  1. man that sucks. i wish people still had ethics. i guess that is the risk you take posting your personal work on a puplic forum. man i feel for you. i wish there was a better way to protect the files in the download section. bummer dude, really.
  2. schaller, or gotoh. i personally wouldn't use anything else. gotoh makes all of the "ibeenhad" stuff, and schaller makes all of the OFR stuff, so those two are the best. why waste money on cheap crap copies? p.s. OFR is my personal fave, no other does it for me like that one does. pps oh yeah, i am getting tired of the edge trem push in trem bar, so i replaced one of my "ibeenhads"with a real bar, screw in type.
  3. get a good book on improvisation. learn your scales and modes all over the neck. get some hotlicks videos, you can learn how the pros practice and go about things that way. and practice, practice, you only learn and get better through practice. practice and playing are two different things. set aside an hour for practice: ie scales modes and such, then spend an hour playing: ie songs, solos, or just jamming. alos play with other musicians who are better and more knowledgable than you, it will make you want to play better. there is a lifetime of music knowledge and theory and litterature out there, goto the local bookstore and get some, or take a music theory class. good luck.
  4. did anyone see those silly backward bodied strats on the namm site? bizzare, and stupid and not right all at the same time. i have a great idea for fender, make something new and fresh, and worth the price, not turn the body of a strat around and charge more for it.
  5. the new JS looks cool. i can't wait to try out a "PAF JOE". that will be cool. plus the JSX, oh man that look sweet!!!
  6. yeah Fair Warning is my all time favorite album... eddie was at his prime, it was so raw and refined at the same time, and it had a kickin bass solo, and MEAN STREET is the best riff ever... besides smoke on the water maybe, or ironman, but IMO it's the best.
  7. i though RR died in a helocopter crash? was it an airplane? what di i have for lunch? where am i? this is not my beautiful wfe. how did i get here?... and the days go by...
  8. my main rig is as fallows, but like drak, i'm a mix and match gear junkie, and i can't get enough, it's a drug and i'm addicted. jem77fp evo in bridge and neck, wolfgang special with coiltap and no load tone pot->boss pedal tuner->morley BH->boss super chorus->boss blues driver->boss ds 1->v-amp pro-5150 combo->midiverb 4 (thru effects loop)-> echplex and back to amp. i have another jem7vwh, and an ernie axis that play double duty with the aformentioned axes. in my backlog i have 2 jacksons, one with emg 81/85, other with emg hz h4s, i have a strat i built with a fred, virtual blues and a 57 classic, a tom anderson classic with floyd and a slew of pedals and a whammy pedal, and my old peavey classic 30. once i have it, i can't let it go. the only thing i've sold was my dual recto, i regret that everyday, but i wanted a 5150 instead, so i'm happy.
  9. Randy was the greatest. we always lose the great ones. can you imagine the SRV, and RR jams in heaven?! talk about shred!!!
  10. i'm a big fan of swirled jems. mostly because of the uniquenss of them, no two are alike. glenn for "glenn"site made one with the same color choices as yours, but they look different. i like yours better, and you did it yourself, not like glenn, who had a third party swirl it for him. kudos man, brilliant work. i like your double neck idea, i have had that very same idea for years, but haven't gotten around to it. man 7 on top and 6 0n the bottom...paradise.
  11. i like some peavey amps, of course the 5150, but also the classic 30 is so awesome sounding. it is sparkling clean, and bluesy overdrive, put a ts-9, or a blues driver in front and it rocks the house. the XXX and XXL are also really nice rock amps. i think that JS took cues from VAI, sometimes it's easier to design an amp with the specific tonal qualities you use, then to carry around a couple vintage marshalls and odd boutique amps. peavey has really changed its focus since they made the 5150. i think the JS amp dubbed "JSX" last i heard will be a great amp, plus itt will be good ol fashoned american craftmanship and quality. peavey's are good quality amps, even if you don't especially like the sound, it's not going to break on you. i'm still looking foward to it's arrival.
  12. i just got a peavey email with the NAMM schedule. well JS is going to announce his new amp... i bet it's going to be awesome!! satch has such a beautiful tone, i can't wait to try one. plus peavey make very high quality amps, i have a 5150 combo, and it's rock solid. i'm so psyched up.
  13. what mesa do you have? i had a dual rectumfrier half stack... talk about heavy, dude it was like luggin a volkswagon!!
  14. and you can plug direct at 2:45am with phones and record... while the 2 year old gently sleeps 2 doors down.
  15. may also be a bad ground, if you can make it go away by putting your hand on the bridge or strings.
  16. i vote Wayne Charvel. see wayneguitars.com
  17. my opinion is just that tone is a percentage. 40% fingers 5% attitude 5% gear 50% soul +/- 2% for alcohol induced soul. so in essence SS or tube is just for the players to argue over. peace bruddas
  18. opinions are like @$$holes... i have had a dual recto for 5 years, i recently let it go for a 5150 combo. i got a v-amp pro for christmas, and i can recreate the recto sound almost exactly on tape, or digital anyway. the recto sounds nice, but i had to have it at freakin 12 to get the good recto sound, that sucks. as far as SS being for beginners, that's out of line. i have both, but i played a peavey XXL that sounded awesome, and it was SS. my 5150 sounds great, and it's all tube, but it has to be cranked to get that fat tone. with tube amps you have to have em cranked, or they're muddy as mississippi. look if modeling isn't good to your ear, maybe you don't know how to tweak it correctly. i messed with my v-amp for about 20 minutes and i copped the dual recto almost perfectly. it's all opinion.
  19. volume, and 15 distortion pedals all cranked, then throw your axe right at the amp.
  20. best of luck. i really hope this makes you filthy rich... and not just because i want one. hope it goes well at namm.
  21. i'm only a moderate fan, but the digital mastering on "vault" is incredible. it sounds soooo good. kudos to the engineers.
