  1. godin, im buying the complete wireing harness for it direct from neal, i will have to do is wire the pickups and the input jack, but i will ask neal for the schematic
  2. actually for those not in the "know" bernie never actually built any of the guitars, that is a common misconception, he had a wood shop where several mexican luthiers built his guitars for him, he never built any guitars to my knowlege, for those of you who care to know i urge you to go to neal mosers website and read as much of it as you can, specifically this thread http://mcs.acidpit.org/viewtopic.php?t=3172 there is not a lot of information on the history of bc rich, so having neal there to answer questions is really cool, after all he did design the rich bich and scythe (also known as virgin to some of you) as well as perform many of the final setups on bc riches during the early 80's
  3. well its not like emgs, but here is the rundown of what a vintage bcr active circuit contains *note this is taken directly from neals site, i did not write this* 1. Treble Booster on-off switch. Great to kick on if you want a biting lead. It has no volume control. It doesn't boost the vol that much. 2. Secondary booster on-off switch. Switch up is on. It's related vol is #10. 3. Primary booster on-off switch. Switch up is on. It's related vol is #12. 4. Out of phase switch. Switch up puts pickups out of phase when both pickups are on. 5. Neck pickup series/parallel switch. Switch down is series and switch up is parallel. 6. Bridge pickup series/parallel switch. Switch down is series and switch up is parallel. 7. Stand-by switch. Switch up guitar off. 8. Varitone in and out switch. Switch down varitone out. Switch up varitone in. This allows you to pre-set a varitone position so you can use a sound by hitting the switch instead of rotating through the spectrum. 9. Master volume. 10. Secondary booster volume. 11. Varitone rotary switch. Counter clockwise position 1 is straight through. 12. Primary booster volume. 13. Tone control. 14. Neck pickup volume. 15. Pickup selector switch yeah its a total nightmare to wire!
  4. well since it is technically saturday where im at, this project is going to be a bc rich ironbird (you were kinda close with a v, it has the back of a rhoads v kinda) its going to have the original bc rich full active circuit(ala neal moser) and a few little modern things (belly cut, tone chambers possibly) I will start posting pictures tonight or tommorow depending on how work goes, so there ya have it the cats outta the bag!
  5. dear god no!! i dont like the widow at all, but one things for sure i will be able to play "flying high again" and this baby is going to scream while doing it!
  6. alright then, i have a 14" jack plane i just got from the home despot and after checking it, it is straight and i still have to hone the blade, but im getting told i should take it back and get at least a 18" bench plane for building my neck thru guitar, would you all agree?
  7. so pictures will be start coming in tomorrow and my template layouts are almost done, anybody care to guess what im building before i unveil it?
  8. technically you need a neck angle no matter what bridge your using, however there are some things you can do to avoid this (recess your bridge, works very well with floyds and TOM's) but its not all that tough to do neck angle on guitar, just draw out everything first, figure out your neck angle(theres a tut perry did here thats pretty easy) and go to town on it, just take your time and you will have an awesome guitar!
  9. plexi was picked up today, i should be putting template pics up later this week, ordering truss rod and carbon fiber tonight as well (stew mac hot rod) i was going to be doing a very thin neck on this guitar, but after i got to play a good friends warrior guitar, i decided its going to be fairly thick, it was an awesome guitar!
  10. not an ignitor, but i do plan on building one of them in the future, i just have to get a full body tracing for it! *whoo almost gave that away!
  11. so im starting a new neck thru this week (this will be my first from scratch neck thru, i have used carvin necks in the past) and im not going to be giving much away on this one, pics will tell with time, anyway the specs are going to be as follows (w/*pending) 25 1/2" maple neck thru 24 fret ebony board mohagany wings quilted maple top with matching headstock veneer *ebony or abalone stringers*(depends on how big the maple top is) black hardware floyd rose *pickups still pending, but bill lawrence x500lr in bridge and dimarzio evolution in neck with full active electronics* *transparent blueburst finish* (not sure if i want black, purple, red or green either though.) i will start making plexi templates for everything later this week, wood should be in by fridayish (thank you soooo much again rich!), i *should* be making sawdust my next monday, but i want to be extremly carefull with this one, it will be awesome, rest assured old school bc rich design that we see sometimes, but not very often (and no its not a stealth)
  12. fryovanni, disregard that thickness on the maple i was asking about, it will need to be 2 1/4" if possible, i was way off! same measurements for the rest though.
  13. that thing looks incredible already, is the bridge going to have that same rusted look to it? im thinking it will be black, awesome none the less!
  14. well, check the truss rod, see if the neck needs an adjustment, and set the guitar up, other then that I cant help you.
  15. its looking amazing so far man! im really diggin that heel
  16. so im assuming that means im SOL getting my rg350dx jemed out then right? either way i wouldnt mind having a laviathan later down the line.
  17. drak, thanks man, i was hoping he would reply to my messages, maybe my lawyer will get through to him better
  18. buh duh dum, lets just say im getting ready to see a lawyer about that... , i highly suggest if you want custom done stuff to go with perry, he definatly knows his stuff, and jeremy is doing the laviathans from what i know
  19. oops, read this wrong, but i think the jackson reverse headstock looks good as it is, why mess with a good thing?
  20. im doing a variation on the mirror top and i need a source for plastic mirror of some kind, im doing mirrored pinstripes on a rhoads v anybody know where i can get the stuff?
  21. you guys just wait until i bring out some of my designs......lookin good so far for extreme guitars!
  22. beautiful work man, i wish i could do half as good as that.
