mines the 2500 Series http://www.kahlerparts.com/images/2500.jpg but black....is it worth anything?
  3. i did buy light guage so that must be it...guessing i have to raise the bridge saddles now
  4. just bought some old bc rich with a usa kahler tremolo. it worked find at the store but then i was fiddling with it and the springs came off. so i put them back on, took off the strings and started to put on my low E but now is always touching the fretboard. why is it doing this now and now before?
  5. well i cant count on you living in nanaimo and im only 15 so i dont have paypal...good luck anyways, those are nice guitars
  6. actually thats good enough thanks alot. that really helped
  7. do you cut out that drawing and stick it on your blank as a template? Either way, is it a good idea to do that^?
  8. ahhh so things just got alot more difficult for me i think sorry for being a burrden on you guys
  9. my method of tapering my neck was to: have my square neck blank, put the truss rod in, glue the fretboard on, slot the board THEN find the center line of the blank and then put the nut thickness on the center (which will cut the width in half) and do the same for the 12th fret and the end of the neck. then i would connect the dots and cut it out. does that make sense? im taking the thicknesses and widths from my current guitar neck***
  10. so lets say you have your bridge, neck, and nut all on the centerline, that should make your strings 1/8" from the end of the fretboard on each side right?
  11. $4000 :| holy crap man, that would be awesome congrats.
  12. i always hated parker flys...until i went to my guitar store and tried one, very nice neck, very comfortable, and very nice sounding...weird looking though haha
  13. very nice...BTW, my cousin is going to be on the Dallas Stars soon he went for training with them and is on a farm team until the time being
  14. you must just hate the singing right? because if you hate the guitaring, im sorry, but you're an idiot
  15. couldnt you do what the old bichs did and rout a channel at the butt of the guitar and stick some normal tuners there? http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prodimages...k%20Natural.jpg
  16. do you have a highschool near you that has a shop? thats your best bet but other then that i have no clue
  17. haha i have started its all glued but i have to wait till after christmas holidays to get er' done
  18. well, long story short, i love mockingbirds. so i went out and bought a bronze series and i am using it as a template. im most likely even putting on a black wraparound bridge and the same electronic configuration (different pups though). i also am making the neck joint the same. i think the only difference is the headstock (3x3), and the woods (quilt maple, mahogany, ebony, birdseye maple). is it weird that im pretty much basing my custom on a cheapy import? is there anything i can do that will change it a little more?
  19. i liked them two years ago but now im really not into the screaming music...i like the heavy 'yelling' because it sounds more wicked and more metal...the screaming pisses me off now because there is WAY to much
  20. the wood is 3/4" so i could probably sand it to perfection...so, with planing/sanding it will bring out more figure and perhaps more eyes?
  21. so after fussing to the principal about getting my money back, they finally decided to order it yesterday and I ended up getting it today luckily. I ordered some quilt maple and i would have to say its not to bad (maybe 3A), a birdseye maple neck blank, mahogany body, and a ebony fretboard (Blacker than black itself). I have a question though, my birdseye maple is not planed and still has very rough edges. Now, if i plane it (big machine planer) will more bird eyes appear? Because i dont see as much as i would like to see. I glued up my mahogany and it will be ready for planing tomorrow. I'm also going to book match my maple and glue that up and hopefully finish a template tomorrow also. I might try and make the headstock angle tomorrow too...then its christmas holidays for me. (well, some holidays, i have to work all next week )
  22. thanks for the responses guys lots of useful info
