  1. Hey there, I'm looking for some router bits, and was wondering if anyone had any they didn't want to use, or if anyone could get them locally and could get them out to me here (for a fair commision or something?)? I'm looking for: 1/2 x 1/2 Template bit (alternatively, if not available, a 1/2 x 3/4 (length) would do fine) 45 Degree Chamfer Bit (I'm looking for about 1/2" or more of bevel) 1/4" Roundover bit All 1/4" Shank, all with bearings (not oversized) Brands I'd like are: CMT, WhiteSide, Freud (I get lots of freud bits here, but no template ones, and the bearings are a real pain to get), Canwood, etc... Cheers, and thanks for any help, Nish P.S. I know I could get these bits from places like stewmac, or routerbits.com, or even house of tools (canadian), but everywhere in the states wants at least $17 for shipping (more than the bit itself in most cases), or as in house of tools, doesn't have the right bits in stock.
  2. Sorry bout that matt and mattia, was reading mattia's beatifully inlayed old GOTM entry and got a bit confused. Sears doesn't stock my band saw blade size here in Canada (this one was custom ordered through them....bad idea...), so that kinda sucks. Cheers, Nish
  3. The Ibanez... http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/country/frame_canada.html Liquid Smooth.....
  4. 2 of em....wow!!! Hey Mattia, what're are considered good blades to you? Cheers, Nish
  5. hey man...this is what you absolutely need to get!!! http://www.houseoftools.com/product.htm?pid=198062 I've got a 14" bandsaw and it seems to work wonders. I used to have a craftsman "pro" 9inch one.....garbage! Cheers, Nish
  6. that's super cool matt!! I've been following this thread for a while, and you've done some damn fine work! What's it sound like? Cheers, Nish
  7. hey man, I LOVE violins! Check out MATT's link..amazing stuff!!! (I read through the whole thing slowly for an hour, it's amazing!) Cheers, and good luck! Nish
  8. Hey, I just went and got my copy of autocad (I bought one for my circuit board design...completely slipped my mind to try it for this!). Now the problem is that I don't know how to use the software well. I can plot the drawing now, and it's coming out full size, but it'll only print 1 page?!?! (and yes, this is a full registered version etc..). Again, I've tried this with three printers. Any ideas? Nish
  9. Hey everyone! I've finally got around to trying to build my first guitar from scratch, and there's something already that I just can't seem to get right. I can't seem to be able to print out the template for the body I want in full size! Take for example the Ibanez RG body from guitarbuild.com: http://www.guitarbuild.com/modules/mydownl...ewcat.php?cid=5 When I open that in either Volo View Express or TurboCad 2D (the two software they list on the site), I can't seem to get either of them to print the drawing as full size. With Volo View, I can only get it to print fitted to the page (the fit to page option is clickable (as in I can turn it on or off), but as soon as I click ok, and go to page setup again, it's checked on again). With Turbo Cad I can only get the software to print the image in 100 pages, or fitted to the page, and it's either waaay to big, or two small. What do you guys use to print DFX and DWG format drawings, or is there something I'd doing wrong here? (note: I did try this with threee printers, two computers, and a print to pdf software...no dice..) Cheers, Nish P.S. I know some people go to Kinko's...but there isn't one anywhere near me (not within 100 miles).
  10. The funniest thing is that all those necks scare me, because I have thin long fingers, and when playing on most scalloped necks, my fingers fall right past the strings sometimes...I might lose them on that first neck. As for the body....what wood is that?!? it looks like cheap particle board that my dresser is made of! Further more...."It's Color Is A Very Unusual Turquoise Gold/Gray/Black/Brown/Red Combination That Appear To Be The Colors In A Natural Piece Of Turquoise....Which Also Has Silver Sparkle In It."
  11. I'm still reeling from that one...but don't blink too fast...here's the....MATCHING BODY!!!! http://tinyurl.com/9vy2z Cheers, Nish
  12. http://tinyurl.com/8uuvq ...the real question is...why?!?!?
  13. Ditto on that man....that's a BEAUTIFUL neck
  14. http://www.q-tuner.com/index.shtml What does it do?!?! (I'm too lazy to read the whole thing)
  15. I believe that it's a bit of both. The neck scallop allows you to play a bit faster (in my opinion), allows you to have HUGE vibrato by pushing down on the strings (no frets in the way), and provides a brighter tone as there are no frets in the way. One big dissadvantage is for chording. To barre down something upon scalloped frets takes a lot of practice as it's easy to A) hurt your fingers fast B)pull chords out of tune by pressing down notes. I'd suggest full neck scallop of the steve vai 21-24 scallop...why? Try playing voodoo child with a scalloped neck starting at 14...it's feel really odd because the E blues box steps onto the 15th and 14th fret lots of times. Just my $0.02.. Nish
  16. Off topic I know...but I've had my schecter C1 classic and it's the most gorgeous guitar I've played on, and that says a lot because I had a $2500 budget, and it blew the crap outa the prs's in that range (and it was only $1300). The only Issue I had with it was the pots too...they make such great guitars but all of their pots seem to be cheap crap...blah. Just a bit of advice though, if you do have a heavy carved top, be warned that nrmal pots don't always fit. Make sure to check to see if the bushing (thread) on the pot is long enough. Sorry for sidetrackin', good luck with the kit and guitar Cheers, Nish
  17. I know that for big old fashioned metal flakes you need a special flake shooter gun to do it right. I don't know about the metallic finishes... Cheers, Nish
  18. Use lots of clear...lots (I use them for all of my guitar pedal boxes). go with heavy coats of clear first, then light ones, and it'll mellow out eventually. Cheers, Nish
  19. For all the things that go *bump* in the night!
  20. I don't mean to sound cheap or anything...but after shelling out $80 + shipping from the nitro finishes....I really have streated my budget to the point of not being able to afford the extra $20 for express. Cheers, Nish
  21. Come one come all to sir_modulus' super part sale! Up for grabs today is some parts from my squier Jagmaster: Bridge - Standard Squier Trem...chrome with nickel saddles. Squier Trem It's good, it's just I now have a floyd rose  Comes with all the required hardware including springs, claw, pivot posts, etc..., but no bushings. Tuners - Squier standard sealed tuners (they're also really solidly built...I just have sperzel locking now!!). Tuners Epiphone standard 57 classic pickups. These are nice sounding pickups. They are from a epiphone dot, so they have a very nice jazz sound. The neck is much more for jazz as it's got a mellow even tone, and the bridge is good for rock as it's got that nice trebley bite (but isn't quacky). The only problem is that the bridge is a bit low on the output compared to a lot of pickups. They are in good condition, cept for a few small scratches here and there, and a scratch on the face of the bridge one (decent sized). Epiphone Set Note all the pickups come with all their screws etc (and springs), and the tuners come with all the necessary parts (bushings, washers etc...). Please pm me with an offer as all these parts are used, and I don't know what the price is for them. Cheers, Nish Edit: as a side note...most of these pics make it seem as though the parts are all scratched up. I assure you that they are not, and it is only the effect of the flash. I will try and post better pics soon. SOLD
  22. Don't have a top routed guitar with a humbucker to go by. All my buds are all "FENDER SINGLES ALL THE WAY"...so I'm kinda screwed on that aspect. Cheers, Nish
  23. Hi all! I'm looking for some humbucker routing templates online...and was wondering if anyone knew where to get them? I would like to order from stewmac, but I already have tons of acrylic sheeting...and due to the fact that CanadaPost sucks...it'd take a week and a bit to get templates from them. I've looked all through the fourm...but can't seem to find any sources. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks! Nish
