  1. I'm thinkin dark purple flame on top with black bevels... i've been on a purple kick lately.
  2. I would love to haev that lil piece'a strummin wood
  3. Old no-name and Teisco style guitars that had one pickup almost always had the single pickup in the middle position, or somewhere in between middle and neck. Definately not the same sound goal here, but just a lil tidbit of info. Always nice to go out and try something different though!
  4. Definately a noticable difference between Fender and Gibson scales. I keep managing to acquire Fender scaled guitars though! I'm having a hard time find ing a decent quality short-scale guitar at a relatively cheap price
  5. On GFS pups, the green is the hot, the black and silver go to ground, and the red and white are used for coil splitting.
  6. I was already thinking of doing a sort of Les Paul tribute by slapping a preexisting neck I have laying around on a 2x4 or 4x4... would that count?
  7. LOL +1 Teisco - your avatar...... Anyway... I actually really like the liquified style design, but I'd have to simplify it a little because that one just looks too busy and disorganized when liquified.
  8. That guitar makes me feel like I'm on acid. Nice.
  9. You could also just make the neck mroe proud of the top of the body, couldn't you? Might take some getting used to but it's not that hard. After a few days all that space between the strings and body doesn't bother you.
  10. This is definately one of the cooler projects I've seen. GOTM for sure. I envy you so much for finging a set-style neck on ebay!
  11. Nitefly. You had me at "Hello." Well, it was more the screwy (haha) nutjob (hoohoo) of a nut. I love it.
  12. Very nice. Like psw said, you'll need to either raise the fretboard to be more proud of the body (make the neck pocket not so deep), or add some angle to the pocket in order to conteract the height of the wraparound. I'm trying to decide whether i dislike or absolutely love the pickguard. I think I'm likin' it though.
  13. What do you mean by Orange peel? Orange peel is that "bumbiness" you get after a coat of clear cures but before you do your final sanding and polishing.
  14. Looks like some type of old Dano copy, perhaps Silvertone (Sears)?
  15. Hmm.. I may end up going w/ alder on this one, instead of the ash i had planned on before. Then again i COULD just dive right on into this whole thing couldn't i? . I'll use ash and test on some scrap, see wha's what. Thanks guys.
  16. That is one NICE lookin piece of strummin' wood! I like the subtle flame in the top. Also the natural + gold is very classic and classy.
  17. Thats awesome. I'm also a Sophomore and I'm looking to start my first build (not counting my Kit) here pretty soon. I have to get some working room in the garage first, then it's smooth sailing (not counting all the screwups) Hope it turns out as great as that!
  18. If i use Colortone (StewMac) black grain filler on an ash body, would I apply it before or after staining?
  19. Im really digging this thing, idch, great job so far.
  20. Paint the fingerboard, too (SoCal Strat style)
  21. Nah, I didn't really descirbe what i meant very well. I may finish the guitar completely then do the sticker/clear thing, or I may just abandon the "coated in stickers" look and opt for some old school stickerage with no clear coat.
