  1. it could be done witha convex one but personally i'd just use a 4 or 5 inch grinder with a rough sanding disc, doing it my hand sounds novel but unless you really take your time and know what ur doing i think you would be up a certain metaphorical river quick
  2. thanks for this it is going to be really helpfull. now i just wish a certain family memeber of mine that desided to clean up the work shop had not knocked over my bandsaw and smashed the motor out of it how ever i think i don't need it as the rounded ends i should be abal to achieve by putting a round over bit in my router bench and to save fingers mill the slots out with the mortise gadget on my combination machine
  3. i love the look personally would have gone with 3x3 tuners inteasted but 2 quick questions whats the scale lengthof this? and is it a lefty?
  4. they are a really satisfying tool to use and its really easy to pick up a good secondhand old one from swapmeets and small weekend markets cheap and geo if you use a convex not a flat blade it would to it a breaze
  5. did your rose wood knobs come with the inlay or did you do that ur self? i expect in a while i will revisit my first build aswell. it was built with a warmoth premade bolt on neck which i routed the the neck pocket to deep and made the action to high(i temperarily fixed it bye placing washedts between the body and the neck) i feel know that i am making my own necks the i should actually make one for her that actually fits or at the very least recess my bridge and remove the washers so that she looks and feels better. but for my first build i am very proud of her despite the fact she is extremly heavy. another thing about ur guitar i love the inlay in the top of the body most of the guitars i have come across on the internet that have any inlay on the body i feel goes way over the top with it but urs i feed just looks in place and feels right
  6. stewmac sell the schatten pick up wire. by that i mean they but it from schatten along with the winding machines and sell them on to us customers which is most likley why it is more expensive. as for it previously breaking it could be a dodgy batch or they had a differnt supplier. btw i love ur zebra coils and is very interested in the how do make ur own bobbins tutorial
  7. a mate of mine has asked me since i am good with woodwork to make him oneso what measures have u gone to to regulate humity and ect.. in this? love the legs not so sure i would have glassed the whole front if i was making a cabnet i would have covered the draws from sight in the door or made it 2 doors instead of one and used brass fittings but this looks great!
  8. pdf is good and it was not the diameter size i was after it was the depth i was after in regards to the routerbit and top bearing bit
  9. what router bit size would you use with this?, i think all my top bearing follow patterns are too big to use with one of these. also what final file format do you have the cad as? there is no use getting the file if i don't have software to open it cheers kully
  10. i'd never go near my work shop with out steelcap boots! well at lease not with out some footware i have cut my feet or kicked a machine and broken a toe a few to many times barefoot to do it again
  11. i'd have to say the 3+3 headstock as the 6 in a line just looks out of place with the body shape maybe the 6 in a line if it was slightly altered to come to a sharp point like the body wings do. that aside i am loving the general desing but the sharp point the wing comes to under ur controls just feels too extreme and looks in my opinion like it needs to me slightly rounded there. but hey its ur design. as for ebony or rosewood top i think it wound look stunning with both top 1/2 one bottom 1/2 the other contrasting the 2 timber colours
  12. ouch!!!! don't supose you have a pic of that? it is very easy to do stupid things to one self with power tools a mate of mine was subing a wood shop class and teaching kids how to use a jigsaw got his hair stuck in whre the motor and the blade meet goes to show how distracting having others in ur work space is. so watch the fingers, tie your hair up, use safty glasses and ear protection and DO NOT use gloves when using machines you will lose a hand!
  13. nice work i love how the lighter coloured timber goes through the middle of the body. what pick ups are you going to are thinking about going to put in the guitar? welcome to the forum i am also farily new and really digging this space on the internet. enjoy!
  14. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=7908...p;id=1441872939 there is a public link to the bass (i had it as my profile pic for a while and can't find the pic on my comp to upload)
  15. yeah sorry that was a typo meant to say "of" and chops oh i know jarrah is heavey most of my house is built from it. and i work part time in a timber mill next to mundijong shiftting it. i have already hollowed the sucker out and glued the neck through and without cutting the shape out yet she is already lighter than my bass that i made with a warmoth bolt on neck out of the same piece of jarrah (i will post a picture as soon as i figuar out how to) p.s. about losing fingers i am very consious about that my ad made his two middle fingers on one hand the same length thicknesser when i was very young
