1. hi what is the difference between an A-Taper pot and a J-Taper pot. Also where can i purchase them? adam
2. how do i have a bad reputation selling things? i bought the neck that way and didnt even notice untill someone on ebay pointed it out. what the difference between the usa and clapton neck besides contour ? is it a real fender neck? Adam
3. i need a new neck for my eric clapton strat which would u go with? a genuine fender ec neck or a custom from usacg or warmoth? Adam
4. Yeah, well, you gotta know possum's history of posts here, you'll know why people get grumpy about him. I'm guessing the PRS forum already had enough? i have no problems with the people on the prs forums.
5. ive heard abalone dust is deadly. i was actually trying to polish the dot inlays on my neck and a tiny bit of dust was produced. im never cutting or sanding the stuff again. was just wondering if i should go to the doctor. Also the abalone or whatever the inlay material is on my frettboard, is it safe to touch after i accidentilly took a tiny bit off( dust was produced)? actually im pretty sure silica is a carcinogean, but to my understanding i would have to have prolonged exsposure to be effected. Adam
6. hi i was just wondering if there are any health concerns associated with Abalam dust. i accidentely sand a tiny bit of of the dot inlays of my frett board producing a tiny amount of Abalam dust. ive heARD abalone dust is very dangerous and has a similar effect to asbestos(carcinogean, abnormal heart rhythm). would Abalam pose the same risks. Also i assume health effects would occur as a result of prolonged esposure. adam
7. hi i have a set of prs humbuckers ( vintage hfs and vintage bass) i was wondering how to install covers on them? do i just put the covers on and solder them? heres a link so u can see what the pickups look like pickup pics adam
8. looks is what im concerned about. i jusat really wanna know if touching the damaged area is hazardous health wise? Adam
9. so after reading what u all said my guitars are perfectly fine health wise with a few dent that chipped the wood and poses no threat to my health with everyday contact, correct? since poly sounds like some real fun to play with im just gonna leave both guitars alone, or possible just get a new neck for the strat. i can deal with the chip on the prs it doesnt effect the playability at all but the finish wear on the strat neck is kinda annoying though. Adam
10. hi is the factory poly on a prs and a fender neck safe to touch if there is a chip in it through to the wood in the area that is exsposed? or is it just bad for your health when you are spraying and sanding it? ADAM
11. im looking to use krylon spray can poly and acyrlic poly, so that stuff is not more dangerous then nitro? Also is spray can poly suitable for touch up work on a prs( polyester base coat followed by an acyril urethane top coat) and a fender clapton strat ( satin polyurethane)? i have both acyrlic and regular poly in a spray can both by krylon. Adam
12. hi i read a few other posts on finishing. in one it said ploy is much more hazardous to your health then nitro. any idea why that is and is it really that bad im just doing some quick touich up work with spray can poly. Adam
13. hi i have a fender neck wich has some finish that has worn away on the back. im almost 90% sure the neck finish is polyurathane. if the finish was lacquer would spraying a tiny bit of polyurathane hurt the existing finish? also has anyone used krylon spray poly? adam
14. lp wiring is pretty easy. u can get a prewired wiring harness on ebay if your not up to the full task. considering guitar center would charge $160 for the job i would do it myself. if u do it yourself stewmac has all the parts. what electric kit were ya looking at? adam
15. is it safe to stack like 7 hardshell guitar case on top of each other with the guitars in them. my concern is that the case on the bottom will break due to the wieght of the others on top of it. Adam
16. cheap pickups are also bothersom. shielding is a great improvement but the pickups play a larger role i think. lace sensor are fantastic, beautfully quiet. Adam
I also like the copper foil better than the paint. I think even aluminum foil is better than the paint. You have to put that paint on pretty thick to get a good shield with it and I hate paint anyway, so I sure as hell don't want to have to paint the INSIDE of my guitar (watch out for the hollow-bodies where they POURED shielding paint into the F-holes and moved the guitar around to get the inside of the body covered with the paint !!! Your other best friend in guitar wiring : Star ground I'm wondering how cheap it would be to buy copper foil without adhesive on it and just buy a can of spray adhesive. When mine runs out, I'll look into that.
i found stuff at home depot. its an aluminium tape used for heating and ac ducts. its self adhesive and like $4 for 500 feet or so. i used that to shield a guitar seem to work pretty well and was very easyto use. Adam
17. do explain. my friends ibanez with a flyod he has to have a guitar tech restring it and he mentioned that you have to cut the ends of the strings (the side with the rings) off. Also it a pain to tune. it just sounds like a pain in the ass. im not saying prs is perfect at all i was just using an example of a different solution. i honestly have no idea what the benifit of a flyod is. and i dont like the way they look with the extra crap on the trem and the locking nut. Adam
18. my friend said flyod roses are a pain, ive never had one. as some of you know from my posts ive learned alot about prs and own several. i just cant see a flyod on a prs or similar body. whats wrong with just using locking tunners that was prs solution? oh by the way a standard prs tremelo blows a strat one away. Adam
19. heres a project i hate to part with, an epiphone les paul standard. has some minor blems on the headstock near the tunner holes. Also one of the pot holes on the body is cut for a 3 way switch. it includes a hardshell epiphone case and a tone pro locking bridge and tail piece( cost me $120 alone). I Will throw in some tuners as well from a prs mccarty. my asking price is $280 plus shipping but the price is flexable. if interested please pm me or contact me on aim possumad12 or on yahoo possum1284 lp pictures
