  1. It's apparently because he wouldn't have a drink with him or because he went to rehab. Something like that.
  2. You mean when they were in that tiny club that was 100+ degrees?
  3. But this is John Petrucci's new guitar. This is the guitar he will be playing on tour. There already is a 24 fret, 25.5" scale JP sig with a tremolo. This will be his new 22 fret, 24.75" neck through model.
  4. E---- B---- G-0-- D-1-- A-1-- D-1-- E--3- B--1- G--0- D--2- A--3- E---- Something like that anyway.
  5. http://www.ernieball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7702 Yes, I shall be saving up for one
  6. Hmm, pretty poor month imo. Usually there's at least one guitar that screams at me but none of them do that this month. That said, I voted for the string through. I'd just like to clarify that my statement is not meant to be an attack on the guitars, the builders or the work. It's just my opinion.
  7. I'll probably not be doing at all to be honest, it was jsut a random idea but if I was, I'd go to a Credit Union. Nice low interest rates and they'll give you the money incredibly easily.
  8. I wasn't sure about where to post it.
  9. I got to thinking this evening about buying gear and my (current) ideal set up and how much it would cost. From what I can see, €3000 would get me a great set up but to save €3000 would take a while so why not get a loan and pay back €60ish a week for a year? In case anyone wants to know what my rig would be: Marshall JMP-1 TC Electronics G-Major Rocktron Velocity 100 Power Amp (2x55W) Samsung Power Conditioner SKB 6 Unit Rack Case Behringer FCB1010 Behringer 4x12 Cow Bell Random Midi, speaker and patch leads All that would cost €2100 leaving €900 plus whatever I sell my current rig for to spend on a guitar. Nice, no? And leave reasons why you voted which ever way.
  10. Ah jaysus, you're just following me about the place, aren't ya! Boards, GigSmart, here. Where next???
  11. What about putting a JMP-1 into the effects return of the DeVille? If it has a loop that is. Dunno what price ENGL's are in Canada but they're Mesa distortion and Fender cleans for a fraction of Mesa's price. Which is nice.
  12. Yeah, bills are horrible horrible things. €50 a week to pay bills and enjoy myself on. Not a lot of money. Does anyway buy wood just to make a body and neck? I'm thinking of making a neck through but the most expensive bit is probably the fretboard so I was thinking of just building the guitar without the truss rod or fretboard and seeing how that goes. If it goes well, then I'd get a fretboard and truss rod, fret it and install. If that goes well, then get hardware.
  13. I priced up a neck through maple neck blank, 3/4 piece alder body and preradiused and slotted ebony board from LMII. €100+ for that :o It's crazy money
  14. I'm sitting here, counting up my pennies and lusting after some wood So far, it would cost about €140 for body, neck, fretboard, fretwire, truss rod and delivery from LMII. Assuming I built all that and finished it, I'd have spent €200 and I'd have a nice finished guitar (hopefully) but without pickups, electronics, bridge, tuners, strap pins or other hardware. If I put a Floyd Rose and 2 EMG humbuckers into it, I wouldn't have much change from €400. How can you all afford to be turning out guitars like there's no tomorrow??? It baffles me
  15. Yes, the page I posted said €175. The page you posted said £149, which is €216.638 according to xe.com Now, I dunno about America but in Europe 175 is less than 216...
  16. Wrong. £ != €. £1 is about €1.47
  17. http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_behringer_lx1...e_prodinfo.html Save yourself some money.
  18. Nice job. Two things I'd do: 1) Stain the head as well. You'll loose whatever logo that's there but you can always put your own on 2) Don't varnish it. A wax or Tru-Oil finish would work quite well I think. Keep up the good work
  19. Use a bigger bearing on the bit while routing the cavity then use a smaller bearing for the lip? That's just a complete guess by the way so don't take it as fact!
  20. That is gorgeous. Seriously, very very nice work. I'd love to have half the talent (and workshop) you have
  21. Setting it to 2 letters would slow the search down considerably.
