    Isis

I highly doubt it is true. None of the songs I have have the signature Chancellor sound. Perhaps you are getting Isis confused with his old UK band Peach? He played with Peach before joining Tool. ← Nope, I'm right hahaha... http://psychcentral.com/psypsych/Justin_Chancellor read the first line after the first Paragraph.
  2. I think it does, but to tell you the truth, I have no idea how and which way it affects the sound. I'd like to learn about this aswell.
  3. Honestly, I've never been a fan of the PRS singlecut. I absolutely love the look of the doublecut. But as some other peopl ehave said, the feel just isn't there sometimes and something feels missing. I'd go with a Les Paul, But I would have to find the right one, which hasn't happened yet.
  4. at least they have more style than a strat, explorer,sg,or les paul ← You like style eh? It's a natural thing about me... I just like simple stuff. and in my opinion I don't like pointy black guitars. It's all opinion ← so make yourself a bunch of bo diddley guitars and leave me and my pointy guitars out of it so you must be a fan of nirvana ← Hell no

I think the music is good. Singing is not my thing, don't like the style... Do you by any chance know if this is ture: I heard that Justin Chancellor of Tool played with Isis or something. Do you know anything about that?
  6. Hi everyone. I just finished my first guitar... and I've realized how addicting guitar building is. I have a month left of summer, and while I'm not playing guitar, I have nothing to do, so I want go go buy another piece of wood (or two) and start on body #2... the guitar would be due next summer. Now, I'm stuck on these three. I really like the simplicity of the modern eagle... but I also like how it's got all the roundedness... I forget the real word I'm looking for. And I like how everything looks all together in the package. One thing I DON'T like is the fect that it might turn out weird without a set neck because of the way the 'horns' meet the heel. But, I also like the... 'BAM!' of the Explorer. I haven't seen many guitars like it, and I have yet to have a guitar that is Pointy. I don't like really pointy guitars, but I seem to like V's and explorers. And, V's. I like the gibson because it has symmetry. but I like how the jackson looks so sharp. I'm aware that V's also mught be easier with a neck through??? but i don't have the money to buy the parts yet... just the wood for the body. Thanks for your opinion, and I put an OTHER choice just in case. This poll is just to help me because I'm really stuck. P.S... for the OTHER choice, don't tell me Strat, Les Paul, Ibanez AX style, BC Rich style(s), or RG style... thanks, I just don't have the intrest in making any of those just yet. EDIT: Just in case anyone thinks this poll is out of place; it isn't, becase it it a 'thought' in progress and it will progress, and turn into a guitar sooner or later.
  7. Hmm might just be the easiest way... thanks.
  8. http://photobucket.com/albums/v215/Sobot/?...nt=P1010008.jpg that's my guitar (bad picture, sorry). Regular thickness... I know that the strap pin that is closer to the neck is a problem because usually, the horn is longer on guitar such as a strat, which would make it better for balance... to say HOW MUCH it falls is, if I let go of the neck, it'll fall pretty fast... hmmm. I don't know how to say it. I just feel that I need to hold the neck up when playing.
  9. My newly built guitar is done, and Because I thought Mahogany would be too heavy, I got Obeche, and it's too light... because there's only 1 pickup in the guitar, and a light HT bridge. So . ' . (therefore) I have a neck heavy guitar. Does anyone have any recommendations to fix this? Weights? routing in the back and putting in weights? haha, mercury injection? thanks.
  10. you got it from exotic woods??? cool stuff, where do you live? because I live 15 minutes away from that place, they have some nice stuff.
  11. that's awesome... do you have a before picture?
  12. !!! NO NEED TO REPLY TO THIS THREAD !!! MY QUESTIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED THANK YOU>
  13. I know little to nothing about finishing wood, but I started with whatever knowledge I have... what do you think? Saturday (last) - 1 coat of Polymerized Tung oil: back of neck/headstock, entire body. Sunday - lightly sand with 320 grit then same as Saturday Monday - Same as Saturday Tuesday - " " Wednesday - " " Today (Thursday) - " " Friday - " " Saturday - " " Sunday - " " Monday - lightly sand with 400 grit then final coat. ....after rubbing the excess tung oil off... leave it to completely dry for 2 days So how does that sound? 10 coats? Too little? Too much? Also... even though I masked off the fretboard (ebony), I end up getting some tung oil on the edges of the fingerboard. Is this a bad thing? Whenever I do, I try to rub it up as much as possible with a damp piece of an ol t-shirt (instead of a cloth), but there's always some left. Won't it just wear off the fretboard eventually? Thanks.
  14. Why don't you use their express shipping? I got all... and I mean all (except for neck and body) my parts from Stewmac. I ordered it on a tuesday (before 4:00) and it arrived thursday at 11:00 AM ...I live in Burlington Ontario.
  15. if it's a strong leather, why not just stretch it onto the guitar and use extra screws that go down into the wood a lot more than regular screws? maybe you could somehow rivet the leather on... hmmm
  16. redoing it isn't a bad thing though, as long as I don't have to take the neck off the body... would I have to? P.S. I've been waiting to post a picture of my guitar for a long time now, here it is so far (not sanded, and the neck IS NOT attached) http://photobucket.com/albums/v215/Sobot/?...nt=P1010003.jpg tell me what you think of the design, it's gonna stay like that, no bevelled edge or anything
  17. wow, never thought of that, good idea... I do have the screws, I've had them for over a month.
  18. Thanks for the replies. What kind of wax should I use for the neck (or body even?) after the oil finish is done? Do I even need the wax? AND does anyone think that Danish oil would be more suitable for the neck?
  19. I know this question seems like it would be easy to find using a search, but trust me, it isn't. How do I know which size drill bit to use on the neck where it will be attached. I know it has to be smaller than the screw (that's obvious). I also know that the holes going through the guitar body for the screws have to be big enough for the screws to go through right? I'm using standard stratocaster-style bolt-on screws with the back plate (off of stewmac). if anyone can answer this or give me a link to where it is answered, I would be so happy, because tomorrow is my only day to use the drill press, or I have to wait a full week. thank you!
  20. I've heard that people have had problems with Pure tung oil and drying. Would anyone recommend getting the polymerized Tung oil instead of the Pure? Also. I'm gonna be finishing an entire neck (back and headstock) and an entire body (about the same surfce area as a strat body...). How much of the oil do you think I would need? They come in 250mL, 500mL, and 1L. Thanks.
  21. would this be an easy alternative? Would it look good and just be easy to do? http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=...cat=1,190,42942 and what about this for the neck? http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=...cat=1,190,42942
  22. Ok thanks, that's fine, that's what i said at the beginning to tell me if oil finish is bad.
  23. thanks everyone. What does polymerized mean? Would it be better than pure? I'm not much of a paint person, but I live very close to a lee valley : http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=...t=1,190&p=42942 would any of those be suitable for the back of the neck or the body, I DO NOT want it to turn darker. Also, I see a gel finish there, would that be good enough for all the traffic on the neck?
  24. I've decided I'm going to use Tung oil to finish my guitar (someone tell me if it's a bad idea!). Just a couple of questions... can I apply it directly to super-fine sanded wood that has been cleaned (of dust) very well or do I need something before? Also, will it darken the wood at all? It needs to stay the same wood colour that it is!!! Thank you!
