    THANK YOU. There is a lot of mis/disinformation in this thread about Fenders and their Squier cousins. There ain't that much difference.

    Wow. This pickguard fits MIA, MIM Standard, MIJ, MIK, Squier Affinity (with standard bridge cutout), etc. Check screw hole location as that is the only difference. Same goes for Mighty Mite and probably every other pickguard manufacturer. I've used Fender, MF, MM, and several no-name guards on Fenders, Squiers, and who-knows-what ebay bodies and I've only ever had to relocate a couple of holes. Otherwise, no problem. Seriously, if you just look at what you're buying before you buy it any differences should be painfully obvious. Exceptions include Bullet series without cutout for the bridge, Mini series, etc. Again, painfully obvious.

    I've heard a lot of those same things--from people who are afraid of anything sharper than a donut. If all the holes don't line up perfectly they can't be bothered. And forget handfitting anything. Seriously, I've put together several guitars from mismatched parts that get played a lot more than any of my storebought ones. Ain't nothing but a thang.

    I'll take more pics today for sure since it's been a while since you guys have seen it. I'll also have a recording up when it's done. I have a friend who would love to get his hands on it and record a piece. I ended up hammering them in. It went pretty well, but not quite as perfect as pressing. Just a bit of leveling and it will be good to go. Have you seen Jaws2 or Jaws3?

    Yeah, so far the best pedal I own is a Keeley Blues Driver. Not so much distortion, but sort of a nudge over the top. Very tasty.

    Thanks for clarifying. I know just enough to know that I don't know enough. Anyway, I saw another Jr on ebay for $249 yesterday.

    Are you talking about the blues junior or the blues deluxe? I've played the junior in a store and it was amazing. If I had $400 I would have taken it home. I've never played the blues deluxe so I can't help you there. I have a HR Deluxe and a Blues Jr. To me they sound completely different. Both great, just different. Is it the difference between 6L6s and EL84s? I'd think so, but I know very little about that stuff. What I do know is the Jr. is LOUD for a tiny little thing. BTW Godin, I got the Jr on ebay for $250.

    There is a lot of discussion on a lot of forums lately about how to apply waterslide decals. I never thought much about it, but then again I got a lot of practice when I was a kid building plastic models. Compared to those bumps and curves a headstock is a piece of cake.

    In my opinion you'll get closer to someone's sound by studying and practicing their technique. Ever notice how certain people sound like themselves no matter what gear they play? That's what I'm talking about. The sound comes more from neck grip, attack, the pick position, etc. You master that, you got the sound. As a side note, the more players' technique you can play, the more you'll develop your own style incorporating those techniques. This just my opinion, and it's worth exactly what it cost.

    Exactly what body/neck are you using? You said "Strat-style" but that doesn't help much. You didn't state whether the 22nd fret is on an overhang or is flush with the end of the heel. Before you automatically assume the neck is wrong (most "Strat-style" necks are 25.5" scale) you should post some pics, give some details, and let the more experienced see if they can spot the problem. My guess is that the previous owner put the Kahler in the wrong place throwing the scale off, but without more info it's just a guess.

    On a Strat, the jack is mounted to the plate which sits in an oval cavity. A hole for wires is drilled from the jackplate cavity to the control cavity. Pic
