  1. Keeping it flat while attaching it to the wood is sometimes difficult, all paper, even thick like a poster will absorb moisture and want to roll up, or cause "waves" across the picture. Again test several times first.
  2. I personally don't see much of a market for it, at least not as a stand alone. If you already have a CNC and just want another revenue stream to maximize the use of the CNC, it might be a good idea. Look at Drak coming in with simple, to the point logic!
  3. Yes (depending on the wood used) they would need some kind of protection. If it is a maple board, you options are almost endless because you will have to put a finish on it anyway.
  4. Unless he means two 4/4 boards (once surfaced are about 3/4inch) +1 draw it out
  5. Ok, let me be the one to revert back to high school and say... Now Some Strange Spots In My Wood! See a Dr. I rubbed it a bit and it didn't go away ... granted I was too afraid to make a dent or something. Stop...Too much I'm sorry, I had to. But +12 for being in the wood. And i'm guessing the strat pickguard won't cover it? It doesn't seem to be distracting to me though
  6. WInderz = BAD Firefox = Good Me too, got the virus on the windows machine (work) and not much on the home PC
  7. I just bought a DeVillbis to replace my old gun, love it. I have a couple of Crescendo airbrushes for bursts and detailing. Not familiar with the Sata
  8. Doesn't sound like it is worth the time. Try limiting your questions to just a couple and you will get more answers.
  9. Welcome to the insanity! I think a kit is the best way to introduce yourself to guitar building, unless you have worked on many repairs and upgrades previously. This way you learn the build process and some of the whats and why fors but still have a base to work from to keep you in the right direction. Keep it up, have you thought about a finish? Keeping it natural or will you paint? Godin tells no lies...addictive.
  10. Also, keep in mind this site, most of which is totally free to us, takes work to build AND costs money to host. I'm sure Brian appreciates the dollar, as we all do, but I can guarantee you that the knowledge you get from this site will well exceed a $10, $20 or $50 donation
  11. Sold, Thanks. I can get more if anyone is interested
  12. Loved all the ones mentioned... Can't say this is actually my favorite... And is certainly not the most technically advanced... But I dig the simple lead in (the original) Baker Street... I also thought Elliot Easton had some tasty stuff. Short and to the point
  13. At the risk of sounding too obvious... Make sure the neck is straight first.
  14. Michael Vangerov Liquid Blue(?) And I also like your sketch better, and also would prefer the 3 on 3. This would not be an easy first carve, but give it a shot!
  15. Many have thought of this too. Keep this in mind as you are doing your research, many details other than pickups and configurations go into the overall sound of an instrument. What you will find if you make a guitar like this, is you will wind up with many sounds but none of them will be great. If you build a guitar for a great strat sound, your Jazz and distortion sounds may not be ideal, (and vise versa). Also this type of setup may not be stage friendly. Before you venture in and start spending money, make sure it is what you want. and keep us posted. I don't know if this will help you play better...
  16. I also sent the guy a note asking about 1/8th sawn, and his reply was "who said they were 1/8 sawn, I have no idea what you are talking about." When I reopened his ads, they had been changed. thanks for the heads up.
  17. $59 w/ free shipping (only for PG'ers) to the continental US (Lower 48, only, sorry, I'm not set up to ship elsewhere). Only one available as this is what was left over from an order. One piece solid striped (South American) Mahogany Just over 13 inches wide a hair over 1.75 inches thick Just over 19 inches long Great piece with just a small chip in corner, See Picture PM if interested, thanks Terry D.
  18. +1 Never worried about problems with the homebuilds or parts mansters, even the early ones in the 80's played and sounded great. They just may not have looked as good back then.
  19. Lets talk marketing, and your new... "GOTHIC NECK" It will sell a bunch, just get a picture with some big name and you are off to the bank. I'm glad we can laugh at ourselves here, I enjoy that so much more, thanks for sharing!
  20. No, I got what you were saying. I was politelty trying to say, if it was my money, I probably would not spend it on that mod. And to make sure that you were not wasting your money on something that you would not use. But if you are then... Now to answer your other question, replacing the pickups would probably make a noticable difference, but again may not be worth the cost. I'm not that familiar with the M80, but the Duncan Designed pups are usually ok. Basswood can be used for Rock and distorted sounds but sometimes lacks in other areas. You won't find a right or wrong answer as it will all depend on you style, the music you plan to plan and what you like. Maybe if you could ask a more specific question, people here would be more inclined to answer. I hope this helps!
  21. Rashin got mine, toddler 2. All were great and I loved the breadbox
