  1. Yes i did (yesterday)! But it came poorly tuned, so Mr. Floyd novice (aka...ME), is trying to get used to this "new technology" Although i have a feeling the jt580 (i believe it is) is not going to be perfect...
  2. I used to have a history of buying guitars on credit...the last two years I only buy if I have cash outright...it's still G.A.S. though
  3. Damn, you buy a new guitar every day...?? haha But, question...it says Edwards, but (ESP) in parenthesis. Who actually makes these...?
  4. You could just do inlays of Zakk Wylde's head
  5. Looks like I'ma go with that combo. Now what about the trem/hardtail issue?
  6. No, definitely not using the star inlays. Just using that as an example of the gold hardware on the white paint. What did you think about the single coil choices?
  7. Ok, I have a MIC 1997 Squier Affinity Strat I want to modify. I was looking to do a Frankenstein replica, but decided against making an exact replica of someone's signature. io do, however, want to pull from soem other signature axes, but solely as influences and not replicating any of them. And I definitely want this build to be economical (cheaper the better). After looking around, I've read that Affinity strats should all be alder. With that in mind, I'm keeping the body. After I strip the pant/sand it, and find out it's not alder, well, we'll cross that bridge if we get there. I just got me a jackson with a locking trem (will post pics soon ), so I'm looking to have this one for drop tunings (if so desired). I basically want an axe to handle sounds like that of Jake E. Lee, Warren Dimartini, Erik Turner/Joey Allen, Mark Slamer, Dave Sabo/Scotti Hill and Jerry Cantrell. However, I also want it to versatile enough to hit tunes like that of Mike McCready and Mr. Wyle alike. I know i want a H-S-S configuration. The 2 bridge options so far are either a Duncan JB or Bill/Becky Lawrence L500XL. S-S possibilities are either 2 SDS-1's or 2 YJM's. As for the bridge, I haven't decided on a trem or hardtail. If trem, then either wilkinson, gotoh, or vintage 6-hole. Definitely want a brass nut and either Grover or Schaller locking tuners. As stated above, I want this to be an economical build. With that in mind, I'm not sure just yet if i want to get a new neck just yet. If I do, it will be maple/maple,mand possibly scalloped. 500k pots, either 3-way or 5-way selector, and probably 1 volume, no tone. Not sure about the final paint scheme or hardware color (that's where you guys come in ) In mind so far, I'm thinking eith white or ivory with white pickguard. I wanna pull from these 2: As you can see, contemplating the gold or silver hardware with the white paint. May also relic the guitar, too. Please give me opinions.
  8. Und sind auch schon 3 oder 4 leute die Deutsch koennen.
  9. Why do you say that? Alder body, sd pups, OFR... Not arguing, just trying to understand. I know I can get a quality neck to my specs from ed roman....birdseye maple, reverse banana headstock, etc.
  10. Still think it would be a bad buy? I'd get me a neck from warmoth or....cough cough....ed roman.
  11. Well the guy has 4 or 5 of them for sale. His rating is 99.8% from 113,766 votes. Looks legit to me.
  12. I haven't seen any for under 800...
  13. Saw a loaded charvel san dimas with a Duncan JB and 59. OFR. Only missing neck. Brand new. Buy-it-now price $499. What do you think?
  14. Ok, so it looks like everyone is agreeing on the Kahler. And no worries, I wasn't even considerign throwing a floy on there. I would make a flat top LP with a floyd before ever putting one on an existing carved top. And what about the brass nut? And I'm assuming noone has tried or heard any good reviews on the "les trem"..
  15. I've got an Epi Zakk Wylde Custom, and have found myself between a rock an a hard place. I really enjoy using a tremolo with my playing, but I love the les paul, and would really like to add a tremolo. I'm thinking of the "stetsbar", a bigsby, or a "les trem". Anyone of you guys tried any of these tremolo systems? How much tremolo can each give me (are they bi directional, do they both give a half a step?) and which one is better and stays more in tune? Also, anyone of you guys have tried those "rockinger les trem"- the one that Eddie Van Halen used in his guitars before the floyd? Do they even make those anymore? Lastly, does anyone know if there's any bi directional tremolo out there available for les pauls besides the stetsbar. (No modifying/drilling) edit: Also, would you recommend I install a brass nut?
  16. Finish looks great. I'm interested, though, to see what you've decided with that headstock..
  17. Anyone know the neck thickness (1st and 12th fret) of an Epi Zakk Wylde custom? I've been looking everywhere and seem to have no luck.....
